I found this article which also compares the two, along with a few other Canadian exchanges: https://coincompanion.io/canada/best-exchanges/

It looks like if you're just looking for BTC and ETH, Shakepay might be a good choice as they have no fees. On the other hand Bitbuy has a larger range of cryptocurrencies you can buy.

I agree with the other comment, be sure to store your crypto in a hardware wallet which you have full ownership of. Smiley

Any thoughts on which to use in Canada for Btc and Eth?
I am not familiar with both platforms but I found an article comparing the two https://nowfuture.co/bitbuy-vs-shakepay-2021/
It would be better if you have friends who are already into cryptocurrencies that you can ask personally.

I'm just new and I suspect I will be buying and holding, as I am not sufficiently financial savvy to time the market
You must be familiar with the "buy low, sell high" trading rule but that's not really applicable to BTC on a bull run which we are in right now. You can just buy what you can afford to lose, store them in a safe wallet that you really own, and relax.
