In my opinion, Ethereum is the best coin to mine in terms of stability and price point. You can also mine a secondary while mining ethereum such as SIA which is slightly less exciting. I hold my ethereum and use the SIA I mine to buy into more exciting coins such as DeepOnion

Everyone is mentioning super difficult coins to mine... if i were you id take a look at vertcoin! Asic resistant, meaning our gpus can stand a chance against the goliaths

Someone mentions DeepOnion, I think right now you need a ASIC rig. X13 algorithm is cracked by ASIC miner.

Sticking with ETH at the moment with the occasional switch over to lbry for a day or two. I even throw a rig over onto Nicehash every now and then for some unknown reason.

off course ETH in Jan-Feb, DBIX in March-May, Bitcore in April, ZEN in June and now it's SIGT

Well, based on experience the best coins to mine now and the year to come are... Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dash. If you like you may add Monero, Zcash, and NEM because these are the coins that people invests their money a lot right now. Their market cap keeps growing to the roof.
