As far as I know the only wallet that has proven its security is the Ledger Nano wallet. I do not know how much does it cost, but I think it was always the best alternative in hardware wallet market. But I may be wrong.

If I better save ethereum in a market. Not lazy also for the long or short term. Because our goal is for the long term. Of course saving in the market is also not a problem. And certainly very safe if I personally do that.

What hardware wallet do you recommend to get for storing ETH long term?
Best but unreleased - HODL by Universa, it looks absolutely amazing with the OLED screen.
But right now - definitely go for a ledger wallet, I have my disappointments with it, but none of them are related to security.

I do not think that there are 100% guaranteed wallets that can guarantee that your funds are protected, today there is no such thing, if you hear about this, then forget that this is true. This is 100% not true!

Of course Trezor and Nano Ledger are the best for hardware wallets but now you can use the hardware wallet on android made by myetherwallet the apps name is MEWconnect.

I would advise you a standalone wallet that will be located on your computer. It is much safer than keeping your cryptocurrency on the wallet which is online. But if you have volumes of not big than you not be satisfied with MEta Mask or MEW?
if I myself use the MEW wallet first because there hasn't been a lost asset from now until now, because this security wallet is very good for protecting our assets

I've been in the cryptos for a time and according to my experience most of the users who wants to use hardware wallet to store their ETH is using  Nano Ledger and Trezor but for some people are having a hard time buying this product since it's a little expensive (but if you really want to secure your funds then you should invest to this kind of devices) and there are some alternatives for this hardware wallets and this is a paper wallet where in your private keys are written in a piece of paper but the disadvantages of this is when the paper wallet was lost or damaged you won't have any access to your wallet again.

What hardware wallet do you recommend to get for storing ETH long term?

Why do you choose to using hardwallet ? Hard wallet is not free and you have to buy it.
I think it will be either Trezor or Ledger s Nano. It will be more safe if you using hard wallet than using web wallet.
But it will be easier if you just using Metamask and save your private key in somewhere safe place.

Ethereum is one of the potential coins in the crypto market. Currently, the 3rd largest cryptocurrency in the market capitalization. Even though the crypto market has seen a downside towards the ending of 2018, Ethereum is going to take an upward surge in the coming year.

Before investing in ETH, one should have a knowledge of top Ethereum wallets. The best ethereum wallets are Trezor, Ledger Nano S, KeepKey, Guarda, MyEtherWallet and many more wallets. There are 12 updated best ethereum wallets. You can compare and choose the best wallets you want from here .As it is the second most popular cryptocurrency, more people are investing in ETH and the increasing zest to invest necessitates the knowledge of the top Ethereum wallets.

My recommendation will be Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet, you can get one for less than $100 if you go for the basic model (which is good enough). However, buy from the official website because there are cases of hardware wallet from Ebay or other resellers being comprised.

There is not much hardware wallets to choose from. I know only about Ledger Nano and Trezor. Both supports Ethereum and all ERC-20 tokens.
But you do not have to spend money for hardware wallet, MyEtherWallet released the app which could replace hardware wallet  Cheesy.

Paper wallets are the safest alternative to hardware wallet in my opinion. No need to waste your time and money for buying new hardware wallet if you don't have huge amounts of cryptocurrencies.  Writing the private keys to the paper wallet is enough to protect your balance.

Paper wallet's safety is (a bit) under Hardware Wallet's. And paper wallet is good only for accumulating and long term holding.
The safer than paper wallet option is air-gapped cold storage.

Edit: don't get me wrong, I like the paper wallets very much, they are safe (if you do the correct steps) and cheap. But let's tell people the correct info, as much as possible.

There are many hardware wallet for storing ethereum. Some of these hardware wallets are ledger, trezor, myetherwallet and offline hardware wallet but I prefer to use ledger because its the best. I have been using this wallet for a year now and its the best I must say.

The best one is Trezor and hardware wallet by blockchain.info. Both hardware wallets are useful for storing the ETH and feeling secure about your stored coins.

What hardware wallet do you recommend to get for storing ETH long term?
I will vote for trezor and that never get any hacked cases, i don't recommend you to use ledger wallet because so many people have experienced that about a lot of hacked cases were happened in ledger wallet and it's not a recommended wallet to buy.

Could you please provide only one confirmed case of a Ledger Wallet being hacked?
I doubt it.

@OP
If you don't trust the Ledger wallet I'd just go for the Trezor otherwise feel free to get yourself a Ledger Nano S or if you need Bluetooth you could also check out the Ledger Nano X (also got more storage but is double the price of the Nano S).

You can check google for finding hacked nano ledgers that sold by unauthorized resellers. These guys change the software inside the hardware wallets and they put malicious software that sends private keys to a special server. I have heard such news on Twitter.
It's true. It's the reason why I think we should buy Ledger from official sellers or buy if directly from website of Ledger only although we will have to pay a little bit for shipping but it's much safer than buying it from a reseller.

There are many hardware wallet you can use in storing your ETH, you can check for some that has already been listed in the forum by using the search box to check for already created topic as this, though the once I can recommend for you is TREZOR, Ledger Nano S.

I can recommend these two to anyone not because I think they are the best but because I believe they have been for a long while and they are very much trusted to use than trying to make use of newer released hardware wallet, though it's your choice to make.

I own and use Ledger Nano, but there are not currently more options. There is only Trezor as a competitor and maybe new wallet Coolwallet, that is pretty diffrent than these two others. It is more portable.

What hardware wallet do you recommend to get for storing ETH long term?
For now, I personally trust and use Exodus wallet and ever since their introduction, they have been highly effective and I don’t think they have encountered any form of challenges or negative review on them. Their interface is very brilliant and one great feature f exodus is that you can store your private key on any machine of your choice and not on server and you can exchange your coins to ether or ether coins within the wallet provided they are listed on it.

I am using both Ledger and Trezor hardware wallets, both are good for storing ETH. However the two hardware wallet support different coins, you may want to check out the list of coins supported and get the one more suitable for your needs.

What hardware wallet do you recommend to get for storing ETH long term?
Ledger Nano S is the most commonly used hardware wallet in my knowledge so you can use it if you are going to hold huge amount of ETH in long term but while purchasing hardware wallets you need to make sure that is a bran new wallet or people can steal your money.

What hardware wallet do you recommend to get for storing ETH long term?
Nano ledger and Trezor are two best option as cold storage. Long term investing has some requirements like storing the assets in a safe place. Also writing the private keys to somewhere and deleting the all cookies from a browser can be life-saving.

What hardware wallet do you recommend to get for storing ETH long term?

To store Ethereum and ERC 20 tokens, I use the Trezor hardware wallet, and there is a list of other cryptocurrencies in the wallet for safe storage.
I use for a long time, this wallet suits me during the use of difficulties not experienced.

What hardware wallet do you recommend to get for storing ETH long term? I heard that the new Nano Ledger got compromised.

What do you exactly mean by "got compromised"? Does the Nano Ledger Wallet got hacked, or is it malfunction, or it has a bug or glitch or what?
And where did you heard this news?
As far as I know, it is impossible to hack to any hardware wallet, since it's not supposed to connect to any network, it is offline cold storage, so no one can access the wallet remotely,

I personally use Trezor and i'm very happy with it. Haven't tried ledger nano though. The only problem i see with Trezor at the moment is that it doesn't support NEO based tokens, but since you are asking for ETH i think is a good choice.

Ledger Nano S is the best hardware wallet for ETH at the moment. If you wanna get one so buy a brand new from official website of Ledger, avoid buying 2nd Ledger cause there are tons of guys are trying to steal altcoin by spreading virus in these 2nd Ledger then you'll become the victim if you bought these 2nd Ledger.

There is no 100% safe guarantee even if hardware wallets, however it's very difficult to hack them and usually they are updated soon to solve any problems. I feel quite safe with my ledger nano s.

You heard from where? Every stuff got compromised but it doesn't mean they are not worth it anymore. As you can see storing up cryptocurrency is not that hard even soft wallet is okay and will not be compromised by hacked activity if you take care well. Nano ledger is the best one, I've been using it since its release and so far there is no issue with it. I guess only people that been compromised are those careless one.

The best hardware that i know is ledger because it is really safe to store all of your coins there that no hacker could open it and steal your funds. Just don't forget your private key and misplace your wallet.

Compromised? I don't have any news regarding this about Ledger Nano S wallet. I'm a user of this wallet and never had any problems with them so it's my best call for anyone who's been looking for a very reliable and trustworthy wallet. Besides, they have a very excellent support that will answer your queries, I have few concerns about my wallet before and after contacting them on email, they responded quickly. That's how you choose a wallet, after sales would be great concern too.

1. There are news now and then about flaws in hardware wallets. They seem to pop out less and less often and they are usually fixed before anything bad happens. So hardware are on the right track, you can consider them safe enough.

2. If you want to hold for long time, you may consider paper wallet. I think that they're available for ETH too. You have to take all the precautions when making it, but then it's offline, so it's the safest possible.

Well if you could look a offline hardware wallet then that would be best in storing large volumes of ETH. As we all know that online wallets are risky especially if you are using online exchange wallet. Have you heard news about exchange hi jacking? If you do then storing large volume of ETH must be offline that if it is possible.
