Yes. There's good money to be made in Ethereum games. This applies specifically to Decentraland game, where you can easily sell virtual real estate for money. You could get paid in MANA tokens to later exchange it for Ethereum, and then for real cash. On the other hand, CryptoKitties works virtually the same way. However, all these Ethereum-based games would not reach far if Ethereum doesn't scale right on time.
Alternative smart contract platforms such as EOS and NEO, provide faster speeds and lower costs than Ethereum itself. All the games we know and love in ETH could easily get ported into these platforms if developers decide to someday.
Nonetheless, the more Ethereum-based games available, the better as it not only helps newcomers get into cryptocurrency, but also allows them to earn money while they're playing. Just my thoughts
