Even if you get a hardware wallet, you still have to keep your passphrase secure which in common with mobile and desktop wallets. Just make sure your devices are secure before using any wallet on them.

I'm suprised no one mentiones Exodus Wallet.

Exodus Wallet is not a hardware wallet - or am I wrong? I am not able to find a Exodus Hardware wallet.

I am using the Ledger Nano S wallet. I am happy with it, but the memory seems to be limited.
In detail there are several apps available for the Ledger Nano S, but you cannot install a lot of them.

Has anybody experiences with the Ledger Blue? Does it have a bigger memory? Anyway the price for it is quite high ...

We use Trezor and when used in conjunction with MyEtherWallet, you have support for Bitcoin and every ERC20 Ethereum Altcoin.

I'm suprised no one mentiones Exodus Wallet.

Currently has about 10 alts, and more to come. Shapeshift built into it, and an outstanding support team.

Hey, I'm searching for an Ethereum iOS wallet, which can create multiple addresses. Do you know one, that supports this?  Wink

Bump!

I need a new hardware wallet right now. Because computers are no longer as safe as to keep bitcoin and altcoins.

Can someone give me a suggestion? Is the Ledger Nano or Trezor reliable? I expect your comments on this subject.

I have a ledger, which is great and dandy, but I wish there was one program either on pc or a actual hardware device that can store coins such as PPC, NMC (I know keep does but that's all I would use it for), STR, NXT, etc.  After the recent btce nightmare, I withdrew over half my funds from polo.  I would like to still trade but keep my coins for the alts off the exchanges.  I have no idea what is best though anymore..
Try waveswallet or MyEtherWallet for your alt-coin or tokens,
That is what I am using for my alt-coin hope you might like it too.

I search and a couple results come up.  Which one is the authentic website and what coins do they support?
They are both authentic on which you can store up altcoin which are basing on their platform. If a certain altcoin is based on waves then waveswallet.io would be suited on that one and if ETH platform then myetherwallet.com would suit on that one. Talking about hardware wallets nano ledger etc. they only store up some coins only which is only selective. I cant see anything who do store many types of altcoin.

They all do the same ones though.  If my nano s supports it, that's what ill use.  If it doesn't then I have to look for another, and quite frankley the str wallet is a piece of junk

The Ledger Nano S is a good hardware wallet, but you cannot use every coin.
Here is the list of those which are supported:
http://support.ledgerwallet.com/knowledge_base/topics/which-altcoins-are-supported-by-the-nano-s-and-the-blue

Anyway, I am usin the Ledger Nano S for most of coins. For those ones which are not supported I am using the standard wallet of the coin.
But I prefer (of course) the Ledger Nano S.

I think you can go for myetherwallet or waves for more secure wallet.i personally use it and it is more popular.it will be your best choice.thanks
Do you know Myetherwallet.com's online wallet is not a wallet hardware?

Wallet hardware is like Trezor and jaxx if myetherwallet is online wallet.

It may be a good idea to download or use the portable wallet provided by each altcoin you hold to be more secure than you store it in the exchanger. Because so far no hardware has been developed to store various altcoins.

I am in less than 10 as well but I just wish I can save my coins.  Str I have what I consider a decent amount in.  I really want to get these stellar coins off exchanges and into a desktop wallet to hold.  Really can't find anything that is working at the moment for desktop wallets that accept it though..

I've been using keepkey, but it's pretty clear that the three hw wallet players are slow to add non top 10-20 coins in general.  Also it seems KK in particular is very slow on the software dev side.  I like the hardware but most of the time wonder why I spent the money on it at all.

So, in my deference to storing on exchanges I have a staking laptop I run with routine scheduled backups which I also keep the dev created wallets of my non-staking alts on to keep their chains synced and backed up a few times a week then I just close them and let them sit.

This could be a major pain in the ass if you're in a lot of alts but for me it's <10 and is very simple to manage.

I haven’t seen one device that can account for all crypto. However, Ledger seems to be the quickest to adopt popular coins. So, I think that you are in a good spot. You, may however have to download individual wallets of the ones which are not supported.

I have the ledger nano s.  I am looking for something that supports the alt coins.  I even emailed ledger and they said they do not intend to carry ppc, nxt, nmc, or str in the future.

Trezor and Ledger Nano S are the best options available on the market right now.

The KeepKey is nice but out of stock.

Best choice is have a good Hard Drive as SSD or HDD (if can't always provide electricity for PC) for keep your coin, then use wallet from devs the coin you want keep. Because not have wallet better than offical wallet from homepage this coin.

As an hardware wallet ledger nano s is the best now. You can buy it before thinking, storing tokens on my ether wallet may be good but I think ledger will allow it? Im not sure about it though and there are some mobile wallets which you can store lots of altcoins like peercoin and many trash coins in it.

Trezor makes a good hardware wallet. I'm not sure about what altcoins they support.
Trezor is the best ever in my opinion. https://blog.trezor.io/multi-currency-support-bitcoin-dash-and-zcash-in-trezor-wallet-7377d812112a?gi=665dc46e6735
It has supported a lot of kind of crypto.

All of erc20 token, ethereum, dash, monero and many more.

Most wallets can be updated threw a USB connection to add new Coin wallets, It might not support the coin your want but if they grow in popularity they will add them to the firmware.
If I had to recommend a hardware wallet the Nano ledger S is great for the price and has served me well.

You can go with quite easier solution, jaxx is out there where  you can store almost all of the top trading altcoins including ETH, ETC, LTC and many more. Try them and actually they are safer than any web wallets or exchanges out there because it don't store any of your wallet details online.

Jaxx does not support nmc, ppc, nxt, or any of the small ones.

For all these small wallets you should use the wallets provided by the dev's to secure or if you don't have a plans to hold for long then can keep in exchange as well. But if you have a huge amount of coins then it is not good to keep in exchanges. I don't hold any of these three coins but most of my altcoins I use whatever wallets provided each altcoin dev's.

Since you know already ledger nano s i think jaxxx wallet is one but base on other people experience about the wallet i think its not a good idea to save your altcoin for me i can say that official wallet is the best choice to save your altcoin instead of finding a 3rd party software..
to save your altcoin that i think its not safe if you save it in not trusted wallet..

Basically I want to know what is safest to store that I ACTUALLY have the coins in my possession.  I use ledger nano for my zcash and btc.  But I do not know what to do for ppc, nmc, nxt, and str which I trade a lot of but since these exchanges are up in arms thanks to the us government I don't trust keeping the coins on there anymore.  I want to be able to actually have the ppc, nmc, nxt, and str coins IN MY POSSESSION in case a exchange goes down and what not.  I lost 5k in ppc and nmc on btce, I am not willing to loose actual large sums of money on other exchanges.

Is there any valid reason why you would want to use a Hardware wallet opposed to just downloading a free wallet from the Altcoins website? A desktop wallet is much safer than trying to use a Hardware wallet that can eventually turn offline and allow you to lose every coin that you have on it.

Ledger is nice for a little bit though if you just have a regular desktop wallet you could have more money to invest in certain Altcoins that you think will go up in price instead of putting money into a Hardware wallet and pay for shipping on it too.
