TigerDirect will sell these at retail for at least few weeks to catch suckers. Then they will put them on clearance to rid themselves of the rest of the inventory. It's a lot easier for BFL use TigerDirect to liquidate its remaining 65nm inventory than for BFL to do so. TigerDirect sells older/refurb hardware all the time, so they are used to discouraging returns from happening, etc etc. I'm sure this deal is negotiated significantly in TigerDirect's favor. No one should feel bad for them.
Or maybe TD's marketing department is completely oblivious to the Bitcoin world and has NO idea what BFL does or who they are in terms of their reputation.

Verified Bernie Bro - Feel The Bern!
I wonder if Tiger Direct cares that they are now selling apparently non FCC certified products?

I also wonder how the hell the PSU they ship got a UL cert.  I wonder just how legit the UL cert is...  Anyone care to dig into it?

And most likely TD will have a steady stream of idiots who think they will see a positive roi buying the hardware.

See:  99% ASIC buyers thus far.

The reality is every preorder beyond Avalon Batch 1 has been a total LOSS from a BTC perspective.  All gains have been realized due to the 5000% BTC/USD or whatever growth rate.

So the sad part is many of these "idiots" buying BFL from TD might end up making money and seeing this as a huge windfall if BTC goes to $5-10K next year.  Of course then the rest of us are all along for the ride and I get to be a millionaire so hey let it happen   Wink

For those of you thinking I'm wrong, lets just take Hashfast for example:  50BTC purchase price.  "Market Value" of 400GH today?  ~5BTC.  Good way to lose 90%!  And no not even KnC was a good deal - it only looked good due to the increase!
I guess the most effective ROI and profit is investing hundreds of thousands of dollars and getting like maybe 10+TH/s.

After reading Tigerdirect's Return Policy @ http://www.tigerdirect.com/sectors/help/return.asp, what is stopping someone from purchasing one of those units, mining with it for 13 days (not that it would be particularly worthwhile), then requesting a return ?

If they keep it maybe we should all let them know how refunds work in the btc mining world. When they end up with a bunch of used hardware nobody wants I'm sure they will change their mind.

Of course this would be somewhat pointless since current bfl hardware is weak compared to the competition.

And most likely TD will have a steady stream of idiots who think they will see a positive roi buying the hardware.

anyone get the TD daily emails?

noticed some poop on it near the bottom of today's..

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!
35$ per GH/s.... I paid 28.5$ per GH/s for 3 of my Antminers U1.... But, those prices are better than eBay prices for 10GH/s jalapenos.... They didn't specify if they can't be returned or not, EVERYONE GOGO BUY 10 AND RETURN AFTER 29 DAYS!

Edit: I just noticed it says 1 per customer... Clever... Just order 10 with 10 P.O. box and under different name and gift card, easy.

Good luck returning a bunch of used hardware that way. Its not like you would even really benefit from running 10 jalapenos for 1 month. I think this is geared towards td users and not actual btc users (as we all know not to buy a bfl product)

For BFL, this is the only chance they have to "step up and deliver". Tiger direct doesn't care. They will just stop payment and remove the item from the online store. The big kick in the teeth for BFL will be people saying (30 days later), "This item didn't work, I want a refund"... Just because the miner became a money-sucker device as difficulty rose and is no longer a good coin-producer. And BFL will have to honor the return/refund... every return/refund...

This sound good but im pretty sure they thought about this already and have some sort of strategy against this Huh Don't you thinks Huh

Yes, that is sort-of the sad point...

"... have some strategy against this..."

However, I feel that this will come to kick them in the ass. They are scammers and frauds, still in my eyes, and thinking like scammers and fraudsters. They will soon get a strong taste of "Consumer rights", that comes heavily enforced with large-scale marketing. (Right now they are still back-yard developers, no matter how many items they produce.)

They offer no financial advantage or value to the market-place, and will thus, "do little FOR bitcoin". Again, doing everything for themselves. With that in mind, they will now become the AOL of BTC-Miners. Overpriced, no actual value, no actual service, and no actual reward... but it will get a lot of people online, looking for a way to cancel service they are unsatisfied with. (Like how AOL hid links and numbers for actually canceling service, including blocking links to websites that provided instructions for canceling service. Then offering some useless free token for sticking around for another month. Oh, I get a free $200 Jalipino if I don't return my $8,000 miner! Ok, gimme that energy sucker that no-one wants to pay for off your dusty shelves!) People used AOL for years, and never even realized that they had never actually been "online"... They were stuck in AOL's ad-version of the internet, which was just on AOL's computers, not on the actual internet itself. They paid $30 a month for going to paid-advertisers internal sites, paying more for items than those who actually found the items on the real internet. It was a great scam, while it lasted.

Tiger direct is not going to put a single item on a shelf. They are simply going to take a cut of the sale, for taking an order and forwarding it to BFL. This will be an online-only sale, like what amazon does. Amazon does not stock everything you see on the website in a warehouse. Many listings, most, are just forwarded sales.

Why would Tiger Direct do this... Simply because of this...

"Users who purchased this, also purchased this..."
- USB cables
- Power Supply
- WiFi Router
- Network cables

and...
"Users who looked at this, purchased this instead..."
- Bitmine miner
- USB miner
- Erupter block miner
- KNC Neptue

Will this be good for BFL... Sure, if they handle it correctly.
Will this be good for Bitcoin... Depends... As a miner, no... it places more miners in others hands, faster. As a value holder, yes... Miners will have to demand more and price will rise. As a user, no... value will rise, making it harder to purchase than before, later-on. (But it is doing that anyways... now it will do it faster.)

Clueless!
Guy's what do you think Sad is it good for BTC or will it bring TigerDirect down to the ground!

TigerDirect.com is going to sponsor BFL soon... http://www.tigerdirect.com/bitcoin/indexus.asp?cm_re=Homepage-_-Spot%2001a-_-CatId_campaign_bitcoinTakeover, click Mining tab and scroll down an inch.

I don't think 'sponsor' is the correct term. They are resellers of BFL products. If BFL can't deliver to TigerDirect than the store will only show 'out of stock' ... big deal.

My guess tigerdirect gets their devices slightly less delayed than normal bfl customers. Either way the only outcome will be many people ripped off (tiger direct and its customers) and a shitload of return/refunds.

Ripped off? How? TigerDirect will make an order for BFL products. When they arrive it gets put into the store. If they don't ever arrive, they never make it to the store to sell in the first place. And if there are returns from customers, TigerDirect will just return the item to BFL.

Do you honestly think TigerDirect takes the hit for all the products returned? really?

One does not simply return an item to BFL.

no, YOU don't simply return an item to BFL.

Ok so you are telling me tigerdirect is going to order a bunch of monarchs and should they not be able to sell them, get a refund? BFL's business model does not allow for this. Tigerdirect will end up with a bunch of useless paperweights like everyone else while supporting a company that has scammed like half the bitcoin community.

Except Tiger Directs Lawyers will rip BFL a new asshole and BFL will be begging for them to stop LOL!!!

the products imho will ship in 1 month and only be the 65mm products that won't make ROI by that point also imho tigerdirect will sell them via bitcoin in a special area ie no refunds on miner equipment..ie tiger direct will only sell stuff ON HAND....which for the next few months will only be 65mm asic stuff from last year from BFL ....if tiger direct takes paypal it will be even more of an ON HAND situation..but again I bet it will be BTC only for BFL stuff...so tiger direct can stay out of all the lack of shipping or refund hassles

if that is incorrect yeah tigerdirect will eat BFL for lunch...but right now i'll bet that is the above arrangement

that is my best guess (but what do i know i bought from bfl last april and have squat)

TigerDirect is big enough they might get better service.  Will be interesting if BFL sells through them.  If we see monarch.... we know big mistake.  If we see only instock all depends on price.

TG sells in-stock products.  BFL sells (now) in-stock products.

I think the plan is to mass produce Monarchs that is why BFL has partnered with them.

If I were BFL, I would go after newegg and amazon.com

I bet BFL wants to flood the market with Monarchs and become an AMD of bitcoin mining.  TG, newegg, overstock and amazon would help them get there.
Maybe their plan is to get AMD interested. You know, to be bought  by AMD would be a perfect exit strategy for BFL.

BTW: Monarch (butterfly) as a product name? Pure genius.

i bet the only thing they will sell on tigerdirect or elsewhere is the 65mm products from last year that you can't get ROI anymore....it is a NOOB honey trap by bfl

once bfl gets tigerdirect on board then they can talk amazon and newegg into it.....of course imho 5 months from now they all dump bfl for rma issues etc but hey

get what you can get in bfl's view

BFL "first to shout...last to ship" (bugle horn  here)

aw i see your point but it sound like you never bought anything from BFL and thats gooooood for you but BFL/josh owes everyone (BFL customers) for not delivering on time but good for you bro Smiley
I've got a little 5GHs box on my desk right now, putting up 8GHs.  I didn't get screwed like the big spenders, but I definitely won't ROI with how late it arrived.  While I'm fairly good at holding a grudge, the BFL hate on the forums has more than expressed my irritation for me, so I've moved on to more constructive things.  :-)  I am going to laugh the day they deliver on time, and everyone dies of shock.

Didn't they advertise December shipment for monarchs?

October first estimate October/November revised estimate. December/January second revised estimate and now that January is done so expect a February / March estimate next.

Four months late? Guessing they will need a new product for the community to make a claim for delivery on, clearly the Monarch has failed to meet their original estimated timeline and has beed revised 2x since that and still no packaged chips. Dream on they will have to admit a 3rd revision and then won't even meet that. This company will never provide realistic timelines they want people to buy based on phony "estimates" and ship 4 to 6 months or more later to cover the fact their prices make their products way over priced compared to more powerful units. They are losing market share faster than they can make up timeline estimates and vapourware.

Thing is, if TD does start selling BFL products, they would have to take the refund/return policy off of them and just only allow for warranty repairs. Imagine this, a customer buys 100 monarchs and returns it after 29 days, then they will have mined at 600TH/s for 29 days worth of BTC FOR FREE! Then, after they return it, they just buy 100 again and rinse and repeat.

Edit: Lol, I just checked out the mining profit estimator, 600TH/s breaks even after 2 days and then makes 3 million in one month LOL.

You just gonna bring home 100 monarchs and plug them in down in mom's basement??  You just gonna walk back into the same store and they will graciously allow you to re-order it up again? You don't think they will charge a restocking fee?  You don't think what you described is fraud and that TD will just allow it to go happen even once let alone rinse and repeat...

Ya sure great plan bro, where can I sign up?

Upon further reflection it would actually be cheaper for TD to just give you the 100 Monarchs for free.  This way they don't have to handle all the paper work for debits and credits and logistics of physical product every 29 days (which actually has a cost to TD associated to it believe it or not).  I strongly suggest you head to your local TD and demand 100 monarchs for free and please be so kind as to let us know how you make out as I would also like 100 free monarchs ASAP...
You sound very angry, I said "imagine." Who said it had to be 100? Start out with 5. And the whole POINT of my post was to say that TD will likely mark the monarch as non-refundable or that scenario will likely happen.

Local TD...? Never even knew there was a local TD... Is there a local NewEgg and local Amazon too? It's like you're implying there's a local TD everywhere like a Home Depot.

Because, despite the results of the forum poll, they are still the most recognizable, approachable ASIC producing company in the business.  Cointerra may be able to steal that crown, but none of the other companies look corporate enough.

Sorry, the BFL bashing is a bit of a dead horse for me.  I'm trying to focus on making positive progress forward, and this is progress.

aw i see your point but it sound like you never bought anything from BFL and thats gooooood for you but BFL/josh owes everyone (BFL customers) for not delivering on time but good for you bro Smiley

BFL aside, I think this is pretty excellent.  Overstock and TigerDirect taking Bitcoin?  We've been waiting for events like this.

Either way TD will have to deal with all the customer service issues, especially non delivery

Why would TD have to deal with BFL's non-delivery issues? TD is not taking over the entire business. They are re-selling BFL machines.

This will be great to watch.

Coming soon means one of two things:

65nm product coming at inflated prices

or

Monarchs coming in April.

Either way TD will have to deal with all the customer service issues, especially non delivery

Typically wholesalers (in this case BFL) float the retailers (in this case TigerDirect) and I'm sure TD is used to working in this manner. If it doesn't fit BFL, well than it's BFL's problem not TigerDirect.

TigerDirect's parent company does $3.5 billion of sales in computer gear a year. I think they have this shit figured out.

Would be funny if someone threw together a bunch of examples from this forum of how the COO of BFL often interacts with their customers in a public forum and send them to Tiger Direct.  I am wondering if he will call all Tiger Direct customers monumental assholes soon, nah probably not, even Inaba isn't that fucking stupid...!!

TigerDirect is big enough they might get better service.  Will be interesting if BFL sells through them.  If we see monarch.... we know big mistake.  If we see only instock all depends on price.
Pfft. TigerDirect isn't bigger than the bitcoin mining community. After all BFL products are aimed at miners, I don't see why BFL would give them better service if TigerDirect customers are just avid gamers. They should care more about giving us better service because we're the one actually using it and giving the reviews and recommending people on which hardware to get.
