They are known to be a terrible instant crypto exchange and that's why I no longer use them to exchange coins that I want to sell. Why you have chosen them and just don't use an exchange like Binance or any capable exchange that will help you ease and avoid this problem that you have experienced with them. That keeping of funds and trouble of their customer for days is totally disappointing and if that happens to me, I'll definitely never use them in my life ever again.

Unfortunately, lots of wallets and instant swap exchanges are using their services, which means they'll get money from them even if the users never intended to use it. This is probably why their support sucks. As an alternative, I used Flyp.me in the past but their liquidity is not that good, the coins listed are limited too.

People doesn't really realize that on where they do make up some swaps that had been integrated on some platforms which is mostly on Changelly.

Im a avid user for Flyp.me but when I had experience on using https://coinswitch.co/ then that really change up my mind and I did stick with it.

Can't think of another option except using a CEX with the lowest KYC level and hope they don't flag you randomly.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.
Their service is known as sh*t, some or maybe lots of their users reported with bad experience towards them. Good for you that your funds got back for just waiting 7 days or so, while other's experienced are worst, ask lots of documents, KYC and still keeping their funds for weeks and months.
If you will search on google related to their reviews you will see lots of bitcointalk threads with scam accusations against them. So serve this as a lesson not to use them anymore.

Filter the wheat from the chaff.
Also had a very shitty experience with Changelly myself, similar to OPs, over 6 months ago.

Won't make the mistake of using them again.

I can sympathize with your plight, OP.  I had a problem with them last year and created a thread about it in the Scam Exchange section, after which I notified their customer service department that I had done so.  My problem was fixed, except for an extra amount of bitcoin (IIRC) that I sent for a reason I can't remember but which I wrote about in my thread.

And Changelly is probably the best instant exchange out there and yet their customer service is so piss-poor, can you believe that?  I think ShapeShift might be comparable, but I haven't used them in years and even then only once or twice.

I don't know what coin you were trading, but if it's possible I'd look for a real exchange that lists it and use them instead.  Good luck, and sorry you got screwed by Changelly.

I submitted an exchange with changelly and sent my funds as normal. The transaction was confirmed within 15 minutes. Their address had the exact balance they requested me to send. I talked to their live chat agent an hour or so after confirmation. He said there was an issue and that he would forward it on and email me when complete.
3 days later I had no reply so I asked them again. "I'm sorry there is still no update. I have forwarded this to our claims department, we will email with an update."

3 day later i still had no reply. I checked their address and saw that the money I sent for the transfer had been withdrawn shortly after my previous chat 3 days ago.

When I asked for an update again they said that I could either be refunded or exchanged at the current rate. Their exact words were to "use the original exchange you were on to see the current rates."

Bitcoin had obviously soared but my coin had also gone up quite a bit so I would have only lost about 10000 Satoshi. I told them to continue with the current rate.

They paid me my coins usd rate 7 days ago for todays bitcoin usd rate.

Long story short, I lost 50%. Don't trust changelly or their terrible customer service.
