Going by the lack of responses, I don't think you're going to get any help.
I think that most pool operators are running their own methods, which they probably don't want to share on an open forum, or at all. Many pools are under attack daily by DDoS attacks, and posting the pool's configuration is probably a massive security issue.
I run a small network at work, and I'm not, and never will post it's configuration on the internet - it's just asking for trouble. A big flashing red sign over my IP saying "Hack me!".
I suggest you start googling, reading white papers, and looking at network security and firewalling.

We are running a litecoin pool and like too add additional global stratum servers to reduce latency for miners from different countries.
What is the best practice to do this?
a) install each external stratum node with own litecoind and own mysql
b) install each external stratum node with own ltecoind and vpn tunnel to central mysql
c) install external stratum node and vpn tunnel to central litecoind and central mysql
