I don't find Kucoin in this list https://register.fca.org.uk/s/search?predefined=CA

Gemini, Bitpanda, Uphold, and Bitstamp are registered with the FCA, probably there are more centralized exchanges that I haven't mentioned.

I don't really know what you want to achieve, if you want to achieve privacy you can use DEX.

Looks like i may need to go via a swap DEX site where ill loose a bit on fees unless there`s another simple option?

There are a few P2P platforms that allow you to buy cryptocurrencies directly from other users.  Have you considered the options of using some of them, like for example Bisq to buy Bitcoin? Once you have some form of cryptocurrency, you will have more options to find a platform to exchange to any other altcoin you want. As far as I know, DEXs are not regulated by the FCA, so you may have more options available.

Our over zealous FCA regulator makes it difficult to buy most alt coins in the UK

Just about every exchange like Binance, KuCoin , ByBit etc has restrictions, directly or indirectly, i.e KuCoin appears to accept business but the app you need to complete KYC is not available in UK.

Its endless circles
