I am looking to buy small amounts of different alt currencies, could you guys suggest the two best exchanges for this purpose. The exchange should be reputable, have decent transaction volume and also have a lot of alt currency listed.
Which exchanges, based on the above criteria would you guys suggest.

Thanks

This is based in my experience,I'll recommend Yobit and CCEX they satisfy what you're looking for an exchange there are other good exchange also but I don't have problem with the two especially Yobit where you have over 300 altcoins listed.

Thing is that there can be huge differences in volumes for the same coin in different exchanges. There may be also a large difference in price between the same coin in different exchanges.

A current one is NAUT - just now was at least 1500 satoshis cheaper in Bittrex than Poloniex. Sometimes this is down to day traders not bothering to get the means to transfer coins between exchanges - NAUT needs a NXT plugin for transfers.

Other disparities are found in market pairs - the price can vary between BTC, LTC, XMR and ETH markets.

Mind you, you need to do the Math and work out the fees etc.

I guess my advice would be to register with as many reasonably high vol exchanges as you can - and don't keep large holdings in any of them if not trading.

I would suggest Bittrex, have used it for a few years and have never had any issues with them and I find their user interface the easiest to use although it can be a bit frustrating if you are on your mobile.

If you are looking for the more obscure alts and the newly released ones then Yobit would be for you, they seem to add any old coin.

I don't trade that often, but when i do, iusually trade on poloniex and bleutrade. They've been around for a longer time and haven't done me wrong so far. However, there is no guarantee in the crypto world, don't hold to much coins on an exchange for to long, even the most trusted ones might disappear overnight
