If you have original bios dump its safe, you can allways flash original rom.
In other way if you set very high clock speed, you can destroy your card

If you have display input on mobo or another card you can easily reflash a bad bios as you don't need its display

its nearly impossible to brick a card, even if you flash a bad bios, you can always reflash a working one.
some cards have bios switches, so you boot up with good bios..use the switch and flash bios over bad one.
other way is using usb bootdrive and flash the faulty card from there.
most time even windows boots up with the faulty card, it just dont get recognized. you can flash it anyway
if you want good speed do your straps yourself or find/buy good ones. the straps in pbe 1.6.2 sucks

Most of those stories also involve downloading some random ROM off the internet and hoping it works for their card. As long as you mod your own Bios and do it correctly, the chance of bricking your card is very low, IMO. I've had very good results using the Polaris Bios Editor v1.62 'one click timing patch' on the original Bios. PBE automatically detects the memory type and v1.6.2 applies the bundled performance straps to the 1750 MHz and up timings. The current v1.6.6 adjusts the 1500 MHz and up timings, but the 1750 MHz straps are more stable for most cards.

Everyone warns that you can brick your card but it seems like everyone does it and I don't read that many horror stories. Is it really that easy to brick?

imo, no.   if you make CUSTOM timings, then yes you can easily brick it, but normal everyday miners use premade professional BIOS's, and simple strap copying
those pose VERY little risk of bricking your card.
if you use a premade bios tho, know where it came from!
my suggest is just get "polaris bios editor" and google fu how to do it yourself Smiley   just as a noob, ONLY copy straps haha
again, custom timings are for advanced users, and MAY brick your card ;p

keep in mind bios edits void warranty when done in any way.       (people have told me they just flash back stock BIOS b4 RMA and it works tho Cheesy )
