When you are mining with CPU it's not really possible to make daily profit that is justifiable for the hassle, but if you are still looking to mine something, don't look for per day profit, look at what's going to give you most coins and still have some probability for price increase so you can profit off that.

Yeah, that was my main motivation. Literally just for fun, running 2 out of 4 threads on my laptop, just to kind of see what's out there.

I'm mining a decent amount of Ethereum and I'll probably jump back to Zcash after PoW gets phased out, so I just wanted to see if there was anything to bet my cpu power on, so to speak.

hidecoin
1050 coins per 1 month

Maybe. So I guess going by the name, the coin is supposed to be "hidden". But if it's not on coinmarketcap, or exchanges, how the hell is it supposed to go up in value?

Mostly coins with cryptonite or cryptonite-lite work ok, xmr being the most popular.  Unfortunately the reality of any CPU coins that are remotely viable tend to have ridiculous nethash rates from botnets farm mining them.  Monero, nexus, magi and some others on a high end cpu are still <$1/day.

Personal advice, if you're using a laptop just skip it altogether, the wear on the systemisn't worth it.  Desktops with user replaceable parts are fun to play with to cpu mine but for a tower heat is much less of a concern, and if you did cook your processor it's replaceable.

that's my 2 satoshi worth

This generally depends on the difficulty of the currency network, for example, the currencies with lower market value tend to have less difficulty being able to mine with gpu or even cpu I mean the last coins in the list of marketcap But being realistic the times of mining with cpu already happened since the gpu took their place.

So I've been looking into a bunch of CPU-only coins, ie Hodlcoin, Riecoin, and some others. And of course, there are tons of cpu/gpu mineable coins, but those have all but made CPU mining obsolete, unless those crapcoins somehow become MASSIVE. And for most of them, I don't see this happening...

I have been mining Hodlcoin, and with my i3-4010u, I can get about 20 a day, which is about 10 cents or so. I do it just for fun since I know I'll never really profit off of it, chances are. I am only using two threads though. Thing is, my laptop is on all day, and given all my GPU rigs, the few extra watts really means nothing to me.

But are there any CPU-mineable coins, that are more profitable than that? I hear people talk about Magi, VeriumReserve, etc, but I'm not really sure how much I'll be mining per day of those. Probably not a ton, especially Verium, given the price. But for you guys who actually bother with CPU mining, what coins do you find most profitable right now?
