Okay, I ran the Polaris Bios Editor v1.6.2 'one click timing patch' on my Samsung cards and after flashing them they're now mining at 31 Mh/s!

Thanks guys!!

The micron is very close to max and prolly not worth it.  Now the Samsung on the other hand can get about 3-4 mhs improvement.  Check out this guide.  If you run Linux you won’t need to patch the bios.  Windows will need the patch.

Thx Doug! Will have a look. And you're right. The micron looks quite good as it is.

Try increasing the memory on the Micron card to 2200-2250 MHz. Also use HwInfo to check for memory errors and reduce the memory clock by 50 MHz until there are no more errors. For a Bios mod I use the Polaris Bios Editor v1.6.2 'one click timing patch' on the original Bios. PBE automatically detects the memory type and v1.6.2 applies the bundled performance straps to the 1750 MHz and up timings. The current v1.6.6 adjusts the 1500 MHz and up timings, but the 1750 MHz straps are more stable for most cards.

With most RX 580 cards you don't need to use the AMD pixel patcher to bypass the driver signature check with a modded Bios. With RX 470/480 and 570 cards, you need to use the patcher.

Lots of good info on optimizing your cards is on www.mining.help and BBT has a good video on how to flash up to 10 cards at the same time in Windows.

Great info. I am going to give it a shot later today. Will update the thread when I have results.

Hi all,

I have a rig with 5 Sapphire RX580 Pulse 8GB cards running. 2 have Samsung memory, 3 have Micron memory.

Without BIOS mod, but memory clock 2100 and core clock 1150 and undervolting (via Claymore), I get the following hash rates:

Samsung: 25-26 Mh/s
Micron: 28-29 Mh/s

Total hash rate around 138 Mh/s. Not too bad I guess, considering the fact I didn't mod the BIOS yet.

The cards draw 115 watt each.

How much would I be able to improve the above by modding the memory timings?

Can I just edit straps and flash and expect it to work? Any risk that I run into the 'BIOS signature check' issue (in other words, given my cards and drivers, should I run the pixel clock patcher)? Note: I use Crimson 17.11.1 drivers.

Thx!
