Yes, I regret not dumping 200 BTC into a Single 10 months ago. That 200 BTC is now worth $28,000. I am so sad!

honestly, if you REALLY felt BTC would have increased in value it would of been bset to buy 200 BTC with cash ASAP after placing the order, then you wouldnt of been out the mone) Smiley

Hehe maybe the 3dfx reference is apt.  But I don't know, the Voodoo 3 kicked ass Smiley

i just want SOMEONE to deliver a lower priced option for ASIC. i mean, with avalon the only game in town right now, the little guy (hi!) is screwed. all i can do is buy asicminer shares (and barely that...) a low cost mining device would be VERY welcome. shame BFL is the only one to offer one.

HAHA.  I paid in FIAT and I think the USD is actually less valuable now... I have no regrets at all.  No wait,, I should have wired the money to get my under #3000 order in. I regret that but no that much.

I regret that you did it. If you feed the scammers, they will hang around and cause more trouble. Quit paying people to destroy the BTC ecosystem.

Could easily be a scam, or a failed attempt at an honest business, but isn't the price rise a good sign?

I've been hoping their prices would rise, it seemed like the obvious thing they should do if 1) price of btc has risen and 2) demand for their devices has exceeded their potential near-term supply.

Then again, I have a little single on order, so maybe I'm just starry-eyed.

The price rise is a desperate attempt to staunch the flow of refund demands before they run out of money to pay Josh's salary.

ASICMiner is getting into hardware sales and we know those guys can deliver. Ordering from BFL was a risky proposition as it was with off the charts efficiency, given the risk of insolvency and danger of never breaking even on your purchases even if they do ship. Now the risk is increased even higher at a time when Avalon is about to ship 80+Th and ASICMiner is bringing online another 50Th. BFL's response? Lower hashrates, massively increase power consumption, and increase prices. Ordering from BFL at this point is a near certain losing proposition given the tremendous lead times. Good thing they sent out those discount vouchers to the people they've already fleeced eh?
Really?Where did you read this?

The prices rose and the performance fell, no that's not a good thing for a pre-order vaporware product. Avalon is working on a successor product to their modular units and we know those guys can deliver. ASICMiner is getting into hardware sales and we know those guys can deliver. I wish by some twist of weird chip-logic fate that the Voodoo 5's actually turned out to be great miners.  Be great to buy up a bunch of them for a mining rig hehe Smiley

I could Imagine this. 3dfx chips where designed that up to 256 GPUs could work in parallel. And this was in the late 90s. That's actually where Nvidia got their SLI technology from.

Just think about them further developing this technology until today.

Their new schedule:

Quote
Pre-order Terms: Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of April 2013. Products are shipped according to placement in the order queue, and delivery may take 2 months or more after order. All sales are final.

"initial shipping scheduled last half of April 2013"
"delivery may take 2 months or more after order"

What a joke. And I'm not so sure they will be able to make everybody "whole". They will send 50GHs for Singles and 25GHs for Little Singles.

What about power specs? I'm so glad I did not order a mini rig, I cannot imagine what they will send to "make whole" early mini rig orders.

I just cannot wait for how Josh is going to make everyone "whole" like he promised.   There are SO many amusing ways he can do that.   "sorry, I did not mean whole on your hashrate you paid for, I am giving you a 50% off coupon for your next purchase".....

and this is why i did not order an asic. way too much drama.
avalon batch #1 is the clear winner along with friedcat's thing.
avalon batch #2, whenever it ships, looks like double.
avalon batch #3 will be a single or a walk.
bfl will ship in a month or two i guess making avalon #3 a so-so deal.

IF BFL ships in a month. It's still uncertain if they will.

I think they will likely probably finally ship by the middle of next month. But it'll just be a few dozen units at first. It'll take them most of 2013 to fulfill their existing preorders is my guess, if their track record up to now has been any indication.

But hey. It's anybody's guess I guess. You may be right.

Remember 3dfx? From their last graphics card series only a couple 100s ever where build before they got insolvent. I can imagine owning a BFL Asic will be the same in a view years as owning a Voodoo 5.

Wow, "out of stock" on the mini-rig and "order now" buttons on everything else, really makes it look as though they actually have finished products. I clicked through to the checkout page without noticing anything about a pre-order, or having to wait for 250,000 products to ship before mine does. I was on the fence about BFL being an outright scam or just incompetent, after the events of the past wee I'm now quite sure that they are intentionally robbing people.

Avalon batch #1 is investing in Facebook when it was still a hacked up server in a Harvard dorm room
Avalon batch #2 is a winning lottery ticket
Avalon batch #3 is getting IPO shares in google

BFL is a great opportunity to learn what happens when a company goes bankrupt owing you money

Lol, I have to wonder if they had to raised prices to cover increased refund request like a Ponzi scheme paying old customers with new customers money?  Huh

Common sense will quickly tell you that this company is in serious risk of insolvency. They have zero shipping mining products and it's been that way for almost one year and I've seen estimates of 16-22 employees, new facilities, new equipment, failed chips, respins, etc...

Beat the stampede and get out while you can.

BTCFPGA/bASIC refugee here BTW.

ASICMiner is talking about shipping hardware without pre-orders at all and unlike these guys they actually have a confirmed working product. RUN AWAY.

This is only the first performance downgrade.  There are more to come.

Avalon's round 3 pricing will look like a bargain soon.

I LOVE how the "MiniRig" is "Out of Stock".   More like so far out of spec it would have to defy physics to hold that much Heat in such a confined space.....

Not to mention that residential power is likely not enough to run it...

This the earliest orders will never (not in 10 years) recover the cost of capital.  I am surprised they didn't raise prices earlier.

Regardless mining is already high enough risk.  Makes more sense to wait until products are actually being shipped in timely manner so you can evaluate

That being said I may still buy a Single.  I don't need to make a bazzillion % profit.  If I can mine at cost, then I can use the Single as a Electricity to BTC converter, and help improve network security at the same time (by using p2pool).  A win, win in my opinion.   It all depends on your objectives.

Of course there is no reason to place an order today:
Quote
All sales are final.
You get higher price, longest delivery time, lowest return, and the most risk (no way out if things go south).    I will wait until the backlog is gone and buy a Single then.  Like I said it all depends on your objectives.

I like how their shitty names have gone and they're selling by hash rate now, because they know they'll have to ship twice as many. Oh and power requirements have gone.

I'll stick with my Avalons and GPUs thanks. I prefer things that you know, exist, but I think its just me.
