strange you saying the site was down here is the main riecoin thread on the forum

most use ypool + xpt miner

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annric-riecoin-constellations-pow-cpu-hard-fork-successful-world-record-446703

depends on what you consider best,

i suggest riecoin
the site's not working for riecoin (riecoin.org) that doesn't instill confidence for me. Forum post looks like its on the right track.

I do love yac and did back in the day but it's too old now and not very profitable as far as I can tell. I'll have to check out those others.

Check whattomine.com YAC has been in the top 5 since the site started.

I've been watching monero but I think they just had a security issue if I remember correctly. Also they do have GPU miners.

Gridcoin my friend, Gridcoin!
Gridcoin is scrypt algo, trying to find something that is pretty much cpu only.

Just curious if anyone has any insights into what is the best coin and or algo for CPU mining.

Cuckoo Cycle is designed to be ideal for CPU mining by minimizing computation and maximizing random memory access latency. It uses 3 orders of magnitude more memory than scrypt while being instantly verifiable.

See https://github.com/tromp/cuckoo for details...

Just curious if anyone has any insights into what is the best coin and or algo for CPU mining. I don't pay for electric and I keep my computer on all the time and wouldn't mind a using my idle CPU for a little something!
