I know this is an old thread but hopefully it will be revived! I wanted to take part in the waves airdrop, which looked pretty normal. I went on the Waves platform took screenshots sent them to the support people who verified everything. The next day I went to check my balance and it was all gone except for 0.0009
So I contacted the most likely scam artists support people at Waves and asked why that happened. They sent the usual bulxxxt reasons it could possibly happen and I got the horrible feeling that the whole thing is a scam and there was no hacker getting into my account info.
Instead the hackers were inside people, most likely the creepy guy who replied to all my messages within a minute, highly unusual for any busy real crypto exchange.

STAY AWAY FROM WAVES IT'S A DEFINITE SCAM AND RUN BY THE WAVES PEOPLE THEMSELVES. THEY SHOULD BE LOCKED UP BY TRUMP!!!!!

Waves is not the scam. They are an easy to use DEX and have verified and unverified assets. LPOS also is a great concept.

They are also one of the easiest platforms to make asset tokens on. I know of many valid and useful applications of asset tokens on there.

Unverified bitcoin and ethereum (and other) tokens are a known scam on the waves platform. These scams are run by scammers and not waves.

Anybody can create bitcoin token on the platform - the fraud occurs when the person who made the asset refuses to exchange them back for bitcoin.

Just like with USDT. Tethers are exchanged for US$. The fraud occurs if they refuse to exchange them back.

I think that maybe the project of DEX has some issues but the problem for this generalized low price is also the dex itself!
It's not user friendly and there hundreds of dead tokens. I didn't see any waves asset with big volume!

The wavelite app allow people to create their own tokens and trade within the Waves Decentralized Exchange (WDE).
So people create a worthless token and named it Bitcoin, Litecoin, Wavecoin, you name it, any coin you can buy at the market, and sell in in the platform at a lower price.
I bought it and found out it`s the fake Bitcoin. I complained to system administrator.
They just reply to me that people can do whatever they want at WDE and they won`t do anything about it.
If he allows to use his platform to scam others = criminal activities, then this makes him liable based on criminal and civil laws.

I need some advice what I can do next? Could I sue them? Or is there anywhere else I can complain to?
You can only sue someone you know and if you are not able to find out who he is or who scammed you then you can not sue anyone.

You can file a complaint at your local police and if you are lucky they will investigate a little bit and maybe find some traces that lead to the operator of the website.

However, based on my experience the police has not much interest to spend their resources in such cases, especially if the total damage is low.

So even if want to buy ethereum I have to spend at least $250. God forbid I want to buy a bitcoin, then I need $3000, this makes any deposit just a victim to your fees and the insecurity of the platform, a big waste of time and a nice fee over to shit site.

ummm you need Bitcoin to send Bitcoin, that's called a fee, and you need ETH to send ETH, it's called gas. All operations on this blockchain require a fee, just like any other...do you even know what a blockchain is?

Did you read the post you idiot.  You are talking about something totally different. Obviously there is a fee but unlike other site that take the fee out the trade, this site doesn't, and not only that it doesn't allow you to buy it either because you need the same currency you are trying to buy to actually buy it.

For the idiot like yourself,  that's like trying to buy USD when you land in a new country but you need USD to make the purchase.

For a trading site that is a very serious "oops"

The point I was making is this is how they scam people because it costs .001 BTC to withdraw your funds after you figure this out.  So a miner who wants to trade off $25 can't and by the time he withdraws it he pays a $3-$4 plus more mining fees.

waves has given back so much to the community( via waves community token, mobile go, waves go, Ripto Bux, Miners rewards, etc.) for keeping waves in the wallet, i probly gained at least 20% profit. i sold most of these free coins on other exchanges and got handsome profit.
ppl have no clue what they are talking about. any little mistake they'r quck to call a scam.  ethereum's DAO cost me money but i understand this crypto world is still new and ppl will make mistakes. its obvious
waves is 100% not a scam coin. that fake asset token on waves platform is made by ppl trying to scam ppl and not the waves team. isnt that obvious?

By the way I am very confused with this so called waves platform.

What sort of coin we can transfer in and out of this so called platform? Only BTC and waves? So all the other coins cannot leave the exchange or what?

I am thinking of buying

https://coinmarketcap.com/assets/coexistcoin/#BTC

Also another problem is in most platform, say nova, each coin has a code. Usually 3 letter. So there is only one currency whose symbol is LTC. Wave Platform doesn't even have that.

This is the problem with decentralization. Some people are abusing and don't even care to harm others. Now i'm thinking that we really have problems making decentralization a norm.

It is all about human nature...as they say when the cat is away the mouse will play or is the other way around? Anyway, when there are no clear regulations (or shall we say parameters) there is a big chance that things would be just mixing up irregularly. In other words, people can be abusive when they know they can get away with it.

This is a clear situation when a little control has to be establish for the sake of avoiding anybody taking advantage of potential victims. We should be desiring a self-regulation system in order to protect buyers from sellers who are scam-minded otherwise we will have a big problem and reputations can be damaged.

Right but the scam in crpyto currency is coming often from the controllers not the end users, perfect case is this bugged out scam site waves which has some very serious issues.  Look at this category only. hundreds of coins and ICO's and million dollar funraising for sites and business plans that have no chance of even turning a profit.

The entire waves platform is a snake hiding in the grass.  As I said I in my other post, not an outright scam but has the same genetic make up. Instead of flat out scamming these sites use creative bugs and hidden features and purposely left out docs that in the end have the same effect as a scam.

Just look at the damage control and promotion posts from people with 4 posts..  All these new russian ID's and a few posts later they have elaborate white papers and reasons why you should trade here. Its a all fucking scam like the DAO. Another non working app that was poorly thought out and quickly implemented and they are saying the same things as the DAO scammers. That this is just experimental and you should read how to use it and the risks.

Another signs of a scam is to follow the listings there. Like mny and co eval.  Both of these are being promoted by the same type of people and both have suffered tremendous losses under this platform.

Waves is a scam, the assets under it are a scam and the people you see with follow ups and promotions are all part of it.

It seems the entire life cycle of these forums is to indentify scams, watch the complains and comments of losts funds that range anywhere from a few $$ to a hundreds of millions and the defend yourself from the
russian terrorists and other scum promoters.

DEX legit asset is ticked with green mark. Everyone can create the same name token asset however you as trader should read first guidance how to trade at dex. Only green ticked is veified asset. In this case, the developers has nothing to do witn the other fake bitcoin. IF you can proof the the admin create fake bitcoin asset you can bring the proof who is the developer was involved. HOpe waves dev will solve this issue.

Let's not make excuses for owners who run financial tools in the millions and don't have the most basic things worked out. This is another project that has the makings of a DAO. Too many bugs and the obvious little things are not worked out.  I searched and there are hundreds of posts saying the that they have the Error and that they didn't know you need waves to trade and that you can't buy waves even if you have a balance. Most people would not except something as stupid from a trading site, but even after people acquire the waves they still have the error because now the next bug is is in play, the 1+ purchase rule.

Perhaps not an outright scam but definitely a garbage site where you will lose out.

Waves is a broken and misleading platform.  At first glance you think there was some brains here to pull this off but the end user experience is a disgraceful disaster bordering on a scam.

Scam #1 ,, you deposit BTC and you can't do anything, the platform suggest you got to faucet or a forum and beg for waves so you can make your first trade. you can't buy waves with your BTC because to buy waves you need waves.  bad start for a trader sending them to a facuet or forum.

Scam # 2 ,, no contact or support, they want you to post publicly about your problems on their forum with your address , what a dumb idea there goes privacy, one of the reason for using decentralized options is privacy. Second its a censored and moderated platform they control so you if you have a problem the public will never see it as they control this medium.

Scam # 3..  A BTC fee of .001 for a gateway fee..  Excuse me but after depositing BTC here and losing a percentage and then losing more of the scam waves token now I have to pay a gateway fee for using a blockchain to witdraw it and that equals almost $4 CDN . I pay that for 2 weeks of trading at a real site.

Scam $4 .. After being overcharged to buy the scam wave token the site still does not work and gives the error "Order not created"  ..  Now BTC is stuck, waves token is worthless and they suggest I go to a forum to talk about it.

The idea is pretty good but given how poorly #1 works you have to question the idiots behind this site.

Everything else is a dumb, untested, poorly designed and the warning signs are there for a disaster.

Chill.  There is nothing scam about it.  All you need is .003 waves for the DEX trade fee.  And sending .001 wave fee is less than a penny, so I wouldn't be that upset about it.

https://wavesmine.com/jumpstart   This will give you your free .003 waves to get started.  In the new update in a few weeks, this won't even be an issue anymore, plus the trading interface will have massive overhaul.  Community sections, messengers, polling, voting, and forums too.  And there is always [email protected] if you have any questions.

The problem is the wavelite platform administrator knew people are selling fake coin. But they doing nothing to stop it.

My friend, it's DECENTRALIZED exchanger.  Due to it's working algorythm administrators can't do anything about such situations. I feel for your loss, but in next time you will be more patient about new technologies.

I don't understand people who crying "scam". Peoples, this is Satoshi idea in work. Decentralized platform. Only you responsible for your money.

BUT. It will be good to show what coins are and what are not. It's very simple to do, a little piece of programming code  Smiley

Okay guys this exchange platform is VERY suspicious.

First I transfer bitcoin. I got .05 bitcoin. Then I want to buy waves and I need waves to do so. I want to deposit waves but it has to be through card. I noticed an address on top. I transfer waves that way. It worked.

Then I buy waves. Now I want to withdraw waves. Guess what? It's not implemented.

So I buy back bitcoin. Losing buy/sell difference.

Then I withdraw my bitcoin

TX ID: 3qWuqJ3u9bXNFnnXKAUqKFa5mePAHqPANwZFoYyaEj7V | TYPE: Outgoing Transfer | DATE: 8/1/2017 15:31:21 | SENDER ADDRESS: 3PQtRyFxte9hMechHF38z7UrNbEi3Cidw64 | TX AMOUNT: 0.04794651 Bitcoin | RECIPIENT ADDRESS: 3PFGuX41ShY9a8YtRVKdqq3AJNoWqWE1Bcu | TX FEE: 0.001 Waves | ATTACHMENT: KpeGntnBe5F1duoHbsw

What is this?

It's not bitcoin transaction id? How do I check if everything works properly? How do I withdraw waves? How do I withdraw or deposit any other currencies? The BTC should go to 1MDo5DJKHFLWixgZTvUcYKCfaaUx1yPGqn . It's not anywhere mentioned in the transaction id. I have no idea how do I verify if things go through.

Hi!
i came here reading the title, I am not an investor in waves but i heard in YouTube that waves token rose X3 in previous week, if the coin is rising and investors are getting benefit then how it is a scam?

If they want people to trust them they should get rid of those fake coins that are meant to deceive people into buying it,they should set up an advisory or at least a list of coins traded in their dex ,but so far had no problem with their dex because I monitor progress of the coin being traded in their dex.

Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
I did not say that we will not solve this issue. In the future, we will add a filter for asset names, and fake assets will be excluded, but probably this will require a hard fork of the entire network.

At the moment, there are green labels and default (Bitcoin/USD/EUR) assets, also user not need to change the asset from bitcoin section in DEX platform.

Complete Lie, If your software tags then you can filter easily without hardfork. you just proved to me you are a scammer piece of shit.

Those that can't code might fall for this lie but the majority understand what I just pointed out.

BTW TLDR entire thread just up to this post and I'm staying away from this scam of an exchange.

To make things clear I post the conversation between me and wave support.
As you can see, at first I only bought a small amount fake coins, I asked them to help me to transfer it out.
Instead of telling me those are fake coins right away they spend couple hours to help me to transfer them out.
That made me believe  those are true coins and then I bought a big amount of it. Suffer big lost.
And after a week they start to tell me I should only buy those coins with the green tick.
My question is why they didn`t tell me at first hand . If they knew it`s fake why they didn`t tell me .
If they didn`t know that`s more rediculous even they cann`t find it out how could I find out it`s fake coins.
So either way I think they have some responsibility for my lost.
That`s why I complain to them and ask for compensation.

Conversation as below:

Need help to transfer coins.

Because I need to check your account before I will start a conversation =)
At the moment, Waves wallet does not support the withdrawal of a Litecoin directly into the Litecoin network. But you can trade them on the DEX platform, just open "Waves Decentralized Exchange" (see third tab on the top), and then buy eg Waves or withdraw your bitcoins.

I don`t get what is DEX platform? It's waveliteapp ?  And where is the third tab one the top to open " waves decentralzed exchange"?

Quick guide
1. Choose a pair of assets you want to trade. Just start typing asset name, then pick the right one.
2. Take a look at orderbooks to get an understanding of the pair market.
3. Finally, fill the form and submit your order.

But there's no buying order at all. I cann't sell it here . That why I need transfer it to bittrex to sell it.
If I hold litecoin here and cann't trade it that make no sense at all.

Dear user. Let me explain to you one important detail. Waves platform officially supports only those crypto-currencies that are marked with a green tick. Earlier you came to us with the problem of the fact that you bought a lite coin, I told you that you:
"Tell me please, why did you buy LTC. We did not make any official announcements about the fact that the wave wallet supports the Lite Coin (I mean withdrawing to real LTC).
I have sent details to gateway administrators, and as soon as I receive additional information, I'll let you know about it in this ticket"
So I got a the confirmation that the waves platform never released an asset for lite coin and has nothing to do with it. In any case, this makes no sense. Why should we substitute ourselves? Why should we create an asset without an unofficial announcement? While all major currencies have official status (green tick). This makes no sense.
You came to us when you already bought and / or exchanged a fake coins.
So I said to you :
At the moment, Waves wallet does not support the withdrawal of a Litecoin directly into the Litecoin network. But you can trade them on the DEX platform, just open "Waves Decentralized Exchange" (see third tab on the top), and then buy eg Waves or withdraw your bitcoins.
So, I did an investigation and found that the waves platform does not have an officially supported lite coin asset.
As I said before, it makes no sense to lie to you or create a fake asset and do not talk about it, it just does not make sense.
We have nothing to hide and I can easily show any conversation with you If it will be necessary.

"You can put the "Ask" order or use the exchange - https://coinomat.com/#WLTC/LTC"
Why did I say that? You came to us with a problem, I tried to help you.
Regarding - "or use the exchange - https://coinomat.com/#WLTC/LTC"
Later I have sent details to gateway administrators, and I got a the confirmation that the waves platform never released an asset for lite coin and has nothing to do with it. In any case, this makes no sense.

and he tries to get this by posting a topic here in BCT rather than write to waves directly ..
He did after which his account has got blocked.

Proof they are just a scamming platform is that they call user stupidity for being scammed while it is very obvious the platform is responsible for having fake / scamming currrency.
Even more concerning is that they have blocked OP’s account while putting him to blame. In this very thread, the Waves representative has attempted to divert the discussion by accusing OP of knowingly purchasing a scam coin yet he himself acknowledged there were no ticks or other indicators present in an earlier post.

Following Waves’ actions, I would not be surprised if they are involved with scamming users themselves.

User stupidity, true or not, he should not be responsible for a platform allowing scamming.

Support clearly told him they did not support LTC and to buy it from their platform(AKA fake coins because all have no green marks).

why in first place would any platform allow to to be scammed like this and do nothing?

Proof they are just a scamming platform is that they call user stupidity for being scammed while it is very obvious the platform is responsible for having fake / scamming currrency.

How much % you make out of the scam's with fake currency to allow them to run without problem and to call the scammed people stupid?

I have already send my complain to wave directly , but it seemed like that they won't give me any compensation.
So I post it here , at least to keep someone else step into the trap again.

Any problem  or issue about losing funds or coins that was ignored by the seller or a site should be posted here in the right format, you have done the right thing by reporting this, but it is also your responsibility to update us on the development of your issues.

1. Theres a green tick beside approved assets
Sigh. There were no ticks which is the point of his post. The Wave representative confirmed it, since they ‘did not support LTC officially’.

3. what do you want? Also dumping your cash into something without a proper research is pretty askworthy .. imo such people should lose their money who think they can just get rich within seconds without even read up or check if the MEGA DEAL couldn't be true
I imagine he would want his account unblocked and ideally a refund of what he has lost to the scammer (which I doubt will happen judging from what we have seen).

After I bought fake litecoins . I ask the support to help me to move the coins out.  It even took couple days for the support guy to figure out those coins are fake. How could a newie can tell which one is true in this case.

Please make sure there's verified green mark, and check the asset id!!
Unique asset names are being tested on the testnet now, and will be released in the next mainnet update.

New members wouldn't know the difference between fake and real assets and I feel that it's better that Waves does check these asset names before letting users add their own. It creates a confusion when there are too many similar names on the exchange. Even main exchanges write the real coin name along with its ticker to avoid any confusion.

Yesterday , another people come to our discuss group said that he also bought fake coins. This time he bought fake wave coins.
He lost 15 bitcoins for it . OMG!!!

Really, this is decentralized, the people from waves team seems cannot do  anything with it,they should implement restriction from allowing to create  fake popular coins soon their site will have fake dogecoin fake ripple or whatever coin that newbies will think is a real coin.

Litecoin do not have a green tick, because this is not official asset And user saw it perfectly, but he did not want to know
If none of the LTCs listed had a tick or some other kind of indicator, one could not possibly ‘have seen it perfectly’, since there was nothing to base a decision on in the first place. Also, my comments were regarding how you have decided to handle the situation which is wrong no matter what you come up with next.

To be honest, everything is much simpler. If you are an idiot, you will lose money in any case. Even if the waves will block all fake assets, in that case you will lose money, but only because of your stupidity! It's not the fault of the waves, it's only your fault. Think about it, newbie, fake accounts (gsemep and maerts).
‘Fake’? Mate, I am not even a Waves user myself. If someone here must be ‘fake’, it is much more likely to be you (Free-Crypto).

I am done here. Cheesy

This claim is misleading and invalid, and you know it. OP purchased LTC which is not officially supported according to you (#8); there was not a single indicator present for OP to have based their decision on in this case.
Whether OP had ingenuine intentions or not, blocking accounts for such trivial matters show a lot about your way of operating let alone putting fault entirely on users for oversight from your side.
I am sure everyone who has seen this thread (with the actions you have taken in particular) will think twice before considering using your platform now. Good job, Sir.

Litecoin do not have a green tick, because this is not official asset And user saw it perfectly, but he did not want to know - "Why? Why this asset do not have a green ticks?" While other official assets have it.

This is the problem with decentralization. Some people are abusing and don't even care to harm others. Now i'm thinking that we really have problems making decentralization a norm.

Another question for you guys. Why did you use another (fake) bitcoin asset, if by default in the wallet (on the bitcoin side) the REAL bitcoin asset is always selected by default.

So, in other words, you deliberately used another (fake) bitcoin asset:

You deliberately chose another (fake) bitcoin asset, despite the green tick:

I did not say that we will not solve this issue. In the future, we will add a filter for asset names, and fake assets will be excluded, but probably this will require a hard fork of the entire network.

At the moment, there are green labels and default (Bitcoin/USD/EUR) assets, also user not need to change the asset from bitcoin section in DEX platform.

Like I say if the administer want to do something , there`s always something they can do to stop this kind of scam. But they just keep insisting there`s nothing to do with them and nothing they can do. And there's more and more victims. I don't understand why they don't care about their reputation at all.

If they are not going to address this issue, many more people will suffer the same, and blocking peopleand and not answering the issues are indication that they are not trustworthy, had similar experience with torwallet where I lost a small amount but they choose to block me than addressing my concern,I see similar issue happening to wavesplatform.

It is not weird for OP to suspect an administrator since they blatantly ignore a serious issue that has victimised and continues to victimise who knows how many yet they easily block OP’s account for wanting assistance after having lost BTC 5 (USD 12,614.29). Whether justified or not, blocking accounts like this is never the way to go. I have worked at an international company and had strict protocol to follow always. These people appear like hypocrites trying to put a new meaning to ‘decentralised’. I would not be surprised if they actually are involved with the malpractices described judging from what we have gotten to see.

They try to accuse me that maybe I'm the one who create the fake coin and sell to myself and then come to them asking for compensation.
Simple solution just cancel the whole trade . I get my money back , whoever create that fake coins pay back what he cheated .
If I'm the one who create it I won't get any benefit from it.

I just heard that one more person bought fake coins today . And he lost 15 real bitcoins for it. Why WDE administor doing nothing to stop this kind of scam happen repeadly?
It's so easy for them to stop it if they want to. But they just keep saying that this is nothing to do with them.

So I just open public access for your ticket (Anyone can see our correspondence. We have nothing to hide):

Also you are tried to withdraw unsupported bitcoin asset:

Also to my question:

You answered:

So, I have one very important question for you. How can you prove that these fake assets were created not by you? At least an asset for a lite coin? This is so simple, create an asset only for 1 Waves and trying to get hundreds of dollars as compensation?

While no one litecoin asset does not supported by the wavesplatform.

The problem is the wavelite platform administrator knew people are selling fake coin. But they doing nothing to stop it.
I record detailed conversation between us. At first they try to let me think those coin are really coin. I don`t need to worry.
And pretend to help me to transfer them out to my other account.
So it`s reasonable to doubt that they are the one who create those fake coin to cheat others.

And after I finally found out those are fake coins. They just tell me I`m bad luck. My money gone and never come back.
I lost around 5 bitcoins . That`s a really heavy lost for me.

Dear users of the Wavesplatform,

Any member of the Waves network can create their own assets and distribute to other participants these assets in the Waves network.

Someone does this to attract attention to their token, someone does thisto attract attention to their LPOS pool. Someone has too much free time.

Any token which is created on the Waves platform can be traded on the DEX platform, but only the real bitcoin asset provided by Waves platform can be exchanged for real bitcoin and have a value of 1:1. The real Bitcoin asset has only one asset id: 8LQW8f7P5d5PZM7GtZEBgaqRPGSzS3DfPuiXrURJ4AJS, provided by Waves platform and available on the main page of the lite client (See "BITCOIN" section).

Every verified asset has a green tick.

Any way, we are well aware of this problem and in the future we will add a filtering of names for tokens creation + each user will be able to hide the spam assets.

Thanks for notifying this issue. I also started using their trading platform but never knew that they would send fake coins which users have created in their account.

Sounds like people are abusing their "securities trading" platform with a simple bait and switch scam. Have you done any research into people behind it at all? Your post will help other people in future, but it's so easy to fake an identity on the internet and hide over the internet that you have probably lost your money. What made you test this platform in the first place, did you see an advert for it somewhere? Do they have a website or is it purely a phone application?

It's within the main waves wallet itself: https://waveswallet.io/

People can create their own assets and name them as per their wish. One wouldn't even know which is a fake btc or real one while buying/selling.

They will eventually get caught and this will ruin their business, the dev of that platform should go here to clarify and clear the site's reputation many people are now coming here and use their platform, right now any thread about their platform will get a post redirected to this accusation.

And I have no chance to get the money back. I even suspected that those fake coins were created just by WDE administrator.
They are cheating people`s money.
I need some advice what I can do next? Could I sue them? Or is there anywhere else I can complain to?
At least to spread this information out . Don't let more people fished by them.

I keep all the information about the trading information and conversation with the WDE administrator.
