The best performing old coins are

1. Bitcoin
2. Ethereum
3. Neo
4. BNB

There are few coins from 2018 and 2019 that are now Mooning insanely, band protocol is one of them and follow by chainlink, dyor and chose wisely
I agree with the number one and two, but for the number three and four, hm I think we need to wait for more because that two coins will need to wait for the right time to increase. Band protocol has a good time to rise from time to time, but it still needs to wait for bitcoin movements, and if bitcoin price can move to the higher price, the altcoin will follow. But I believe that many old coins are still waiting for their time to increase again.
Well, I agree that BTC and ETH are two of the oldcoins that are strongly increasing in this market. Those two coins have always been my favorite coins in the market since the time I joined. Besides, I think BNB is also a good one too. BNB has the benefits of its exchange - Binance, therefore, it can also be a good coin to expect!
So we have three coins to buy, and with that three coins, I think we can make a good profit later because bitcoin and ethereum will be back to the higher price, which can happen this year or next year. BNB can be the next potential coins at the market, but BNB needs to compete with the other potential coins, which still a mystery to find. Maybe we can take a look at litecoin, dogecoin, and dash too.

Besides ETH and BNB, I think you can choose QTUM as your long term investment. They continue to develop the project, and also currently QTUM's price is cheap, so you can buy now and then hold it until 1-2 years later, see what you will get. I personally still hold some QTUM ss my long term investment.

QTUM is a very underrated cryptocurrency these days. It's old, but still alive and running after all these years. Interestingly enough, QTUM is a smart contract platform like EOS, ETH, ADA, and TRON. But its popularity is down the drain. I guess that most people are focused on the big players on the market, than anything else. The rise of "De-Fi" and stablecoins' popularity has placed ETH and some other smart contract platforms in the headlines. QTUM is a hidden gem waiting to blossom someday with its unique features not found on its competitors. Same applies to NEO (formerly known as Antshares) and DASH. Prices seem to be getting lower over time for these coins. Holding "old" coins for a long time might pose to be a huge risk for your investment.

Nonetheless, there are many "old" coins on the market that have been performing well after all these years. Dogecoin is a good example of this, being a cryptocurrency actively traded across several crypto exchanges. Despite being abandoned in development and innovation, it has retained trading activity, making your investment last a lifetime. Litecoin, DASH, and Monero have been doing well too (although most other coins have experienced higher gains in price). If they're able to maintain mainstream adoption, they'll be able to survive for many generations. I'm currently "hodling" DASH, LTC, and some XMR, hoping they'll remain actively traded in the future. They serve as an alternative to a retirement account, if prices remain the same or higher than what I've invested initially. One thing for sure, is that investing in "old" coins brings many more risks than it's the case with newer ones on the market. I'd advise anyone to invest more on new coins, while allocating a small percentage of the investment into "old" coins to reduce risks as much as possible. Just my thoughts Grin

I would still go for BTC and ETH. Ethereum's team is always active in development, and almost majority projects are using ERC-20 platform. I am sure there are a lot of old projects there which have their own pros and cons and advantages over the other. But, BTC and ETH will not be on their spot as top 1 and 2 of the market cap of they haven't proven their worth.

Completely right. This two coins deserved it and most of the investors and supporters believe that there are more coming from
this two coin, but if you want to explore all over the market, you can also check those who are inside top 10 the chance of getting
the hypes after the bull run is really huge, buy if you already done with your  research.

Litecoin constantly rolls out cool updates, but still remains undervalued. You can search for which of the old projects has increased activity in social networks, and who can join the defi.

This is perhaps the only first generation cryptocurrency (other than Bitcoin) which has survived. Litecoin is not a technologically advanced cryptocurrency, but it has survived because the promoters listened to the users and made sure that the development work is done frequently and the bugs are removed on time. Other alts, such as Namecoin and Novacoin, which appeared in the market around the same time have all but vanished.

For me the I would always suggest that the best performing old coins/token in the market that still kicking and pumping are ethereum, ripple, bitcoincash, litecoin and EOS. And I have no doubts investing for these altcoins.
i doubt that OP is talking about OLD coins and ethereum is not that old compared to the example OP gives.

though your sets of currency is what i have holding now yet it wasn't OP is looking for.

I think i support the first poster in which mentioned MONERO because this currency is really old yet standing still in good position now.one of the best for long term holding.

But for OP,why need to look for older coins when there are good currencies talking about performance like ethereum and EOS together with Ripple?

Binance is one safe coin because this is one of the fastest growing exchange now so yeah BNB maybe one of the best candidate also.

It's been a long time since I don't invest in old coins that have been tried-and-tested over the years. I remember when Primecoin and Namecoin used to be a hit within crypto's early days. But XPM's development has stalled (AFAIK) leaving it with very low trading volume/activity. The same thing has happened with NMC and some other old coins on the market. There are still good-old ones that are actively being traded on the market like Dogecoin and Litecoin. Yet, I'm looking for the best performing old coins on the market right now that will serve as an ideal long-term investment.

Do you happen to know of the best performing old coins on the market? Any suggestions or recommendations will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
From 17-18 projects my favorite project is Utrust with UTK token, it is lead by a very active team, the project has actual use cases especially targetting crypto payments and helping in afoption of crypto at business, retail and outlet level. They have already secured massive partnerships and deals and 2020-21 will belong to Utrust for sure. I expect it too be a high value hold and it can yield 50 to 100x gains if one can wait patiently.

You can't really expect a good long-term returns from an altcoin, altcoins just have pump and dump cycles, and they also just follow Bitcoin, but Bitcoin outperforms them. Still, while most coins are shitcoins, maybe a few could be undepriced right now. My choice would be Monero, it has been stagnating for a while, and its price in BTC is very low historically. Monero has decent fundamentals because it's the best privacycoin, but privacycoins aren't popular among investors because of the regulation risks.

That's certainly true, mate. But I have to admit that there are some coins that are unique, despite being so old in the crypto/Blockchain space. They've managed to remain actively traded on the market after all these years. Monero is a good example of an old coin that has stood the test of time. I remember when XMR was worth cents (in USD), only to be worth more than $50 a few years later. It turned out to be a good investment for me as I've managed to get in early. Besides price, XMR is very useful for privacy-oriented transactions. Everything is virtually untraceable giving you peace of mind over your hard-earned money. The only issue would be mainstream acceptance, since governments are talking negatively about privacy coins in general. Even now, some exchanges have de-listed Monero and several other privacy coins because of mandatory KYC/AML compliance. We might see further de-listings until privacy coins like Monero and Dash are used and traded "under the radar".

As far as old coins go, I think Dogecoin is one of the best performing ones on the market today. The community is still vibrant supporting it every day. The only issue is that there's no active development. But I often enjoy DOGE's low fees and extremely fast transaction confirmation times (compared to leading cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum on the market). Other old coins haven't been doing so well, leading them to being de-listed from every single crypto exchange in the industry. But their Blockchain networks are still functional to this date. Smiley

Monero, Decred, Siacoin. Forget all the rest. Not that other coins will lose value. they will stay as valuable as are now but these 3 will gain a lot in the next decade.

Glad to see someone mentions Decred as one of the best performing old coins on the market today. It may not be in the top ranks in market cap, but it's still "kicking" after all these years. The fact that Decred has an innovative approach to PoS, makes it undervalued in my opinion. It's a hybrid PoW/PoS cryptocurrency which gives it extra protection against 51% attacks. This, alongside many other exciting things about DCR (like Stakepools), makes it a great long-term investment.

I'm personally "hodling" Monero ever since I got into it in early 2015. Prices have increased astronomically since then, as there's been a surge in demand for privacy coins. While now ETH and stablecoins are getting all of the attention, old coins like Monero and Decred are still relevant these days. I'd say it's best to diversify your investment into new and old coins in order to minimize risks as much as possible. Just my thoughts Grin

Chainlink is doing perfectly well at around 700% price pump in a year and be 3 years  by September after ICO, it is now risen to be ranked at 5 on the coinmarketcap ( over $6.7b marketcap and 38% circulating supply). It is described to have assumed the position of Ethereum in 2016 and if this is so we might still see around 100x in price by bullrun or in the new few months.
This is also my top choice when it comes to an old token that is doing great right now. Many surprised on how Chainlink worst and this project received many criticism for placing on the top 5 position but I think they improve well and they deserve to be on that spot despite of the hype. If you're looking for a more good coins then ETH and BTC is a good option as well making a lot of pumps in the history.

It is hard to say which old altcoin is going to be the next big deal in this new bull run. Traditionally, all coins experience low and high cycles which means that all even alts will go through their dump and pump.

However, I do agree that some alts are much better than others and their recovery may lead to large profit if invested at the right time. One of the coins I think is hugely undervalued at the moment is ETH. There are so many more shitcoins all based on ETH that get the pump yet ETH hasn't done that great - I do think this is upcoming, so here you go.

Are you sure that you want to invest into something THAT old? I mean sure you can put your money towards litecoin, that wouldn't be such a bad idea, but I feel like finding very old ones could cause a loss since you do not see most of them highly ranked since there are much better ones created after them.

I am not fan of brand new coins neither but checking out ethereum for example is a cool idea, you could always do that, ethereum is not one of the first ones, it is on later stage, but it is not brand new neither, it is quite old compared to thousands of coins so I would say check that out. I dislike XRP as well, otherwise I would say that is an old one that is worth to look at but it is not, they are mainly scammers. So, ethereum is my only advice to people who are looking for sound roots.

LOL! What coin is older than btc and millions of people still put their money investing in it, just because a project is old don't mean it is over and should not be invested on, between your post sound contradicting, am not sure what you are trying to say, how long a coin exist has nothing to do with performance provided there is a demand for it.

The best one still bitcoin Grin

The next coin will be ethereum. The next will be an unpredicted coin, which can be the number third because I think the next bull run will make many coins compete with each other to lift the price. Maybe we will see a new list on the coinmarketcap and coingecko, and maybe some of the old coins will go down in the positions.
No doubt! BTC has been always doing very well! However, the best performing old coin for me is ETH. We all can see the incredible development and increase of ETH right now. The market is affected by the hype of ETH 2.0. ETH has always been my favorite since the time I joined the market. I'm choosing to hold as much ETH as possible right now because I believe it will incredibly pump!

The current trend for 2020 is decentralized finance otherwise known as DeFi and only small percentage of older projects support DeFi related products and the ones that did have performed really well recently.  For reference purposes, My idea of old projects are those that have been around for at least 3 years (and were around during 2018 market crash).

In no particular order:

1. EOS: It recently had a price surge after the CEO tweeted that EOS will unleash DeFi in the crypto space. There's no telling what would come afterwards. EOS has been in a long downtrend that started in 2018 so this seems like the start of something good.

2. Tezos (Xtz): Tezos has experienced some significant price increase recently. It moved from around $2 - $2.5 recently, touched around $4.4 before retracing a bit. It's worth keeping an eye on.

Honourable mentions include: TRX (12%+) increase today, ADA, Qtum, ATOM and Zilliga (This one has grown recently well since june.).

I cannot say a word about 'oldest' coins but my approach to old coins is like - Defi tokens and tokens which launched on exchanges are doing great currently and I don't see any losses if we invest in these old yet new projects instead of going for coins like PPC, NMC, DOGE, etc.

Because I see almost every potential old coins are in talk of the crypto town, so if you research the market, you will find many old coins are shining and then comes new Defi and Polkadot ecosystem's coins! Old coins like Utrust a coin from 2017, BNB, Chainlink, Cro, VET, ICX, Coti, XLM, ADA, Mitx and many others are doing very well and all the holders are recovering the loss of 2018! I would suggest you have a look at Coingecko for quick findings.

Talking about old coins I would limit my focus on those that has been around for a long time and have also proved their worth as well through the introduction of good uses cases, working products and services. To cut the whole story short, Bitcoin is always my first, others worth looking into are Ethereum, Litecoin, XLM, ADA, Monero, Dash and BNB.  Although there are others but these ones always caught my attention.

For this informations is good Coinmarketcap website and look at the field ROI, it shows how much early investors earned when they bought it at the beginning.

Ethereum more than a 9000% return.
XRP more than a 5000% return.
Litecoin more than a 1000% return.
Monero more than a 3000% return.

So the best one is of course Ethereum Smiley.

Very few people were lucky enough to purchase them during the ICO phase, and therefore I don't think that it is worthwhile to debate on this. If you insist, then Bitcoin gave much more returns compared to all of these coins combined. Back in 2010, Bitcoin was available from the New Liberty Standard Exchange for less than $0.001 per coin. The current levels represent a 10 million times return.

Absolutely right, link is taking the lead on this title, everyone watching the price movement of this coin is wondering what is going on, why link is pumping so hard for days now none stop, the moment you think correction is about to set in then boom it goes even more higher, I wonder when it will finally correct, neve seen such price movement again since 2017. It is crazy.

I can't blame you to think that way because that was very unusual Grin. Look at chikator's trust history, he got a negative feedback due to long inactivity then suddenly woke up. Most probably the account was hacked or bought. For that reason, I think it's not impossible that bbcolex was an alt of him.

Because of the ETH2.0 incoming update, the token had rise in such a short period of time making it the best I guess. If you can consider waves, Aave and EOS to be old,  I think they are also performing well just today you can see how much it had spiked. But one can not deny the fact that LINK almost touch $20 today.  I have not even seen this token drop heavily since the time it got listed on CMC.

If you are talking about old coin then the top 20 listed on CMC still provide the best investment opportunity. There are a few that have been added recently to the list apart from those most of them are more than 3 to 4 year old.
The coins in the top 20 for me are too old and you should not choose to invest because the profits from these coins are very small. In my opinion it's best to look for new coins that have just appeared in this market because your chances of making a profit will be very high and certainly good to hold for a few more years. However, it is also advisable to study carefully when deciding to choose an investment because there can be great risks at any time.

I would say etherium is doing well right now. Its been raising on value this past few days. Even gas on etherium is getting more expensive, that part i didnt like. I really think etherium is doing well, i kinda hoped i invested more in it instead of just gas money.

Oh i think Etherium is doing well. Its also been on the rise lately. I kinda wished i placed more money on it than just for gas. I believe its one of the most stable coins that can be trusted enough to place transactions in. Its also gained a lot of grounds these past few years.

Anyway, in terms of performance, Ethereum was already left behind by many project in terms of tps rate. The only thing that keeps ETH on top is because they are the first smart contract project and they have upcoming big date. The ETH V2.0 will be the deciding factor for them if they will still gonna compete on new project like harmony(one) or not.

For me. LTC is the most consistent and top performing altcoin of all time. Smiley

Obviously most of the top marketcap projects are the best preforming old coins ethereum is king in that regard and XRP is the bronze medal. (if you consider XRP a crypto currency)
Many other projects still exists at a high marketcap but you kinda forget they are still around dogecoin lisk nano. And LITECOIN man I cant believe that is still pumped up as high as it is crazy to me.
Litecoin is so pointless at this point in time but I guess its silver to bitcoins gold as they say

Many of the old coins have died. I think the coins in today's hits are not as hit as they used to, but I think I'd better look for coins with rapid development meaning that there are always updates when the market is volatile.
masive developtment be the key for project succesfull in future. they could deliver product that wanted their investors ,trigger in market usuallly only on exchanges, product launching and partnershipe. so if developers team could realized this key points and give imppresive developtment progress i am sure many investors will interested.

For now it is ether. Ether has slowly recover and will wish something great of this coin. I know that ether has not doing good from the past especially after the market crash. Well see how much it could do better in the future or will it gets back to worst.

However, whatever the cryptocurrency development will be as long as that cryptocurrency is alive then I will still consider it good. But, pretty sure cryptocurrency has gone better over the period of time and many coins now had made good market capitalization. As i check the coinmarketcap, there is one crypto thatnhas caught my attention and that is the Link coin.

I think Link coin will do good and it keep getting better as days passes by. I just do hope that this coin will be available in our country. It is hard to make transaction outside from our country because of limited access due to government strict compliance about cryptocurrency.

Dogecoin is indeed a good choice for a long term investment. Besides being cheap, it also has good volume.
For me investment does not see when the coin is launched, but I prioritize trading volume, because this proves that the coin is selling well in the market or there are still enthusiasts.
Apart from that, you should also see if the coin is also listed on many exchanges. Because if the coin is only listed on one or two exchanges, it is likely that the coin will be lost in circulation. Will not be active. Maybe I'm looking at Blockstack right now, this coin has good potential. At the time of the Airdrop launch on Blockchain.com the coin price was $ 0.1 and the current price is $ 0.28 with chart conditions mines 6%. It's a new coin, but promising.
But for old coins, I think Dimecoin is a good thing. Apart from having daily volume, their site is still active as well. This means that the developer of this coin is still running the project well.

I personally think Monero, other older privacy coins and DigiByte are good options. DGB has been doing quite excellent in the last few months, but I am afraid a dump is coming sooner or later. I'm just really wondering whether they'll now come up with anything new & helpful at all or not (haven't followed it recently).

Monero.. it has performed quite well this year and I believe it'll become the "rebel's coin" sooner or later, desired by dudes interested in protecting their own privacy. I'm very, very bullish on XMR considering the so-unsignificant amount of people caring abut privacy at all at the moment. In time, especially as technology "evolves", I have hopes people'll start waking up.

Smiley
We all like private coins like Bitcoin. I would like to suggest you invest in Monero gold. Now Ethereum is the right choice because this coin is old enough and in the future POW will stop. Take profits then switch to other old coins. Now starting from Ethereum then could be Tron. Although I don't like Tron blockchain much, Tron 4.0 could be coming.

Since you can’t find any old coin apart from the ones you have mentioned, why not invest in Bitcoin then? I would have recommended Ethereum, but you said that you’re only looking for old coins only to invest in, so that means you wouldn’t be interested in other altcoins that are new and doing well in the market. Litecoin has been doing really well, it’s the old altcoin I know that has been going strong for long now, maybe you should invest in it.

As for Dogecoin, I have forgotten about it until the time they started talking about pumping it recently through TikTok. Right now if I’m to invest in altcoin with plans to hold it for years, I’d probably be going for Ethereum, it’s like the next Bitcoin.

I am waiting when Litecoin comes with a DeFi product because the developers do not know how make this coin attractive again. They tried it with a privacy feature, they tried it with crypto cards, but nothing worked.  Roll Eyes

Don't look far as ethereum has to be awarded that crown. It's the only and oddest coin currently capable of challenging bitcoin in ROI but still it's no were close. Ethereum has created a name for itself as the king of all alts as from time to time it keep the market active and promising by introducing different trends like the ICO crowdfunding mechanism that took the industry by storm and currently DeFi making a stand for itself.

Litecoin surviving until now is a surprise to me but seems it's a shadow of itself comparing to years back when everyone was talking about it been the silver to bitcoin. The new coins aren't giving the old ones room to breath so it's just a matter of time before they all die out.

The old coin that was launched in 2017 and 2018 named Datum and Synthetix is now performing well and also the volume to price has orderly increasing. This two-coin representing the true market picture in their price. Datum has already increased more than 500% from its lowest level. This way Synthetix has also increased from the lowest $0.03 to highest today to the price level of $7.30.

I don't understand what you mean by "old" coins since the market is fairly young. I remember Namecoin though, one of the pioneers but didn't have the built to be a prime mover like bitcoin. I can't remember which coin still survives today contemporaries with Namecoin or Primecoin.

But nevertheless, the better suggestion will be ETH in the current batch of coins. It's obvious that it reach it's peaked in 2017 together with bitcoin and other known altcoin and it could happen again in the future. And I don't think that those "old' coins can really survived in the current atmosphere though and they simply die.

Best performing "old" coins on the market?

Monero, Decred, Siacoin. Forget all the rest. Not that other coins will lose value. they will stay as valuable as are now but these 3 will gain a lot in the next decade.

I can't till believe that ETH can easily hit the price of $430 again so I think you might consider buying ETH when the pullback begins.
Also, if you are looking for a old token as well I suggest that you look for the Utrust token, its ATH before was $1 and its price right now is $.15 aiming to get back on its peak price so there's still have time to accumulate. Actually, its easily to look for opportunities right now because almost all the altcoins are pumping, and most of them made a good return on this up trend.

Litecoin constantly rolls out cool updates, but still remains undervalued. You can search for which of the old projects has increased activity in social networks, and who can join the defi.
Investors no longer trust this altcoin, so its price has not gone up in the past. Since it collapsed after the halving there are so many investors who have lost money with it, I personally no longer invest in this altcoin. Instead I chose BNB, ETH, XLM ... They have better hype

I think among the old coins eth and btc are still the best and evergreen coins but if you are looking for some coins other than btc and eth then i will suggest stellar and ripple, digibyte, siacoin and bitshares are also good potential coins.

If I'm to hold on to any old coin, my best bet will be bitcoin and ethereum. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency and happens to be the oldest, but have strived to remain relevant despite the ups and downs of the market. Ethereum on the other hand, is my best altcoin and I learnt it was brought to life around 2015 which makes it also an old project. I would rather hold on to coin that has the potential to give me a better reward.

Even this thread along in altcoin board, for sure I don't mention Bitcoin (the best performance over 10 years). Yes, Ethereum still the best performance after Bitcoin as long as the 2nd big market for along time. Another altcoin I will recommend for you is BNB as a rising star and token were backed by gold.

If you are looking for an old coin that still has good prospects in the market, of course etherum can be a good choice. the recent growth in value could also be a sign that this is a good signal for the rise of etherum and other altcoins as well.
I have seen such growth happens several times in 3 years, but this is not a signal of global growth of ETH. I expect ETH to start falling again

Ethereum as well a good performing old coin, And Siacoin which got so much hype in the early 2018 at that time it reached its all time high but after that is in the sleeping for a while with very gradual process which may get boomed as well if there is a bullish trend comes.

Why don't you just hold unto Bitcoin or ETH? since they are probably one of the oldest and most reputable cryptocurrency in the market. Not to mention that their market is significantly performing better than most coins right now. Just look at how ETH has grown this past few days. If this keeps going, then it might even surpass $500 mark this year.

Coti is one of the old projects of 2018. I guess we can say that they are performing well and they have a lots of partnership outside crypto space. I thought they already dead but it seems after kucoin listing the project boosted and started a big change and lots of development in progress especially their platform is related to finance.

For me the I would always suggest that the best performing old coins/token in the market that still kicking and pumping are ethereum, ripple, bitcoincash, litecoin and EOS. And I have no doubts investing for these altcoins.
