now I had an idea for a great bet, wanted to go there and it's gone.
Are there any good alternatives? Trusted ones?

Augur just launched, maybe give that a try.

In theory, the first time the "trusted third-party" scam risk can be eliminated.

Yes, at the same time giving birth to the "creating a deliberately incorrectly defined market" scam.

So... does anyone know what actually happened to the site?

When it was still owned by MP, I used it a few times… now I had an idea for a great bet, wanted to go there and it's gone.
Are there any good alternatives? Trusted ones? The recent operators don't seem like they did a great job running the site, so anything with a little less sloppy management would be great. Smiley

The domain name got renewed, although BitBet hasn't paid any bets in weeks. Actually, since right when Irma made landfall in Florida. Sad

Approaching its expiry on 24-october but i am still able to place bets on it. It has also sufficient gap till renewal due.
Also looks bitbet has 5 moderators. according to whois reports, it is ususlly interacted from different 5 ip addresses. It is a strange activity

Well there is proof, that if the site is very close to domain expiry what does it tell you about its reliability. Most people renew their domain well advance of 6-12+ months and they renew it for maybe a decade so they won't forget.

Also domain renewals are very cheap, if they can't afford it or they are cheap, then imagine what kind of solvency problems they might be having if they can't afford to even pay their domain renewals.

I thought this site was very interesting and have hired a developer to create a similar one hosted by Bitcoin.com
I would love some feedback from the community on what features you would like it to have.
The developer has started a thread about it here: https://forum.bitcoin.com/topic32927.html
Please post your feature requests there, and we will build it.

Wow, didn't think the big Roger Ver "Bitcoin Jesus" would actually be active in the gambling topics.

I've used your forum before, however why is it whenever I make a post, I have to go thru CAPTCHA twice. The first time doesn't work and then I have to do another CAPTCHA again before my post is registered.

I have used Bitbet.us occasionally for years and had 1.5 BTC in open bets on the site. Considering that the site has been down for days without any announcement, I am concerned that the owner chose to take the money and run.

However, I can confirm that none of my deposit transactions have yet been moved.

Oh, that's sad, never leave such amount into a site wallet, the probability of you be scammed is enormous, always transfer ASAP your Bitcoins to a desktop / hot wallet.

BTW, what's going on here? I see the site is down, is there another thread about bitbet.us? Also there is a new member account here, so everything is OK now?! Did you get your btc back?

this is a fake site,A governmental body in any jurisdiction would be fairly limited in their options to eliminate bitcoin. They may be able to regulate and hinder the two-way convertibility with political currencies but that is more of a conversion issue rather than an attack against bitcoin transactions directly. Practical elimination of bitcoin would therefore require shutting down the telecommunications infrastructure that facilitates the peer-to-peer technology of the distributed block chain. Perversely, this action would hinder the rest of the e-commerce activity that occurs online.

Hopefully they will return again... but still disappointing to see a second extended downtime. Sad
Looks like they are gone, their support profile https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/bitbet-info-833154
is inactive since may 25 and there is no any official announcement regarding this downtime.

Last time the site was down for more than 2 weeks without word or notice. They returned then and paid out all due bets and continued to operate paying out some big bets, like the French election, in the mean time.

This time it's only been 1 week. It's possible the owner hasn't even noticed yet, he seemed an honest guy but wasn't the most active at maintaining the site.

Do you think we can sue them and get the money back?

Since the US considers BTC as real money, they should prosecute BTC thieves as well, like they do for real money.

It's gone? I haven't even heard of the name and it's gone already?

That's pretty bad news for any gambling site. People should really avoid these kind of gambling sites and just freaking play at the famous ones. I don't see any advantage of playing on those new sites and possible scam ones. What's the difference of those casinos to those that are well played at and reviewed vs. those that are a nut's hair away from the brink of destruction? Your pick.

The thing is people dont even believe a scam accusation these days even after showing a lot of proof. Why people still invest into these scam sites. When they cant hold on to their own domain, why will they even reply in the support system. It shows that they are not serious about their users. The best thing is to stay away from these sites and gamble only in top sites.

Seems that new bets take too long to get accepted.

There are pending bets that date back to June 16 ... and the first punters already put the money of course...

Please review the pending bets

Be smart and don't put your money in this 99% scam. You could just browse Scam Accusation section or read the whole topic.
They came, set a bookie, gained some trust and then disappeared with all the clients money.

Scam accusations looked like false alarms, and the issue described here apparently was solved, the site went back online...
so i was confident and i have created a few bets and  put 0.12 BTC total.

But now i see that the site has issues again ( 404 Not Found ) and the support does not reply to private messages neither...
very fishy.
Luckily i have not lost that much Sad

Its hard to tell what is going on with this website. It can either be abandoned, a scam, or just a lazy dev (busy with other projects).

But at the moment with the way this site is being handled I think its best to just be cautious with your BTC and play somewhere else.

If the dev doesn't have time to fix these issues then its probably not a good idea to do business with them.

They let the domain name expire?

http://whois.domaintools.com/bitbet.us
Bitbet.us is not shutdown by the government or any serious thing that may stop bitbet.us.It is just the domain name expired and the site owner or developer didnt renew or pay for it again because maybe site is not earning a good amount to pay with the domain expenses
I think the owner already posted here above check his post he said their site is under ddos attack that is why the site was down few days ago.. and i think they already fix the issue. the site is now active and i think you can now contact the support which is already posted here check the post above..

MP is teaching you a lesson. Learn it and move on.
So from now on, online shopping is history. You can not trust anyone.
In fact you can do nothing anymore in this world. Who can you trust? No one. Even judges, governments. Especially not the latter.

No. The site, if gone for good, committed a crime.
If more people join maybe a class action suite is possible. Especially in this case where the site existed for nearly 10 years.

We are not gone for good, nor did we commit a crime.
We were down for too long indeed, but we believe you are jumping to conclusions too fast.

You're confused about what the lesson here is.  The lesson is to do your due diligence before sending BTC not after.  Then as long as bitcoin network still works you can continue to transact without anyone giving you permission.

Unless being under a ddos attack counts as "bad management" in your book, that is not what happened here. BitBet is and has been profitable, and not a satoshi of our user's funds has been lost.

Hello,

https://bitbet.us is back online.

We experienced yet another DDos and request for ransom (which we - as usual - refused to pay).

It took us way too long to get back online, our apologies for that, but we're now fully back up and running.

As usual, all customer funds are safe and sound as these are kept in cold storage.

Bitbet.us is back online atm?!

Yep!  Smiley Certainly surprised me. Hope it's back for good.
I used to play in bitbet.us for a year or more, I had some money their when it got closed or you may say domain expired. But it was down for some months now and up again, may be someone bought it again and started. I feel the owner has been changed because they had a stable site for 4 years. They would not let the domain get excited with the trust they were holding for 4 years.

I have used Bitbet.us occasionally for years and had 1.5 BTC in open bets on the site. Considering that the site has been down for days without any announcement, I am concerned that the owner chose to take the money and run.

However, I can confirm that none of my deposit transactions have yet been moved.
Thanks for sharing.
I can also confirm, that none of my deposit transactions have been moved (1 BTC), yet.
Is there any list of the running bets with their resolve dates (my bet ends this year)?
If payouts occur then it's only a frontend problem.

Keep us updated

There is a bet that is due to resolve on April 25th. I have taken outgoing addresses for those bets and I will be able to see if any funds will be sent to them after the resolution time has passed. However, I believe that the owner has to resolve bets manually. If he isn't online to answer any emails or update social media, it isn't very likely that these bets will be resolved.

Since the domain expired and later on went online how do we know that its the same owner? Sometimes people wait until a domain gets past its expiry renewal period and they copy the entire website and then launch it themselves.

Either way, the thread should be locked to prevent more people from losing their BTC.
Thread should be kept open if people take juridical actions which can help other victims

maybe the owner wants to stop the site and want to create another site because if the site is not yet in expiry, then its strange for us to see the site is down unless the owner send the email for the members and telling them that the site needs to be maintain. but still its to suspicious for us to see the site is down without any info or any announcement from the owner. but if the owner wants to scam the members, then i think we need to push them to clarify this thing so this problem can clear and there are no misunderstanding from the people. i think lets we wait for a while until there are any information from the site or the owner.

The registry says the domain expired yesterday.

So for me it's a TLD problem. Domain was brutally closed. Those Americans are very annoying, aren't they ? They should let us do what we want Angry !
What do you want from them? They have their rules in such things and if you don't like, you can simply don't use it. Owner of domain had to realized any following issue already. He could use .com .net which are good and safer (depends on domain register company) or in worst situation, he couls to use .ws .me and etc

The site is totally gone, admit it. It says bad gateway when i try to open the site. We all know that when btc  price goes up a lot of gambling ,investing sites are closing.

Seriously you still quoted those reply from that user, that's many months past already? That was on october last year and still comparing until this days.

And I'm really laughing why its still be quoted since its already a thread from several months ago. This should should be considered as dead or maybe this should be locked so it won't popped out in active threads.

I thought this site just started recently.
So how can their domain become expired unless they registered four years ago and planned this out from the very start to let it run for a month or two then just let it die.
Sounds sort of familiar what is going on with other site I have heard of recently that's been around for years.

In the past several such incidents have taken place. As one of the user quoted it's all because of bad management who are all not effective in making successful house edges. Some gambling website go vanished because lacking in popularity mainly because they provide low winning possibilities.

its really sad to see a decent site go down for what i consider a very simple case a bad management.. but as we all know there are 10 new sites for every old one that dies!

Wow. Looks like they really did let it expire. The domain has run for exactly 4 years.
So seems to me it's unlikely that it's been forcefully shut down, quite a coincidence if it fell exactly
on the 4th year. Also very doubtful they missed that.
Or maybe they weren't allowed to renew, for some reason or other.

The domain wasn't shutdown by government.  The domain registration simply expired.

The registry says the domain expired yesterday.

So for me it's a TLD problem. Domain was brutally closed. Those Americans are very annoying, aren't they ? They should let us do what we want Angry !

That seems strange. Bitbet has changed ownership not long ago and the new owner seemed to be trying to revitalize the site. Maybe the site was taken down by the registration authority? The TLD is at least not the best to choose for this kind of business, as the U.S. are highly prone to intervene worldwide against services they don't approve.

It could also have something to do with the recent DNS attacks. I guess we have to wait and see what happens. It would be quite an annoyance if they departed with the funds...
