I thought New York would be the only state where Binance's service would be unavailable, and I was surprised to see all the states where they can't operate.  I'm not sure what that's all about, nor am I sure how to check if my state (or any state) has laws regarding cryptocurrency.  There has to be a reason for Binance not to be able to operate in certain states.  Anybody know anything about that?

with new york, it's obvious---bitlicense. coinbase banned hawaii too because of over burdensome regulation so that one's not a surprise. with some of the others, it could be a matter of red tape re money transmitter or virtual currency biz licensing. washington state licenses virtual currency businesses now, for one.

this whole binance.us thing was thrown together on 3 months notice so it's no surprise they don't have their ducks in a row.

Well, the site isn't available in all states so I'm unable to use it.  I'm a little annoyed at this, since I had a Binance account before but I'm far from heartbroken.  I don't do a lot of trading, but sometimes it'd be nice to trade bitcoin for some altcoins that I like.

Is it going to be like a feeding frenzie when this thing goes live?

probably not. the launch of binance.je and re-branding of jex were both anti-climactic. i expect nothing less this time. nobody has been able to make a dent in coinbase's share of the USA market in a long time.

on the other hand, if binance extends their 0.1% fees to USD pairs, they'll become the cheapest on the USA market by a decent margin. so there's that.

I'm not a US citizen, but I was very curious and so I decided to see the site, here:

https://www.binance.us/en/trade/BTC_USDT

It doesn't work at all, maybe it only works for people who are in the US or is it site issues?

there are few pairs, so it's all bad

trading is not live yet. right now, people can only register/verify accounts and deposit cryptocurrencies. https://medium.com/binance-us/prepare-for-launch-binance-us-user-registration-opens-next-wednesday-a16e9cd5a103

During this initial registration phase, you will be able to sign up for a Binance.US account and select the tier of verification required to achieve your desired withdrawal limits. Once verified, you will be able to make deposits across the initial selection of digital assets. Shortly after registration opens, we will provide an update detailing when trading will go live for specific pairs.

no update yet re when trading will launch. probably by next week is my guess.
