I can see btcoracle has short option feature but it is only for bitcoins and no alt coins. I am looking for services that provide the short option for altcoins. Since I have my brand new account on poloniex, I would try this now but still searching for new options. Has anyone had luck with poloniex with the short option? Would also like to have tips and words of experience from experts, I have been trading in stocks but never tried short option for altcoins.

Poloniex is the only good place to short most alts bitfinex if you don't care about options of what alts

I thought you can only borrow XMR, LTC, ETH,BTS, CLAM, DOGE, DASH, MAID, STR, SRP and FCT there.
correct. but it is also a reliable, many coins are both located there, and very little or no scam coins in the sale

That is right. That is the reason why I use Poloniex. There are very few scam coins there. I can buy with some confidence.

I don't think there is any other site for shorting alts like ETH and Maid etc except POLONIEX to short/long or margin trade.

With Poloniex, few can compete.
You can look at Livecoin or Yobit, volume of course not as high, but maybe you like the look of these exchanges.

You can short some altcoins in the Poloniex. You can borrow the coin from other traders on the exchange.
poloniex I guess is the best place for altcoin, so many coins can you buy there. apart from that there are also other alternatives, namely bittrex, it is also a good site for trading or buying altcoin

So what are your opinions on how legit bittrex, yobit, c-cex are. Your opinion on Poloniex is welcome too. Since i opened an account there just recently. Service was very good, but i have not tried to withdraw etc. I just saw this thread that the had (a minor) security breach a year ago or so and thought the handled it very honest and transparent... On the other side that the could not reimburse the 12.3% still means they are not to liquid...but open and transparent..
Yobit has always been reliable, but I've never shorted anything so I can't comment on that.  Be careful,  as you probably know sgorting anything can be extremely risky.   And yeah, altcoin markets can be extremely illiquid.

I think yobit is the best exchange behind bittrex and poloniex sometime acts better than them because it has many coins not listed in the other two.
do your own searching before any trade >

Hi folks,

from time to time i plan on shorting some of the altcoins. I know Poloniex and Bitfinex. Are there any other good Exchanges?

You can check c-cex and Yobit as there are also active traders there. Though the rates varies for a certain altcoins in different exchanges, there are only minimal difference.

There are some like c-cex, bittrex and yobit but both of them have lower volume than polo. But i don't know how you get that idea of bitfinex as they don't have altcoin trading other than ltc and bitcoin.

Poloneix is exchanger with highest volume in the field of altcoin exchanger and i also personally use them to trade alts.

And next thing is i think you should move this thread to this place here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=198.0
as this is not category to talk about alts services.

I woundn't trust other eschanges, volume traded is the main concern when it comes to alts.
