Hey guys.  Have several mini PC's mostly 6 to 8 core Ryzen 7's with extra 1tb sata drives installed.  What the best use currently to earn something extra while they are online?  TIA!
I think you want to use them for mining, right? if that is so, it's not an ideal thing to use them. They're small and mini and mining requires continuous process and running of software in the behind and that's why that's not an ideal thing to use for them. CPU mining or HDD mining, you're likely just to lessen the span of its life upon doing so. Some airdrops like grass, allows you to install their extension on your browser and you can just leave it there as long as it's connected to the internet. They're "bandwidth mining" as they say but I am not doing it.
The specification of the mini PC is used for mining then it's not possible and I don't think it will be powerful, and it's not ideal for mining anymore.
The OP asked about how to make extra money, then if he is familiar with crypto then he can rely on airdrops to make extra income, many people do this instead of mining.
Although in airdrops it is not certain when the results will be, the important thing is to be consistent in chasing airdrops.
There are powerful mini PCs today and the developers are really making it look good so that there will be a transition of the traditional PC setup into mini PC. But even with that, we both agree that they're not for mining, they're not just ideal for that because they've been built differently and for a different purpose.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Good one about asking mining community, I may try that.  Yes, I realize what mining entails with asics or gpu's.  Obviously outside of the scope of mini's.

There are some different possibilities.  Like the suggestion about grass. Anybody doing it that can say what it earns?  I understand too that these things are likely to make pennies a day and not a living wage.   Just looking to maximize thing's I already pay for like my connection.
I haven't earned it and I am not doing it but those that I have seen that have "mined" grass through their browser were happy. The season 2 is in there and they're giving another phase for the airdrop that have become successful. There's no specifics on how much you can earn there per day, week, a month.

just use it to run several DePin's node app. for example, you can run grass, choose your preference whether you wanna run chrome extension or the desktop node app directly.
I think the most plausible way to take advantage of your several mini PC is this way, because lets be honest mini PC just doesn't cut it for PoW mining.

and also, other than that, i guess you can run validator that only requires minimum hardware requirement, such as Hemi.

be sure to not install scam app though, always verify the project.

Those machines sound pretty powerful compared to what one can use effectively for something the Galactic Milieu provides as a botnet-resistant variant of CPU mining.

You didn't specify how much RAM the machines have, but likely one can use less RAM than our tests so far have probably been using as I am pretty sure most players have set their tinyfugue clients to keep a larger backlog of history and things like that, so maybe it would be feasible to run 100 or more 24/7 worker characters on a single 4GB-RAM machine.

Number of cores is probably overkill though as text mode even with quite a few "triggers" and "macros" doesn't seem to take much processor power, we have seen well over 100 characters simultaneously running on an ancient DELL 4GB 2-core "core duo" type machine.

I think we hit 150 to 175 before it proved unfeasible, so 100 is probably pretty workable long term even on such ancient DELL machines.

EDIT: I see that ancient wiki page says closed to new users; that is no longer the case but that wiki is nowadays read-only so cannot be updated. Player accounts are now available to "civilisations", others should contact such "civilisations" to see about accessing such accounts without taking the step of forming a "civilisation" oneself in order to do so.

One example could be to have the pc mining monero (that's still a CPU mining algo right?)  that could probably co-exist with something like one of those "decentralized competitor to dropbox"  type of cryptos.  You could probably add one of those bandwith sharing sceme's also if you worked out cpu priorities correctly.  Although, i'm not sure i want to be involved with bandwith sharing.  I don't wanna be like a TOR exit node or something with scammers flowing off my home connection doing crimes.  Just giving examples.

I'm not sure how to move a thread.  If anybody tells me I will.  Otherwise I think I'll likely make a post in the mining area as that was a good suggestion.  I can leave a link to it here afterwards if anybody wants.  Thanks again!

It's a shame if we have resources but can't produce anything for us hahaha, from your thread, it seems to refer to mining & unfortunately, not all users on this board fully understand mining. You will get a better answer if you make it in Mining (Altcoins). Try creating a new thread there or at least moving this thread there.
