I use coinbase just to buy ETH or BTC but I trade on Binance, you probably want to start trading on an exchange with lower volume first before using bigger ones. The only problem with exchanges with low volume is that there could be a significant price difference, that is, the price of the token or coin could be higher than what it is on a bigger exchange.

Coinbase is the best online bitcoin wallet to me. In our country coinbase trade doesn't support, we just can use it as a wallet. You can send BT, ETH, LTC, BCH from email to email or address to address  If you go for email to email version then he must have a coinbase account too. Only too coinbase registered email can send and receive, and it happens in a second. Just amazing.

And, you can send or receive that currency by address to address. If you have still doubt then you may have a search in google or youtube.

Agree with it! In my opinion, coinbase is one of the most convenient and functional exchanges. The ability to send funds using email addresses is very convenient.

At the same time, most of the attention I give to p2p exchanges, which, as a rule, have lower commissions for transactions!

Sounds like it depends on where you are based, Gdax, as mentioned above, is a better option. I'm looking at buying, but my account is in the UK. Gdax seems to be the better option, but I need to transfer money through to their European account before I can purchase, and that can take up to 4 days. Just investigating another option now that a friend told me about earlier, so I'll be back.

Just something worth mentioning since it seems like we're only discussion Coinbase/Gdax here,
one can easily use any other exchange, depending on your trading volume you might not even need to do KYC, and it doesn't matter where one is located then.
One can simply buy their crypto from Coinbase, and send it over to any other exchange, just so new people know that!  Cheesy
Generally, any exchange handling fiat seem to require KYC right away/early, while those who doesn't handle fiat, only demands it if you reach a certain trading volume.

My personal favorite is huobi.pro. 0.2% fee and very low withdrawal fees!
They're also #3 on exchange volume(https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/).

Binance has 0.1% fee's which I guess is better for trading, but a lot higher withdrawal fees, so if you're looking to get some altcoin, better to use huobi, or some other one which is cheaper for withdrawals!

Both Binance and Huobi lists alot of various cryptos, according to cmc, Binance has 330 and Huobi 230.

GDax is #12 largest by volume and only lists the biggest coins.
although if you're only wanting to trade those and have easy access to withdrawals, then I guess it makes sense!

I only ment to add in some alternatives so people don't get stuck on coinbase.
If you want to purchase using bank card = coinbase is great, and instant, and KYC is instant aswell. I'm not sure how many other exchanges accept bank cards.
with bank transfer it's also very cheap, but slow - and if it works the same with them adding a a few $ on top, it might be better to find a fiat exchange where you can buy 'p2p', depends on your region which one.

by 'p2p' I mean where you atleast can see orders at various prices rather than having to buy for 103%(example figure) current market, not actually p2p!
I guess one also sells for 97% current market  Cool

Coinbase is only best to use as a wallet not good for trading I think it is better to transfer your bitcoin from coinbase to other exchanges like binance, you can trade bitcoin in other altcoins you like and hold it for a long time, but make sure to always monitor the movement of the price and if you see the price is gaining above 10% of your investment you can exchange it and save your profit.

Another exchange site is cryptopia.co.nz and I suggest that you invest small amount so that you won't lose a large amount if you do wrong.

but i don't know how to use it properly to make some money or to trade!

Best suggestion, don't use coinbase to trade. Use any other exchange or use shape shift...depending on the currencies you want to trade.

Reasons to avoid Coinbase as your trading platform:
  • Additional fees charged beyond the miner's fee
  • Transaction tracking and reporting to independent agencies
  • Limited number of currencies available to trade

Going off what everyone else here has said, Gdax is the better option if you would like to begin trading. You can transfer your coinbase funds onto gdax for free. Check out the comprehensive GDAX beginner guide below to help you get familiar with the platform!

As others have said on the thread, a natural move is to go from Coinbase to Gdax, both belonging to the same Group, since Gdax gives you a richer control over your buy/sell orders as well as much better Fees. You can transfer from Coinbase to Gdax for free (see Transferring funds between GDAX and Coinbase), and the KYC you did for Coinbase serves you for Gdax.

Regardless, If you really want to learn the principals and concepts, I would read through the free online Forex course at the School of Pipsology . Yes, I know, it’s Forex not specifically crypto, but the core concepts are the same although they playout differently in crypto. Here you’ll learn concepts such as sentiment analysis (bullish, bearish), Charts (line, bar, candlesticks), Support and Resistance, Trend Lines, Stop Loss, Order Entry, and so on. This is the basis for trading.

You can a)do a direct trade at Coinbase wallet or b) transfer it to GDAX to feel the intense and action of doing trades.

Why GDAX? Because you can transfer your Coinbase funds there at no hassle method. But first you need to learn some basic trading knowledge so you should spend some time learning it first and learn the basics of how will you deal with "BUY LOW SELL HIGH" system.

Advance knowledge can be learned automatically while you are building experience. You can also used other trading platforms but for now since you are still new used GDAX at the moment to ensure a safe* transfer, at least.

I think it's unwise to trade on Coinbase.com, maybe on gdax.com which is part of Coinbase I think?
Coinbase takes a noticable fee with every purchase and sell, and also the prices are a few %s above market,
so move to gdax(I never used it, not sure if it's a regular exchange), or any other 'p2p'(?) exchange, that way you'll only pay like 0.1% fee on each trade.
Coinbase is only to instantly buy or sell+withdraw crypto, they're really expensive in comparison to other exchanges!

You should be finding videos on youtube about Coinbase tutorials. Give it a try. If you know how to use the search function in the forum then feel free to use it. It's not that hard. Give it a little time, you will learn.

Welcome to the forum by the way.
