Exchanges need to gear up their security things, after Cryptopia its Binance hackers are getting smarter. Anyway, there has been rumours around that it was an inside job.

Well, this is the probably the reason of why the initial bullish was interrupted as i believe that the hackers are selling them right now making the market prices to fall once again. Hopefully the other exchanges will improve more their security system.
Might or might not be one of the reasons why that price rally didn't continue. This isn't really surprising that hacking incidents do mostly happens
when btc price is surging up and its unlikely to happen when the market is being dumped.Good thing that Binance do able to handle the situation
well and there were no users funds been affected.
Hackers are tempted to hack once they see that the price of cryptos is pumping but there are also times that a hacker can attack even when the market is in bad condition because they do need the cash badly  .

Its also normal for the bull/pump to be interupted because people will always sell their assets once they see that the market is improving  or maybe your right that the interuption is caused by the recent binance hacked  .

It's already taken care of, but there are gossips that it's just a publicity stunt for their outcoming DEX but as long as they can keep the funds safe and secure investor's funds, they can do what ever media stunt that they want, they are the number one and their coin is doing great in the market, this is a great feat for the team.

People are messed up.

Nothing of what Binance has gone through made it look like they are doing this as PR stunt to boost their DEX, which isn't even a true DEX. Binance losing 7000BTC is negative marketing for the exchange, not the other way around. On top of that, Binance doesn't need such pathetic moves to generate publicity for their DEX. Everything that Binance touches turns into Gold.

People see ghosts where there aren't any. The only thing I do find unfortunate is that CZ for a moment thought about a re-org, but other than that, he has done plenty of communication through Twitter, which is always a good thing. Other exchanges that were hacked released just one statement/update per day, which is something they should improve since communication with users is the most important thing in such a situation.

I am trading on Binance as well. Yes, had a notification on the bitcoin stolen and yesterday we had system upgrade for almost six and half hours. Now i am sure everything is in place much safer than it was earlier. Hope Binance will remain so awaken so that none would be able to get back into hacking.
I was asleep for the past 3 weeks and binance was hacked?  Shocked. I didn't know that a good exchange with high security, will be hacked. I am using binance in trading since it has a lot of coins that I like. I just checked my wallet on binance, my funds are safe luckily.

Everyone funds were saved in binance even after the 7000$ hack. Binance had established SAFU fund from which they used the money to recover the lost funds of the people. This is a example of an big exchange who has take precautionary measures for any unforeseen bad incident.

At least they are returning all funds so nothing lost from a user perspective
Yes Binance has officially said in their first tweet that they will cover the cost and that is something you would never hear from another exchange. It is just Binance that tried to calm people down who had lost money and controlled the chaos. They have come back strongly with a much strong security system this time.

binance events hit by hacking 7000 btc may be used as a lesson if the market as large as binance has a weakness. This must be corrected and the strength of binary defense must be strengthened so that the hack incident does not happen again

That is a good thing to do, they are lucky they have SAFU fund and what the hacker stole isn’t more than the figure they announced. They still need to be more careful because if they get stroked again, they might head towards the line of cryptopia. Now cryptopia has liquidated as a result of the hacking that was done on their own exchange which they could not recover from.

Binance is just is lucky because they already have a very large users and volume that is giving them profit everyday amounting to millions of dollars. Now that they have opened their deposit and withdrawal again, all necessaries activities will resume.

Yes, people have huge faith in the Binance exchange which every one should be waiting for the update about the hacking. Of course, already team from Binance mentioned they are going to release the finds from Safu to the people who lost the money and it is the indication of long vision.

After what happened with Cryptopia, I am getting really nervous in keeping any of the cryptocurrencies in exchanges. The problem is that they never tell us the truth. Look what Cryptopia did. At first, they claimed that the losses are not as large as expected, and they will be resuming the operations very soon. They even started trading for some pairs. And then all of a sudden, the site has closed down.

Now how can we be sure about Binance? These guys are also saying that the exchange will not close down. But still no external audit has been done on how much they lost during the recent hack.
We can’t really compare the base of Binance to that of cryptopia, cryptopia couldn’t manage their because they are small and didn’t get enough fund to run the exchange further, but Binance being the largest exchange, there is no way it will be possible for hackers to steal more than what they stole which is not enough to damage Binance.

I know that no money is too small to lose, but the loss cannot really damage Binance, although right from onset, it is not advisable to keep ones fund in an exchange in which Binance itself even advised user against it, but I know Binance would have done the needful to ensure this will not occur again.

Perhaps because cryptopia has been hacked twice the same week. The site has lost 10% of its assets, which is far too much for an exchange like cryptopia. A liquidation and closing the company is often decided by a justice court not the company itself. Just to say that finally Cryptopia didn't have the choice to close the doors

7000BTC is not a big drama for a site like Binance, it will absorb the loss quickly
cryptopia and binance has difference strenghtness.binance could generate billions dollar profit so far in their journey and they use some profit as reserve fund if something wrong happen.meanwhile cryptopia has no this strenghtness.and liquidation be their option due too many loss in this case.

Let's talk the Logic,

If the Binance where it is the biggest exchange and well known can be hack,
How about ordinary wallet service ?
Is it just a matter of time to happen on us ?
Certainly. This is the point of concern and it should be the point of concern for every exchange out there to make sure they have a great security system. Binance has made great money and was able to recover from the loss but I doubt for any other exchange to do so. So what needs to be done right now is to make the security system much stronger and only then a crypto user would be satisfied.
All exchanges are vulnerable to hacking, we already know this, what we need as users is the assurance that our money will be recovered in the event a hacking incident will happen. They need to ensure us that, and they have to find ways to ensured the money that are in their exchange circulating.

I am talking of an insurance policy here wherein a certain exchange will have to add as part of their strategy to secure the money from hack.
It could be costly on their part, but this helps to lower the risk.
That is true. Not just Bitcoin but every exchange/website could be hacked because it is rather a gamble of coding and decoding. But the best part of Binance is that they announced on the spot that they will cover the loss which kind of kept the trust restored. But this is alarming no doubt and they would have worked a lot over their security. The rest of the exchange need to be fully prepared to counter such hacks.

Ok, as per CZ's tweet they have started testing trading now. So let's see how it goes. I'm pretty sure that prior to going on production, they have implemented much tougher security. They've learned a valuable lesson's from the hack and that is why Binance remains that top exchange because they improved things around their exchanges. Unlike those exchanges that have been hacked before, they usually closed, and didn't refund their customers.
They really need to change their security expert; any security expert that is a guru should be able to think out of box, thinking out of box in the sense that, he should be smart enough to know every loop holes that a hacker can use to break the system down.

If they had used a better security expert, it is not now that a hacker should be showing them where the security bridge is for them to start learning on how to fix them. I just hope that this time around, they have no loopholes left for these hackers to take advantage of again, otherwise, if this befalls them second time, they might lose their reputation completely.

Do we know exactly how it was stolen? Like the way they stole it, I am pretty sure binance is either working on covering that loophole or covered it already. If they haven't found how or at least haven't fixed it then they can keep it a secret of course so same thing wouldn't happen but if they have fixed it I would really love to learn how they hacked something as big as binance.

They still haven't released many details. I'm not sure they ever will.

I read some of the CEO's tweets and he suggested none of their servers were hacked. He said the reason everyone is urged to update passwords/2FA/API keys is because this was a matter of individuals getting their accounts hacked. They have no idea how many accounts are still compromised by the hackers.

I don't know how long it could stand, today it was 7 thousand bitcoins, maybe tomorrow it will be 70k bitcoins ?

I think only an inside job could cause that. They said they keep around 98% in cold storage. Hopefully they have good multi-sig cold storage practices.

These hackers are trying every single possible way to hack binance and binance is trying to protect themselves all the time. I don't know how long it could stand, today it was 7 thousand bitcoins, maybe tomorrow it will be 70k bitcoins ? Who knows. As long as hackers keep trying millions of times every single day there is absolutely no way of knowing if binance will be hacked or not again, I am betting at least once more and possible even more if they continue to operate.

Its a bit hard to believe that exchange like Binance can be hacked for such a huge amount. Good thing amount such big exchanges are that they keep their customer on priority so no user funds will be affected. Binance has resumed deposit and withdrawal of funds after one week. All users must use 2FA security and should keep safe from telegram channels which assure you to return more ETH or BTC if you deposit some of the coins there. Sharing your wallet information on any unknown weblink may lead hackers to hack all your funds, be safe all the time, keep your funds in different wallets instead of keeping it in a single wallet.

This had been what have is trending for the past few days, everybody is wondering how to biggest and most secured exchange in the world could be hacked and 7000 btc stolen without them figuring out until the deed as been done. This really speaks bad of the crypto space because a lot of persons who wants to come onboard and here this kind of news would love to withdraw immediately in order not to end up losing his/her funds to scammers, I think exchanges need to take the security of their platforms seriously.
It is very possible for the sharp hackers to hack after doing some homework. I think that Binance badly needs to improve its security system like Pentagon’s security system which is I think could not be hacked. But the market is not really affected by the hack of Binance because we are still getting the rise in the value of Bitcoin and to be honest, more and more people are speculating.

This is just a great message to still promote Binance over other exchanges out there. The security of the exchanges might seems to be one step behind compared to those hackers out there. This might be one of the reasons why some governments so not promote cryptocurrency, for security reasons.
That is why I would not really blame Binance but those stubborn investors who left their coin on the exchange wallet, because even CZ quoted and advised that no one should store coin on an exchange including his.

Everyone knows that a public or general wallet cannot really guarantee the safety or security of one’s investment, so having a wallet that we can have a private key to is still the safest, provided we keep the private key too safe, and I also agree with you that it is one of the reason why government are not completely comfortable with cryptocurrency even though some of them are secretly participating too and taking profit.

There is no correlation between an exchange hack and any wallet hack. Actually, according to Binance, they weren't really hacked.

The hacker got hold of a bunch of 2FA codes and login information by social engineering their victims (phishing attacks, virus, etc), so there was never an invasion. If you download a fake wallet or fall for a fake "please put your seed to get double BTC" website, then obviously the same will happen to you. That's obvious.

If you have a good OP sec, hardly anything will happen with you. And even if it does, if you have a hardware wallet, everything will be fine. No hack, no coins lost.
That would even be the wrongest excuse they can make for what happened through their system, it would even have been better that they were hacked because that one is understandable, because it  is usually a battle between 2 solid hackers.

Those who are also protecting the system are hackers, but just that they are legalized hackers to look for every loop holes that the bad hackers can use to manipulate the system, but to say they got access to 2FA codes and login information, that is absolutely going to be the biggest mistake from them, and if the fault is from the victims, why are they promising them that their fund is “SAFU”

The binance statement is very good, this big exchange is responsible for all their carelessness and this is sometimes not owned by other exchanges. Binance is a professional exchange, when there is a problem they are able to provide a solution so that the users stay afloat.
I'm sure that after this, binance will be increasingly strong in terms of security, so there's no need to worry even though I don't guarantee it.

This is an effective suggestion for Binance users, but for those who trade every day it will be quite difficult not to leave the funds financed because they trade. As I said above, this is a hard blow for binance to improve security and I'm sure binance will improve this for the better.

I saw this news about Binance hack and that is very large amoun of money. But even that happen Im still here at Binance because I still believe to that exchanges site and for sure millions of traders still trade to binance will still there what happen.
We need to secure our binance abount so the account will not hack by the others if you still have funds to binance transfer to wallet and transfer to binance again if the coin you will be trade to fiat for your safety.

As we see, even the safest exchange is not secure as well as all the deals online. We never know what can happen the next time. Over 7000 BTC was stolen this time, and people suffered. better do not keep your crypto on exchanges.
Luckily it didn't have a bad effect on the market, because news about hacking like in bitfinex and mt gox, made the market fall very deep, but at this time the price rose very high. strange.

Yeah, every centralized exchange does have such a risk, even if they are big sites thought. they still have the possibility to be hacked. you right, the tips don't keep all your money exchange mate

I like this part of the message: "Exchanges are vast stores of crypto so are natural targets by hackers. Don't ever leave your funds on there. If an exchange like Binance can be hacked, it speaks volumes about the ability of hackers to penetrate other exchanges."

This is just a great message to still promote Binance over other exchanges out there. The security of the exchanges might seems to be one step behind compared to those hackers out there. This might be one of the reasons why some governments so not promote cryptocurrency, for security reasons.

We should know by now that there are no safe exchanges. Hackers will strike anywhere, whenever they feel like to so that is out of the question.

That's why we also tell newbies that to be safe, keep your coins wherein you have total control of. At least in a event of a hack on exchanges, you will not be affected. Although Binance has calm their account holders that the money will be returned, but how about those exchanges who don't have SAFU?

If the Binance where it is the biggest exchange and well known can be hack,
How about ordinary wallet service ?
Is it just a matter of time to happen on us ?
There is no correlation between an exchange hack and any wallet hack. Actually, according to Binance, they weren't really hacked.

The hacker got hold of a bunch of 2FA codes and login information by social engineering their victims (phishing attacks, virus, etc), so there was never an invasion. If you download a fake wallet or fall for a fake "please put your seed to get double BTC" website, then obviously the same will happen to you. That's obvious.

If you have a good OP sec, hardly anything will happen with you. And even if it does, if you have a hardware wallet, everything will be fine. No hack, no coins lost.

Let's talk the Logic,

Personally don't think the regular joe should be that concerned about the risk arising from this.

You need to consider the rewards/effort ratio for hackers. Exchanges are vast stores of crypto so it is certainly worth putting in the effort to steal from them.

Contrast this to regular folks with perhaps just a few BTC within their wallets. Totally not worth the effort on the part of the hackers.

That's how it works in everyday crime too right? Rob bank => lots of effort => tonnes of money. Rob old lady on street => minimal effort => lesser payoff.

Think the best way to avoid a hack on your funds is to avoid being a target to begin with. ie. don't announce to anyone you own crypto. Don't go on social media saying stuff like "I am all in 5k BTC" like some clowns on Reddit. Criminals will track you down LOLz

There is already a thread about this here is the link .
But anyways just as I said on the other thread thanks to them no user funds are going to be affected.
But the trust of their user would surely be affected by this incident.
It would really be affected yet I have already pulled out my entire funds with this exchange and only make deposit when I do tend
to make trades and not letting my coins sitting there for too long. This had been said a thousand times already that don't store up your
crypto on an exchange yet theres no certain thing when it comes to safety matters.
This will directly change the value of trust in the Binance exchange. Whereas previously binance exchange was known as an exchange service that had a very good reputation. now a community like you is the same as I think that now I am worried to save a large amount of bitcoin. I feel that saving Bitcoin in a wallet like Ledger is the safest thing.
I have been using the CoinsBank platform for several years.
During this time, there were no problems and the theft of my bitcoins
They have in my opinion one of the best security systems
Try it and you will be satisfied with the quality of the transactions
And pay attention, from 9 to 13 June there will be a blockchain cruise
It will discuss various topics in the crypt world, well-known speakers are expected to speak.
Including the topic of security exchanges will be raised

Why this news popping up on every section?

Already Binance support said there is no funds from the user will get affect from this they are going to refund all the lost funds so nothing to blow up here any more and they will increase their security to keep their reputation at its best.
The issue is important from security point of view and though no user will be affected by the theft which is very nice of Binance, the security concerns still roam around in the air and this is why people want to talk about it. But it is simply a very patient and clever attack on the exchange getting access to API keys and 2FA of the users with big assets on the exchange.
This thing affects Binance more than the people they stole from, because they already guaranteed investors that their funds are SAFU, which means they are the one losing the entire stolen money, so we should just allow them be, to deal with their problem.

Whatever we say now will not bring solution to their problem, but rather compound it for them, because they don’t need a damaged reputation now, whatever affects Binance will surely affect lots of people and investors. We should focus more on how to continue protecting our own fund and just learn from their mistakes and mistake of the coin holders.

What do you expect from this big opportunity given to FUD news carriers, if Binance had covered it and didn’t say it to the public, would they have known, but because of their transparency, they made it known to the public, now everyone wants to carry the news that Binance announced themselves?

People even speculated to the extent of saying it will affect the price of bitcoin which I don’t see any relationship between the 2 because the amount in question cannot even cause a decrease of $10 in Bitcoin market talk less of creating a big dump. I wish we can promote more of or good news with full force like the way they promote bad news, anyway, I feel for Binance and God is their strength.

If that's the case with binance, I think it's not a big problem with bitcoin's price recovery. Every user had a secured deal with this trading site making their funds more confidential, as they continue their trading activities without any hesitations. With that matters that came out lately, I guess the news popping because many groups monitored some issues; which they thought it will affect btc price to decline after such increasing trend happening. Gladly, people with strong motivations these days isn't really focusing on what's negative stories behind, what they only look for is progress on their asset.

Binance is one of the most popular if not the only exchange that is well known for crypto traders, and that amount is so small compared to what they make a year, if they were not so honest about it no one would have even noticed it, because no one is going to have his funds stolen, they said that so themselves, if anything this proves how trustworthy they are, and this is something that shows their security flaws that i am sure that they are going to be fixed, and probably the hacker will be traced and the addresses that the funds went to will be blacklisted.

API keys were removed and security breach information has been shared in their site directly.

Still this is big amount there is no affect on crypto market. That is why people are keep on asking it. They have showed that transaction made from the reserve wallet. It has few segwit and blockchain wallet address there.
In segwit addresses those high amount were reflected. It seems some plan has been made and people being scammed by bianance. That is why this much questions araising.

What do you mean being scammed by Binance? I haven't seen any questions or issues so far except the withdrawals/deposit has been halted. But it's obvious they need to do that to look at things closely and try to understand how they've been attacked. CZ has lots of tweets already assuring that everything will be covered by their SAFU so I don't know if you can call that a scammed unless I'm missing something here.

Do you mean that the Binance team is the backbone of the issue? Have too many questions raising. But i dont think Binance would do it to cover the market as it has set up a strong pillar in the crypto market. Breaches do occur in the large and popular finance sectors and this is the biggest challenge though. I am sure Binance will still update/upgrade its system to avoid such breach incidents.

If Binance which is a top exchange could get hacked, what more with smaller exchanges?
That's the reason why I'm not storing my holdings and funds in exchange. It should be a lesson learned for us not to hold our funds in exchanges for the long term. I still find hard wallet safer to use.

I wonder if I'm reading a post from 2013... Did you not learn the lesson with Mt.Gox?

At least Binance claims to have kept it to a minimum in the hot wallet and the losses only account for "2%", to be replenished from their own pocket.

Still i would love to learn more details on how this was perpetrated and what steps will be taken to prevent it.

I saw the hacking TX in the blockchain which is happened at Binance
Here is the TX https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/e8b406091959700dbffcff30a60b190133721e5c39e89bb5fe23c5a554ab05ea
The Hacker took 7074 BTC step by step.
But finally, nothing worry about our balance. It will be recovered by Binance

To be honest, 7074 btc was a big amount of bitcoin that lost from binance, and that is not easy to recover the balance. But I hope that binance can cover the losses of the member so the members will not be worried. That will be another lesson for binance to upgrade their security so this problem will not happen in the future, and it does not make people worry.

but Binance users can trade as normal.
True, but I'm not sure if you can even deposit funds to trade with right now.

Yesterday, withdrawals and deposits were all suspended, I haven't check yet, I might try some withdrawal now to check if they are back in business.
Nope, everything is still suspended as of the time of this writing.  I have some NEO that I just bought yesterday that I want to get off Binance as soon as possible, and I'm not sure what's taking them so long to restore deposits and withdrawals.  Binance has never given me a problem, but I can't say I trust any crypto exchange completely--especially when simple functions like this are suspended.  It makes me nervous.

It is both a lot of money and not a lot of money at the same time. Now, from traders perspective it is a lot of money, because not many of us would have that much of money ourselves and that totals to something like 40 million dollar so thinking that much money gone from somewhere would make you think that is a lot of money.

On other side hackers did got away with 40 million dollars which is a lot of money as well and they are rich now and I wouldn't know what to do with that much money. However, at the same time for binance that is not really a lot of money. Binance is a huge company that makes a ton of money every single day so it is not that big of a deal for them, they will recover from this with relative ease.

The whole bitcointalk forum have been filled with this news of binance hack and like I said before this is an unfortunate accident because even CZ himself stated that the hackers have displayed some weakness in the security system which will be worked on. As big as binance being hacked at this period is such a big lost 7000 bitcoin is such a huge amount.
It's because for one, Binance is the best exchange and second, there could be someone around trying to make a FUD and create panic and third, I'm sure there are a lot of Binance users here. So it make sense to really discuss the status of the crime and what will be the next steps of CZ and when are he going to allow withdrawals and give back those who have lost their money because of the said hacks.

Binance is the most popular exchange in crypto IMO, and I am a proud user of this site.
The hack happened and they were able to handle it properly, though the money was really stolen but Binance users can trade as normal.

The hacking of Binance was inevitable. Binance has to be lucky on 100% of the time. Hackers on the other hand only have to be successful once. Just once. Think about the odds there.

They ensure the funds are safe even with the hacking incident so I doubt that "Trust" is affected here. It just proves that binance is responsible enough to ensure users funds whatever incident like this could happen in the future. SAFU
If this kind of incident will happen again, I don't think their SAFU funds could still over it.
For now, I believe it has somehow affected their reputation because their site security is not strong enough to prevent this.

I heard that Binance wanted to pursue a blockchain reorg to recover the stolen coins, I assume campaigning for the big miners to help him. Haha.

The miners are not stupid. They experienced the UASF, they know the community are not to be pushed around.

They decided against it in the last minute,

https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1125996194734399488

It is very sad that even such a stock exchange as Binance was still vulnerable. But I believe that this would still not affect its authority. Good thing she took care of that loss.

Everyone is vulnerable here and as much as they really tighten their security hackers will always find a loophole and exploit it.

7000 btc is nothing compared to binance annual profit. They have burned $30 MM worth BNB this quarter (which is only part of their profit). We could say that its a blessing in disguise that binance lost only 40 mil since now they will fix this security issue and become even safer exchange.

Yes, they said its 2% of their Bitcoin hot wallet only, but still this is a big and expensive lessons even for them. I'm sure CZ will get the best person to take a look at their security and implement measures to prevent this from happening again.

Its down a little now but yes, BNB funds are safe on SAFU and I think they will use the funds on SAFU to pay for this incidents. Binance is still a good one, they can’t bring this one down easily and for sure binance will become more strict, maybe KYC will become their way of securing the exchange so be ready for the possible changes soon.

as a famous and trusted platform, Binance should have done that which would protect customers because of the hacking incident. by having good actions and responsibilities of course this incident will not make the customer go away and in fact more people will come to support their project. maybe that's why this incident did not really affect the crypto market, because Binance was able to maintain the funds of each customer well
Well hopefully, that bitcoin lost from Binance does not have an effect on the market especially when hackers will covert the bitcoin into fiat maybe it will contribute a massive drop in the price movement. I think Binance will recover on their huge loss but I guess their costumer now have doubt on their security because of hacking incident maybe people are afraid to put huge amount fund on that exchange.

Very sad news for cryptocurrency holders on Binance. I used to read of this exchange that, it is the best exchange in the world of cryptocurrency but what happen? does that means they aren't doing well in term of security?. The good news is that; they will pay back to these victims of the attack, kudos for such. Never keep your coins or tokens in an exchange.

This event will significantly take a toll on the user base of binance towards its security and trust. Although the company will have the shoulder the losses, the damage is more than just the compensation, as they will be losing potential users and old ones.
Once again, despite one of the most famous exchanges in the internet, everything can still be accessible and hacked. This problem should be addressed in the cryptocurrency world and maybe a shift in a form of security must be introduced.

The security system should be more looked into. But i remember an incident where Binance caught a hack act before the assets were stolen out. I am sure its standard would remain still when the loses are compensated.

I do not think so. They'll definitely fix the system - whatever caused this in the first place. However, I wonder if they'd make the technical details of the hack public once the systems are patched up or updated.

We definitely need a third party audit of the hack, proving that it did happen and wasn't an inside job - which is what it mostly turns out to be. Think Coinsecure for example.

So sad to hear it. Binance is a well-known exchange and have to suffer from bad cases that could reduce the trust of its customers. Btw, this is a warning to all of us to always withdraw our money after we are done with our business in an exchange site.

Very sad. I am afraid that this will greatly affect the exchange rate of the BNB token

Can't see it from that perspective because Binance still remain the best exchange due to their announcement of refunding the victims funds back to them. No one is above such incident and i believe that Binance has learn their lessons and will reinforce in terms of security. Buddy, don't be afraid while dealing with big exchange like Binance but don't store huge amount of funds on an exchange.

Security all over the place, hackers will penetrate whoever it is as long as they will get something good in returned, we do see this headlines all over the forum and shared our opinions about our securities inside the exchange that we are using, it's good for binance not to try covering this out but to give some updates so investors and traders who \are using the platform will not panic and cash everything out from the site.

Very sad. I am afraid that this will greatly affect the exchange rate of the BNB token
it doesn't even give a lot of impact to the price of BNB tokens caused by the binance exchange site has announced if all of the funds are safe. you can check your balance when you have some on the binance exchange site.
You should not feel worry and then try to take a look at the binance token market and you will see there was no panic sells from the holders to create a dump. It's only getting a little dump after a big pump and that means a correction.
As long as binance team still cooperative and anything will be fine.
Yes, all funds are safu. Binance is very well prepared against hacks and I think that shows how professional they are managing the platform. They care about security and that's the most important aspect in crypto to be exchange number one.
I'm sad that I didn't purchase Binance Coin BNB when it was low last year...

If Binance which is a top exchange could get hacked, what more with smaller exchanges?
That's the reason why I'm not storing my holdings and funds in exchange. It should be a lesson learned for us not to hold our funds in exchanges for the long term. I still find hard wallet safer to use.

Speak for yourself.

Millions of users will continue to store their funds on exchanges, it's a habit that has formed since the advent of internet business. Thank Paypal if you have to, they're the ones who have popularized this notion of leaving your balance in your online wallet without regard to what may happen if you are locked out of it.

This is what bothers me when I'm being told that cryptocurrency is safe within the wallet of the exchange. Well technically with the news that creeps out, it is not. This is the first time I heard binance was hacked and 7000 BTC is pretty much nothing compare on their income. I think it's just 2% of their BTCs. But, if a big exchange was hacked, how come btcs price did not go down?

Finally binance also hacked?? Roll Eyes Really the news make trader very sad at this moment and the price of BNB coin can be affected, may be already started to affect. Hope Binance will Strong their security and recover the losses. Thanks
Finally, it was hacked too after the latest delist news Wink
Price of BNB is not affected too much, just a small dump between 20.78- 19.42. Binance should accelerate the whole process about their new DEX.
They are supposed to fulfill several requirements to go legal with the Binance DEX. Hacks are common and now the focus has turned over the leading exchanges. I checked with my funds on Binance and found it secure. If BNB is taken away there will be some crash and I too have a doubt that it can be a way to manipulate as there is continued progress in the market getting close to $6000.

Have read several threads about this. Well, honestly what happened to Binance stopped bitcoin price momentum. It could  be another move to spread FUD and to manipulate the market. Binance is one of the most trusted platform in cryptoand this might cause people's diatrust in platform's security.

Just keep in mind it is never safe to leave huge funds in any exchange, so secure your money and stay safe.
Only keep your assets when you need short-term investments because recently many exchanges are under attack and Binance is the victim of those attacks. I think the market is really dangerous now and we cannot be sure what will happen next. Today is a very bad day of Binance exchange and my withdrawal today has been delayed for a long time. Hopefully CZ and the development team will have the necessary policies to change the current situation

I heard that Binance wanted to pursue a blockchain reorg to recover the stolen coins, I assume campaigning for the big miners to help him. Haha.

The miners are not stupid. They experienced the UASF, they know the community are not to be pushed around.

Yes, you can see it clear, it's the trending news today.

The amount hack is big but it seems it doesn't affect them a lot since they are very profitable, and they have SAFU funds for the stolen BTC.
BNB was down 7% today but price stayed at $20 which is a good price, don't worry, we will let this pass and bitcoin starts to rally again.

check out the price here - https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/binance-coin/

This might be the headline for today, I have seen this news all over this forum, in different boards.

Seems like the effect of this is not felt yet,  or if we felt it, it's not as big as expected.
Hacking incident that only loss the money of Binance don't create a buzz in the space, our funds are safe, that's more important.

Binance can easily earn the amount that has stolen with their huge trading volume.

7000 btc is nothing compared to binance annual profit. They have burned $30 MM worth BNB this quarter (which is only part of their profit). We could say that its a blessing in disguise that binance lost only 40 mil since now they will fix this security issue and become even safer exchange.

Yeah, it's all over the forum now. It did significantly affect BNB though, but it seems it had recovered. Just sad to hear another exchange getting hack again.

Those hackers are really one step of the game, remember has lots of security measures in place but still the hackers was able to drain before Binance push the red button.

Good thing is that the customers will be covered by their SAFU so for now everything looks good. That's why the price of bitcoin seems not affected by this negative news.

Huge haul by hackers and this once again highlights the wisdom of the "not your keys not your crypto" saying.

Thankfully in this incident, Binance has stated they will cover all losses.

Quote
Binance will use the #SAFU fund to cover this incident in full. No user funds will be affected.

Exchanges are vast stores of crypto so are natural targets by hackers. Don't ever leave your funds on there. If an exchange like Binance can be hacked, it speaks volumes about the ability of hackers to penetrate other exchanges.

Stay safe.
