If you have a channel then you don't have a choice. People are like that if not sure what it is and will result in reporting the channel as spam. Most likely things that channel  do is to provide real information and won't add any person randomly or we all that what will happen to the channel.

I don't think you need to report a channel for spam just because someone from it added you that is not fair. People are trying to grow their channel organically and want real user snot bots so they will invest you to their group. I have had good invites before from places you can learn how to profit from. For not assume everything is a scam. Just think about it. You know what is a scam and what is not.

Well, that was very easy to modify the settings on your telegram social media. I also encountered this before when I was a newbie but when I trying to explore how to set privately your settings that set into nobody's invite. Aside from that if the telegram group channel received so many times of spam reports they will block by the staff of telegram and even the creator/owner did not open anymore.

This is always happen to me when i always join in airdrop group on telegram. Everyweek some telegram users invite me in another another group.
After i change my privacy setting and leave from that group. Now i never get invited in Telegram Groups.

It can be avoided by just changing your privacy settings and anyone cannot contact or add you to a TG(Telegram Group). A lot of them are adding random people to their group which is "Pump and Dump scheme groups" and there is a lot of spammers and hackers in Telegram. Better to keep your personal information hidden in your profile and also the mobile phone number because some are in public.

And this kind of people are spreading throughout the social media apps because they know that some people are easy to manipulate or hack by just making a conversation with them.

yes its easy, but i have heard that using proxies on telegram will do that, means the proxy owner can add you to any group/channel without you even notice that cuz they groups or channel will go down our list for few days and then will popup which may make you think you had joined yourself (if you are in many channels/groups)

Yes, we avoid such type of mistakes if we change our settings but always check the particular group where you have added by yourself or by someone. Sometimes some particular groups are very helpful while I was joining some bounty because all the members are active and help each other. So neither every group is scammed nor real. So do check if you joined by mistakenly.

Yes, that is very simple and it doesn't take too much time for you. I had been always active in telegram and I know which group I willingly joined not just a random group. Just leave a hit the spam button before leaving they will never add you again. Once a group has been multiple reported as spam it might forcibly close by the telegram staff.

This is not a big deal for me because I easily leave or set my telegram privacy like this.

That is what we need to do if someone added us to the telegram group automatically without giving any information to us. I always leave the group as soon as possible if someone who I don't know added me to their telegram group. I don't want to see that they can search for a way to trick me because I already have a bad experience with the telegram group.

We need to be aware of that so we can prevent scammers that want to trick us because they will find a new way to get the people's money. But if my friend has added me, perhaps I will stay for a while and read more announcements from the admin so I can decide to stay or leave the group.

It's frustrating especially if telegram notification is activated that it keep buzzing just for a reason you'd been added without you even trying to join. Bounty spreadsheet s should hide or not required telegram usernames in their form to avoid these scenes scammer uses it to as if act that they're project have many followers. We should revenge by hitting spam,or even by messaging in their group that "how come I'm here" for them to be aware that their scheme is no longer working or convincing.

Before entering the crypro space its important that we know secimuritt measure like this even the smallest of thinga as long as it concerns security amd safety. Scams and fakes are already around then crypto space and they are waiting for their possible victims and newbies has the highest possibility to be theur victim because of their innocence and naiveness about things. As soon as you saw that you are added to groups, just report it and leave already, don't click any links and feed your curiousity for that might be a phishing just dressing as any link.

Actually, They never end. Scammers just pay money to promoters to add new people in their groups, scam them for 10-20$ and create a new group with another scam project. Seems like an endless business but If we hit spam and leave, Telegram deletes the group and this way we can save some of the users.

I was added in an exchange group once. Everything seemed legit but why would a legit exchange add me in a group. I find out that scammer was copying an exsisting exchange and selling an eth contract he has created.
Spam, Leave. Hoping that noone has fallen for that but it was very realistic.

Correct because it's inappropriate to add us without our consent and it's so annoying to see those unwanted channel popped up if we do something important, Hit spam and leave is the proper  way to do for that matters so that there channel will be banned by telegram and those owners will learn there lesson about spam adding.



I urge people to do the same so that all spam groups will go away.

Telegram bans the channels if enough person hit spam. So, hit it!

few times I was added to such groups, and every time I press "leave and report spam" button/
i think this is best behaviour in such cases, also I hope that telegram support bans such channels

I've added it to the porn telegram group so that the account number used for my telegram is blocked and can't use telegram anymore, you can also prevent you from being added to the spam group by going to settings then privacy and security then select Groups and you can manage the invite setting group to My Contact

Yes , this could be a very big help to everyone,  but incase you did not knows this you may simply click "report as spam and leave" so that the channel you have been joined without your concern might be reported to telegram, if many people reported that channel it can be deleted. Some people are doing some trick I do not know how the only thing I know is they can add many people in that certain channel because some projects uses telegram with numerous member to show off to the investors that the channel are active and many supporters.

I'm doing all of these and not answering any pm coming from anonymous people specially when they say a simple hi and hello, they should introduce himself to me and I will talk to them if we have prior conversation here in Bitcointalk.
Telegram has been abused so many times because there are settings that favor scammers, I prefer reading all the update coming from coins I'm supporting than engaging in a conversation, specially if it is about investing, and signals.

Telegram became a widely used media platform in crypto-space and also one of the tools for scammers to find their new victims. Telegram has a very good feature where they are so quick on banning a user if someone reported him/her as spammer or scammer but what I dislike in telegram is that scammer keep coming back because it was too easy to create an account using fake mobile number to verify their registration.

I have been seeing this too. One would wake up only to see he has been added to a particular group. I understand that of WhatsApp of addition to group without your approval because someone must have your contact to be able to add you and with a quick look at other members of the group you can guess rightly where its coming from. But for Telegram, I think its a deficient on their software because most of the times, only usernames is used in Telegram and I wonder how possible it is to just add people randomly who cannot comment nor respond to what is being posted. I have even been added to group which is for scam purpose and after a while, the group is gone.

In my opinion, most of scam happen on telegram after ICO scam. There was a time once ICO's are scammed us, but now so many scammers are active on telegram. Sometimes even me receiving same like spam and usually I report them and skip. But problem is about greedy people, they can't control their greed when they see some greedy offers. That's how scammer gain on their spam attacks. Telegram is only one social media that chosen by huge number of scammer. Main reason is totally anonymity. So click on unknown link would hack you as well. We should more careful about Telegram scam. Everyday scammers are finding new way to scam us. We should not give them that opportunity. Once you will discover that someone unknowingly added you any group, just better to report spam and leave. So almost you can say that your are safe. Don't be greedy then no one could save you.

Ok, it seems that this feature has been in test mode since April 2019 (more so in India apparently). I’ve read on multiple sources that it is ready to be rolled out to the general public, but I can’t see it yet on mine. Make sure you've got the latest version nevertheless.

I’ve read that it rolled out (at least in Spain) on the 22/10/2019. It seems that they are rolling it out in a scaled manner.

This is the repeated problem for both the telegram and whatsapp group as people add us without our consent to their groups.
Is there any settings for whatsapp also so no one can add us in that too ?

Am slightly disgusted this is even an option at all, let alone one you have to actively opt out of.

Someone doing this to me would have their nipples twisted until they went black if I could get my hands on them so whatever they're hawking certainly won't get the time of day from me.

To avoid this we should set always our setting private so that we will not drag by idiots to there scam channels and I wonder how the sane marketing guys do this kind of act while for sure angry users drag will report there page for doing so an got the same assumptions that all telegram channel who add people without permission is scam and the one I do when they add me without my knowledge is to click the report,post that this channel is scam and leave.

There is another settings that you can also change in telegram. You can turn off the automatic media download. This could also help avoiding any malware that is sent using telegram. It's not just random telegram groups that will add you to the group without your consent or without knowing about it. Telegram can be use to spread any malware/virus to your device by sending you a pm with a file or clicking a link that a telegram user sent.

Yeah, it also sucks when it turns out as a scam. The bounties are in your account but they are worthless.   

Before when I started using telegram, I participated in bonus programs. After a while, I discovered that the number of groups I joined was too much, really annoying me. Now to prevent others from adding you to the group, go to advanced settings and install it.

The important thing is, don't send money to anyone anywhere. There are a lot of messengers receiving from telegram, email and many more. That means no one going to offer good thing from random. You can change groups settings, just go to settings > privacy & security > groups and change it everybody to my contacts and save it. After that, your contacts can only add you in groups and channels.

It's a data theft which they do in form of online survey and sell it off to cold callers then to these marketing agencies who provide telegram members for a price.  This is the worst thing which I have encountered wherein I have been added to so many bounty  projects which I have no idea. I have been approached for a similar task by a random person about 0.84 worth bitcoin and offered me 30% which I have immediately blocked him because I am already aware about their tactics.  Newbies night get easily trapped in their scam.

Probably OP is a quite new user of telegram and this is the right thing to do. I had been used telegram for how many years because this is commonly used in joining bounty or crypto-related projects. You can modify your settings as posted by jhenfelipe. Probably that is because there is a service that offers on adding random members on telegram. They can automatic add you as their member. Leave and report them as spam there is a high possibility their group will get banned too.

Always remember that telegram is prone of scams and hacks.

That's why I don't use telegram more often anymore cause a lot of scammers spreading there. But you can avoid them if you are aware. Don't be fooled if you already see it obviously. It is right to report the group or the person added you in the chat group without your permission, to teach them a lesson and get them ban from doing so and again.

This is quite the easiest way, I must say it's so annoying when one is added to random telegram groups without their consent, most times immediately such users are added, they get pm'd privately by one member of the group seeking to extort money from them.

I didn't know about the steps you just listed, but I'll just quickly go and implement it, I usually just report spam and leave, but this method is by far easier, and it would prevent others from adding one to their group, so it's more like a lasting solution.

For telegram users, if you want to avoid such a hassle of being added on random groups:

1. Open telegram app
2. Go to Settings
3. Click Privacy and Security
4. Under Privacy, click Groups
5. Select My Contacts,  instead of Everybody
6. (optional) Under Add Exceptions, you can add users on Never allow too

Explore the Privacy and Security page to see what else you can do (ex. Manage your Blocked users, Who can call you, etc).

I am an active telegram marketting service provider and I strongly do not suggest to use member adding services. If you add anyone in your group unwillingly, they either hit spam button or start sharing unrelated advertisements in the group. Very few of them asks what is the group about and the group gets banned because of people hitting spam buttun in a few days.

Also, If someone added you in a group chat, leave immediately. It is 99% scam. This is how people scam others. They usually showi some proof of payment with fake screenshots and giving false statements with a few other accounts they own. So simple. Noone will send you 10 ETH If you send 1 ETH? Why would anyone do that?! Dont be fooled by these people. Think it this way. If you find a service that doubles your crypto, would you tell it to everyone or would you use it to make you rich?

Repeating one last time, If you have been added in a group, hit the spam button and leave.
