I once wanted to buy an block erupter usb stick because they were pretty cheap. But strangely they got pretty expensive and their performace is rather low. If I am lucky I get my hands on a second sidehack 2Pac stick for the solar project....

But jeah my main interest is on the fpga part, it would be really awesome if I'll get an configuration running on the generic chinese board. I am still interested if someone else got an miner running on another dev board, and if there are projects realised in vhdl.

Yes this is exaclty what I am up to

I also have a spare Orange PI zero and a spare solar panel. A little solar driven FPGA miner would be a dandy home project indeed

I still have the FPGA issue though ...
Maybe buying this DE0 board would make sense, it is a bit expensive though.

While it is possible to put the SHA-256 algorithm into an FPGA, in general it isn't cost effective to do so if you are seeking a profit on your effort. Back in the 2012-2013 time frame, there were multiple FPGA efforts for Bitcoin mining. At the time they were a step forward, but have been completely replaced by ASIC in terms of profit seekers since the end of 2013.

While I think it's a dandy home project, you should plan on getting your satisfaction from making it work at all.

Hi all,

I am looking for people who have som experience with fpga mining. I by myself own two dev boards with altera fpgas. This is one of them:

Generic Cyclone IV based board

I only have experience with vhdl hardware description language. I tried to use this opensource fpga miner on the chinese generic board, but the configuration does not fit onto it. The hardware description has to optimized just a little to make it fit, problem is I have no experience in verilog...

The question is would it make sense to optimize it? Is it possible?
Does someone else have experience with other cheap dev boards or does someone know an vhdl description?

I know a single FPGA miner does not have an profitable hashrate, i just try to look at this from an technical perspective.

I also own this board, but I currently need this for other stuff: Cyclone V based: Terasic DE1-SoC
