For me the best exchange site now that has most coins so far is Bittrex because based on my experience I had no problems with depositing and withdrawing in this site, I used to trade in Poloniex but they had lots of issues recently and was afraid I might not be able to withdraw some of my coins too so I just left it there and wait a couple of years until I'll just exchange those coins to Bitcoin.

which exchange would you recommend for most coins available and safety?

I am more interested in using poloniex and bittrex for altcoins transactions safely and comfortably. Because they have highest trading volume compared to other exchanges. Over 2 years i use them to trading altcoins.

Bittrex should be the first choice, polo for the second choice and liqui can be the third choice for you. They are all must do a research before try to listed the coin in their exchange site. But i guess that polo is really strict comparing with another exchange site. But looks polo already actively added the latest token.

there are a lot of exchangers,
and the better one in my opinion is Bittrex,i can not say 'THE BEST' when they can not guarantee our money and some people have a problem.
but sometimes i am using novaexchanger, coinexchanger to trade.because you can find many an altcoin registered in there.
plus you can doubling your money with those newly born if you're lucky enough (it's definetely high risk trading),
for me if you're using a low start capital using novaexchanger and coinexchanger are the right place.
you can see the price change in a day significantly,
of course it happened because most of them are pump and dump coin.

just put it on the 2fa on every exchanger that you use.

NOTE : If you can not read the market sentiment, opportunity and others aka Newly Start Trading do not play with those kind of coins

Bittrex is the best in my opinion, it has lots of coins listed on it and it's simple to use or so I find. There are a few more with even more coins listed on them like novaexchange, bleutrade etc but they are not much reputed ones and they don't have better or advanced trading options available on them which bittrex or poloniex do have.

bittrex, one of the restricted states(several states are listed) on terms for signing up is where I live.  Does that mean I cannot trade on bittrex?

poloniex, bittrex, cryptopia, coin exchange is best exchange in my opinion but for all of those site it would be better if we can get verified in highest verification because it will secure our account from attacker and we need to activate 2fa. i think every market exchange will do the best for their member and protect their member but we need to follow their requirement so they can help us to give full protection. although there is no guarantee 100% is secure but at least we can prevent from the attacker.

Being best will depend upon your criteria. Being safety depends on the future of exchanges since all of them are prone for being a fraud but it doesn't mean all of them could be.

For most coins, no doubt Yobit have all the listings since even deadcoins and shitcoins are there.

For coin that sorted out to have a great volume, I recommend Bittrex and Poloniex.

Just remember, there is no trading exchanges today who doesn't have a problem especially in support. Be ready to deal with that.

There are 4 for now for me that best to trade for most coins but there are some trading site are worst in support if you know yobit there are many altcoin release but most of the coins are scam if you want to make  good profit and safety better to choose an altcoin which is live for a long time..
And the other altcoin exchange site are poloniex, cryptopia and bittrex..
But most recommended is poloniex

Do any exchanges have advanced order types like trailing stops, stop loss, %, etc? Kraken used to have this and it was great, but they recently suspended it.

I recommend Bittrex, Bitfinex or Poloniex. Choose an exchange with a large volume. You can see a full list here: https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/

When it comes for the exchange that has most of the coins I would prefer yobit even though no one is interested with some of their coins which are already dead, they are letting it active and at display. But I will suggest to you bittrex or poloniex others are still with bitfinex but because of the hacking incident, many have doubts with their security.

As far as crypto-crypto exchanges go, I'd join the other above me, and say Bittrex has plenty of markets available, plus they are decenly trustworthy.

For fiat exchanges though, I'd go with kraken.com. I have been trading there for a while, and I think they are pretty good.

Crypropia, Bittrex, novaexchange and yobit have the most coins, I think. I trust Cryptopia and Bittrex the most but had on all exchangers no problems with withdraw and deposit.

Yeah bittrex is currently having most of the coins listed, as already posted about it gas exactly 261 coins listed. All the coins are almost healthy and having some or most of the trading volume in it. However, you can also choose exchangers with few coins listed but major trading volume because this can generate profits too, and they are also trusted one if you are thinking about these things while choosing the exchanger.

You can try bittrex and poloniex, bittrex have more coins listed than polo.

Also there are other altcoin exchange platforms where many coins are listed and most of them are just shit coins with 0 trading volume.

I like bittrex the most

I was also recommended to use this exchange. It is the most reliable and safe. There are so many coins that you will not find on other exchanges.
Another exchange on which I trade is yobit.net
There are fewer coins, but it is more convenient to use. There is a chat room for asking questions. Especially it is convenient for beginners

which exchange would you recommend for most coins available and safety?

You have Bittrex which currently has +260 active markets, Poloniex with 95, Livecoin with +200 (some of them have zero trading volume). You can check more exchanges at CoinMarketCap, but the ones I mentioned are all reputable and to be trusted but still, never hold large amounts for long time in exchanges.
