The main thing is to lie comfortably in your hand (which is individual for everyone and an indication of a specific model will not help), and serve for a long time (any primitive computer mouse, due to its primitive design, will last a long time)

Logitech M510 or M705 are the only mice I would recommend that are of good quality and reasonably priced.
But I strongly suggest that you take your dad to the nearest IT store and have him try out the mouse in person. Different people have different preferences. You'll want to be sure he has the situation 'well in hand' before you proceed with the purchase.

Im personally using Logitech M590 bt/wireless mouse for year and a half and so far i am very satisfied with it.It is reliable, battery lasts for over a year, and it is not expesnive, something around $30.Very good value for money.
But if you are looking for something more expensive, i can recommend Logitech MX Master, its is an excellent mouse, but price is around $70-80.
