I always keep an eye on DOGE v BTC though and it feels like it is a perfect short coin during pumps like last week 25% pump, it immediately went down to regular levels.
Are u talking about Dogecoin (Doge ) , the "old and know coin",or some new token ?

its good to keep some doges in wallet ,to see the future ?

Yes of course I'm talking about DOGE, and Dogecoin, there's only one of it and I literally spelled it out there right?

Not that I'm supporting any memecoin at all but this was the original and I can't deny I used to gamble a lot with it, or that I have the wallet still used every few months Smiley

And no, not advice. Just my agreement. and NOT to keep doges but to SHORT them at their pumps.

But there must be many more coins that will go down. What about Shiba Inu? I'm always worried for a sudden Robinhood listing though, as they did with DOGE.

Shiba Inu is already going up gradually and maybe it is going to come out with surprise next year. Shiba is doing well in the position so far after the bull early this year and now closing with a little more recovery from slight Correy. I think stronger hands are going to dash into it soon and it is listed in one of the biggest exchanges, is an advantage.

I totally agree with DOGE as a good coin to short,,, but then again I am not a trader and if I actually did try to hedge it I would probably not make much. I always keep an eye on DOGE v BTC though and it feels like it is a perfect short coin during pumps like last week 25% pump, it immediately went down to regular levels.

Forget about the meme coins, they're really going to be down. But there are other coins that you should look at and I think that you're aware of the others.
Do not worry about those meme coins, they're already done going to the top so if ever there's a huge catch up that will happen. It won't be that much anymore IMO because their time was done.
I think coin memes are not a top priority for bitcointalk members who know the possibility of memes being dumped blindly ,in a crypto investment we have a desire to collect meme coins that may believe they will hit ATH again ,forgetting is the best way that will be a surprise in the futuremaybe Cheesy
if it just happens to be a diamond in the next year it will be amazing, but otherwise what we hope for will be destroyed. I'd better leave a trail of shitcoin coins, this shitcoin season is endlessly loved by new people and destroys a person's life, because I was once in the position of a meme coin holder>?

I'm thinking perhaps Solana as it's so high, but its direct competitors (Avax, Luna, Polkadot are better in essence)
Avoid high market caps. And I don't also suggest Solana since if you will take a look at a higher timeframe and use such moving averages, it's still above on it (this is how I look at the market structure for long term).
Remember that it's not mean that an altcoin is currently high price or reached a peak, it is considerable for a short position. Well, just my 2 cents as I am not countering the trend.

You really are just better off selling the coins. If you think the market topped and bear market will start, many alts will go 90% loss from ATH. Sure you can short the future contracts however in a bear market the funding will be negative and you will be charged a premium to hold those contracts.

You can try selling the futures however you will need to roll them every 3 months and most likely at a backwardation.

So its possible however if you think the top is near, just sell and go into stablecoins.

Worry dump? and you feel we're on bear market.

Why people make themself complicated, there has some coin option in the market "alt/crypto-down" If you buy this crypto and the crypto_down you are buying the price is down that's mean you got a profit.

If you feel we're on bear, then buy this type crypto ~XD

it depends actually on the situation. wherein for me they will decrease more especially if it's literally a bear market , i mean there's no particular coin that can skip in it even trusted projects in my personal opinion because that's how bear influenced all coins in the market wherein the entire crypto is crashing.. If you want to save your profits then go for it and buy at low again, but i suggest never hold a new coin and assuming it will gonna survive because usually they all ending up shitcoin, so it's very skeptical to be honest.

So I feel like I'm taking too much risk, by hodling lots of cryptocurrencies, and in case a bearmarket begins I'd like to hedge my positions and open some shorts, much less than my hodlings, but still significant.

But what coins would be good for that? What coins would go down more than others in a bearmarket?

I'm thinking perhaps Solana as it's so high, but its direct competitors (Avax, Luna, Polkadot are better in essence)

What can you guys come up with?
Sol, Dot, and Shib are still a good choice when thinking about new projects, they are already established and listed in reputable exchanges plus of good market volume which is a very thing to consider when choosing coins. Well, sometimes we got trapped because of the price but if we feel this is not okay, just follow your instinct then. yeah, I actually listen to it and not just because of analysis and to what people are saying.

But if you are looking for long-term investment, prefer to choose those on the top. Try to visit https://coinmarketcap.com/, you'll surely see a lot of potential altcoins with huge trade volume.

I think that shorting SOL definitely makes sense.

The network is still quite unstable and it is centralized. Also the price is skyrocketing due to the institutional adoption.

Certainly a good time to entire a short right now, although I'd definitely make sure I'm covered with longs on other coins.

That alone isn't enough reason to short SOL but I'd take such a trade if it's confirmed that we are in a bear market since that's the only time bitcoin gets hit well and altcoins that are down 90% can still go down another 90%. That includes all altcoins especially those that have pumped massively while having near-zero utility to show for the hype.

There's Shiba too.

Short doge against the bitcoin pairing.  With 10k new doge per minute in supply it doesn't take much for it to drag it down.  And it hedges against bitcoin usd going up.  Doge can go up 20% in usd but stay flat bitcoin.  Easiest short out there.

If you could, definitely short the meme projects like DOGE.

There is still so much room for them to go downwards in my opinion. And when the actual Web3.0 projects thrive, they will be the first coins to go actually.

Just be wary that you have sufficient stoploss when shorting. The market stays irrational longer than you can stay solvent sometimes.

when the crypto market is experiencing turmoil so that its growth is very erratic, then I choose USDT as a hedge for my assets, because USDT is one of the stablecoins that has been proven to be able to maintain the value of the assets I have,
