there is no trust in the bitcoin universe as of today.

there were VIP members here that have been around for years and were by default in the trust system, and even they screwed people over!

It's hard to trust people but that doesn't mean everyone can't be trusted, but you should assume they cant until proven otherwise. It's easy to become cynical here, but we all have to trust someone at some point if we're using bitcoin whether that's a buyer or escrow agent.

I only trust them when they are within reach of the DOJ so I can strangle them.

Starting with loans (even if you are offering them) would bring allot of people who are against it (because they would consider you doing "trust loans"). escrow isn't that useful either since no one would escrow a newbie. if you need to build trust I think engaging in the community and posting useful comments is a good start and after that moving to goods section and buy/sell stuff "and using escrow" would be good to get some initial trust.

I wouldn't get into coin lending business, its one big hassle with the collateral and all. Trading would be good, sell your BTC or items or buy something.

Its gonna be hard to begin escrow services at your current member status..! There are already so many trusted escrows offering there services for free, no fee [may be some donations but no required fee]. And Its not suggested either to use Newbies as escrow .

Thanks for the backhanded compliment, i think...  Wink

I was also posing the question to see if theres any type of verification service offered to users like confirming home addresses, email addresses and so forth.

Well you can get verified like that on the btcjam lending site, but verifying your details still doesn't make you trustworthy or mean that you wont scam them.

As per title, are there better ways to do it or is it simply time served on the forum?

One day I'd like to offer Escrow services but maybe lending BTC is another way to do it, although there is obviously risk involved in this :/

Only with time.

The more you interact with other users, make successful deals, and friends, the better will be your reputation.

There's no other way.

Why do you want to offer escrow services? This always rings alarm bells because why are you so eager to hold onto large sums of others money? There is no fast track way to gaining trust so you have to do it the long way and build it other time. Do lots of various trades and eventually you will become so trustworthy people will trust you without escrow, then maybe you can start offering escrow yourself.

Notso reading your post my first tought was "Damn, another DUMB SCAMMER"! However, by posting such a question you look too dumb even for a dumb scammer. As Dr. Pepper already told you: "there  is no fast track way to gaining trust so you have to do it the long way and build it other time." You have to do trades that you need to do, not only for trust.

Earn it. Be a transparent and trustworthy forum member and it will come.
Just go about doing trades. But do trades that you need to do, not only for trust or people will look down on you.

All good points, just lookig for ways to make a little btc on the side of a normal job. Will have to get buying and selling crap on here then, i guess Smiley

If this isn't about trust and you just want to make a little btc on the side, you could also try and join one of those threads that pay you to use their signature. But I'm not sure there are many for newbies like us.

Takes years to build up trust, even then you could be playing the long con (not saying you are) eg. build up trust to the point where you're escrowing large amounts of btc then steal the funds.

I wouldn't necessarily say years, but it takes time. Some people can build it faster than others, though. I'd just concentrate on being a familiar face around the forums as that will gain peoples confidence alongside doing various trades. IF you don't want to spend btc then you might have trouble building that. You don't have to buy crap you don't need, but you could sell it  Cheesy.
