I like cryptopia a fair bit. There exchange interface is great and support seems to reply in quick fashion. Also never feel not safe about having funds on that website either.
The Cryptopia support some times to late for upgrading coin to latest node,  well, I'm tolerance for it cause a big massive amount of coin that listed on Cryptopia, so the support team have a problem bit, and yeah a like the interface

I think at the moment a good exchanger can be considered Bitfinex. Yes, earlier they had problems, but since then much time has passed and they came out of the situation victorious. They have a headquarters in Hong Kong and therefore are not afraid of regulation by the government. Their only downside is that they do not present services to the citizens of the USA.
I would agree that bitfinex is now rather useful, fast, fees are low and, at least I hope so, it's a good place to keep coins at. Yet, of course, I wouldn't use it in case the coin can be traded on bittrex. I use it only because I keep my IOTA there. Liqui exchange also seems to be okay, even though there've been some scandals with scam-like situation. Again, I use it only for the coins not listed on bigger exchanges. I don't remember it's fees but I believe they are something like bittrex has which is very low.

All the centralized exchanges are fine, except if some of them are proven to be scammers. Cryptopia will not allow you to mine directly in to their addresses, But everything else is perfect. They have many coins listed. I only use them when I have something to sell, I never buy any coin from any exchange.

Bittrex is the one for me, very good performance and handling of coin splitting scenarios, just look at the last BCH fork, Bittrex is the first major exchange enabled trading and deposit and the service was running smoothly throughout the period. I will trust Bittrex for the next Bitcoin fork. Also maybe Binance, seem to have some interesting new coins down there, not the best of UI and functionality but acceptable. Kraken has been there for long time but has shown its age in the last Bitcoin fork when the service just can't cope. GDAX is modern and fee is relatively competitive but the limited choice of coin means you will have to found another one if you are interested in alts.

yeah it depends on country, in my country urdubit works fine and benefits its users by impressive trading. I also use decentralized exchange platforms to avoid taxes.
