OMG what a night, I was trying a different BIOS revision and when I inserted the USB stick there was quite a big spark and the system shutdown

Now the mobo is not responding to the power on switch ...

Can a static discharge damage the mobo ?

Make sure the board is always on a static plastic underneath it.

There are too many complaints about the biostar tb250 and i thought it was better than the asrock 13 slot.

I also killed my BIOSTAR TB250 recently.

I was trying to do a BIOS upgrade using their "BIOS flasher" utility and a USB with the updated BIOS. The damn thing hanged during the BIOS update and after 1 hour of waiting i decided to just try and reboot it hoping the update proceeded successfully. Unfortunately it didn't because when I turned it on again there was nothing. No post, just black screen.

The board's chip is dead right? Or can i still warranty/RMA it? I have another TB250 board but im not interested in trying to "hot flash" it.

You bet! It doesn't take much to kill a Biostar board.. They are very low quality.

I had a brand new board die during setup and kill several cards with it.  Cry

Hearing yours sparked doesn't surprise me.. I see someone even had theirs catch on fire.

Fortunately I had all my GPU's diconnected from the mobo

Do you think more components can be damaged along with the mobo ? I'm thinking about the CPU and memory, I also hope the PSU's are ok

Anything attached to the motherboard could be damaged. Did you buy it from Newegg? They have a GREAT return policy. Unplug it. Remove the bios battery for 30 seconds. And then try to start it. Any lights?

Make sure your motherboard isn't touching any metal. If your motherboard isn't in a case keep wood or cardboard under it to prevent it from coming in with contact anything.

Also make sure the motherboard is completely off before adding/removing anything from it. Risers, etc. Never add/remove anything with it on.

Yep bough it from Newegg, I'm thinking of getting everything tested at a computer repair shop tomorrow to find out the extent of the damage and then requesting the RMA accordingly

I just tried removing the CMOS battery but it didn't do anything, no lights and no activity at all

Try booting from another boot device, such as a flash drive with a Linux distro, or another drive. If that works, then it may be a problem with the current drive.

I had the same  issue once, the mobo just wouldn't boot from the ssd anymore, I think its due to incorrect flashing method. In the end, I had to send the mobo back for warranty

Your first booting devise is HDD with OS? Verify that.

Yes it is, I can see my SSD HDD being detected and properly showing up as the default boot device on the boot menu in the BIOS

So I just flashed my TB250 flash to the latest version and now it is booting automatically to the BIOS menu
I can't see any error on the POST screen but not sure what's making it going to BIOS menu and not booting properly
I tried to downgrade to an older BIOS version using the flash update utilty from the BIOS itself, I'm able to select the older version BIOS file, the system shows says the installation was completed but when it reboots it goes again to the BIOS and I can see that it is still on the latest version

Any idea guys ? At this stage I disconnected all my PCI-E risers and I'm using the integrated graphic controller
