The amount of statistic is crazy.
1. While it's not surprising, it's a shame 3 stated Bitcoin layer (LN, Liquid network and Rootstock) have relative small or no growth.
2. It's good to see amount of WBTC fell by 16%, although it's probably partially due to existence of other pegged Bitcoin.

Although after looking at all charts, i believe he should use log scaling for few charts.

What do you think Jameson means by this?
In general, forums are usually more specialized and thus attract less attention compared to social media such as Facebook and X while discussions are less spammy and be helpful rather than propaganda. The only difference is that the forum is one of the few forums on the Internet that pays for posts, which means an increase in spam, and thus these developers moved to more specialized technical forums.

Let's focus on this quote:

I myself abandoned BitcoinTalk many years ago because I felt it was hard to find signal through the noise. It looks like user growth on that site decelerated even more in 2024.

What do you think Jameson means by this?
Did you know that Jameson Lopp is like Andreas Antonopoulos used to be members of this forum. Through his blog article, you knew of Jameson Lopp's reasons, let me share reasons of Andreas Antonopoulos. He found this forum structure is too cumbersome and left it years ago.
Yes, I have an account here, though I find the forum structure cumbersome and have not written here in a long time. Thank you for the support and kind words!

Reason why Lopp mentioned it in his blog article?
It's because months ago, he was called to fix his tool.
After he fixed the bug, he posted in this forum.
The rounding error was an unintentional result of me taking the form input and running it through parseInt, which truncates all decimal precision. I've changed that to parseFloat - the discrepancy is now resolved.

Interesting indeed, never would of thought of that.
After all, people come and go, either that way or another.
But there are still many reasons to stay and keep learning.

It's giving a 2024 wrapped <3  Where it gives everything that happened in 2024. I'm just glad seeing the achievements of Bitcoin and where it is right now.

I love these predictions, highlighting the Lightning Network where this is the main solution of the common problems that we are experiencing in Bitcoin networks especially those retails.

Plus fiat currencies vs Bitcoin - well, this is aged already but I am always expecting this to happen.

I think he meant that due to the abundance of low quality post, it was hard to navigate and locate the gems.
While on user growth, I think he's pointing out the fact that the growth on Bitcointalk is diminishing by the year
And despite the popularity of Bitcoin last year
The percent of registered members was lackluster.

Thanks @Cygan for sharing. Gained alot. It was fun seeing Bitcoin growth through statistical comparison.

. What an amazing 16th year of Bitcoin existence. In first quarter of the year price was still dangling. In the second quarter there was a massive push in price no one expected the sudden spike where it retested the previous ATH and surpassed it, moving the price above $70k and in the third quarter it was looking like the market was becoming indecisive and boom the last quarter gave good bread to the patient holders. Indeed a massive breakpoint. The best price for 2024 was 108,319.87

today, the well-known cypherpunk Jameson Lopp published a very detailed annual review of our digital gold Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is now in its 16th year and the year 2024 was one where further milestones were reached, the network was further stabilized, etc. also (as all of us have noticed) it passed the 100k milestone for the first time

Last year was a blast for the bitcoin market in general and this has helped in many ways towards having increasing in adoption as well as having consideration on bitcoin by some people who have once go against it, not that alone, we make it o all time high of $108,000 and this was another icebreaker achievement whereby people couldn't withstand staying without considering bitcoin adoption and investment, there is much to talk about this just concluded year 2024 regarding bitcoin achievements, that also help in the US election, spot bitcoin ETF and many others, when some thoughts that it previous dip will be the last high it could ever attained, but here we are together in it, increasing altogether.

at the following link you will find a variety of statistics that JL has created through meticulous work for anyone interested in Bitcoin and wanting to understand the technology behind it
it's amazing what has happened with Bitcoin in the last year and how it compares to previous years in various categories.
i would like to take this opportunity to thank JL for the very comprehensive review. it must have taken you a lot of days/weeks of free time to compile all the statistics for us! kudos!
i now wish all those interested a lot of fun reading:
