Hi. Keep us posted. I have a Monarch that started switching off the PSU -- I have no idea why.

By the way, leaking from the little impeller pumps on the head sinks is common. Both my Monarchs started doing that within 3 weeks of receiving them. On was really subtle and the miner overheated before I noticed it was leaking. There are multiple reasons for this the main one being that BFL used a super-cheap cooling solution. If the system gets even slightly too warm the pump body deforms and the skinny o-ring that seals it ceases to function. You can make it last longer by swapping with a larger-diameter o-ring, but that is a temporary solution. Also the pump controller, if you should remove it, is virtually impossible to re-seat due to the super-skinny wire that completes the circuit.

What I ended up doing on the one that leaked and didn't overheat, was to disassemble the impeller pumps cooling the chips. I threw out the impeller and replaced the skinny o-ring. I resealed the pumps, which are now just passive chambers for the water to flow through.

Then I got a cheap Syscooling pump (similar to the Antminer C1 contraption) and connected it between the two ex-pumps and the radiator. Voila! No leaks. Avg 3 deg C lower temps than the stock cooling solution.

The hose barbs are likely to be different diameters so plan for some way to reduce one end. However I found that jamming a cold 5/16" poly hose into a warm 3/8" poly hose creates a perfect seal. You can't pull it apart once the temps equalize. But I put clamps on just to be sure. Grin

Just a quick update

tried this...
bfgminer -o -u -p --set bfl:_cmd1=F0X --set bfl:_cmd1=V0X

got nothing, but it didn't halt the psu

then tried this...

.......--set bfl:_cmd1=F9X --set bfl:_cmd1=V10X

This ran at 144 Gh/s, well that's something.   I'm going to run this for a while then look at upping the speed somehow.

Hi all, not posted on here for a long time and up to last year was only erupter/ant mining.  Well I come across a cheap BFL Monarch and tried to set that up.

I noticed green around the water blocks when I unwrapped it, seller assured me it was unused! (hmmm)
Then I rigged it to my corsair AX760.  I did one mod at this point and that even may be the cause of failure.  The fan has 3 wires  (red, black and yellow).  I read that the yellow on fans is for fan speed (hall sensor thing), so cut the red and black and wired to HD supply via a converter.

Could not get easy miner to work so went for bfg.

Tried both the...
Bfgminer-CustomBuilt-23June2014
and the...
bfgminer-5.4.2-win64

versions, when the miner starts up, after mining for 30seconds or less, it shuts the power supply down!
I bought a new power supply, corsair RM850 as I've had the 760 for  a few years and it does the same thing.  Simply shuts the power supply down after 30secs of mining.

I've mailed the guy who sold it to me, guess I'll be getting my money back soon...but I've had no joy in trying to run it slower, think I need some simplified advice as to how to do this.  I would like to run it much slower even to prove it still does not work.

I tried writing a batch file with these commands...
set /p x="F0D" \\.\COM3
set /p x="V4X" \\.\COM3

but running that seperate before running bfg made no difference.

Am I missing something else here?  does the miner send a command to the power supply when it overheats, that would explain things.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for my Antminer S7-LT, but would love to get this thing running.

Any help please?

Thank you
