Bitcoin users should be secured and maintain anonymity. This is to ensure that everyone can do anything in order and less worries.

You are absolutely right, and that's why people that actually value anonymity over everything else are using monero. That is also the reason why those saying that bitcoin is used for illegal activities are just wrong, because privacy is very important for those cases, and once again, people prefer to use monero if they want to stay hidden.

I have no problem with bitcoin they way it is now. You can always use a lot of addresses, in order to increase the level of anonymity. That will also keep fees lower, so you have all the incentives in using several addresses for different transactions. Everything is still tracked, but it's harder.

Finally, bitcoin anonymity will improve a lot with the lightning network, because you can make several transactions inside a channel, and only the "final" transaction will be recorded in the blockchain (once the channel is closed), so people wont be able to trace your activity, and that is good.

Anonymity is one of the features that gives bitcoin adn edge over the other payment options like credit cards and PayPal. Companies like PayPal require you to submit all identity documents , contact information and bank credit card details. They can easily track you and give this information to government agencies. Bitcoin is way better in this aspect.

Most probably most of us knows Bitcoin as anonymous or Bitcoin is one of the anonymous way in order to do transactions online because you don't know who's behind of that address and they don't also know you. I've read in differents thread here in the forum saying that the "good thing about Bitcoin is because you can do transaction without knowing your identity."

But to tell you what, Bitcoin uses blockchain to record the transaction chronologically and publicly. So in other words you can be tracked using your transaction history in the blockchain. Maybe we don't the person behind the address but if they insist to track you down until you withdraw it to fiat there's a chance that they can track you. The list below are the advantages and disadvantages of writing down transaction in blockchain.

Advantages:

  • You can check the transactions confirmation and other information such as the quantity of bitcoin you've send or received.
  • You can use it as evidence that you already paid or received.
  • It can never be deleted.
  • Incase you've been scammed you can track him. (But you it needs a lot of work)

Disadvantages:

  • They can track you using your transactions via Blockchain
  • The transaction is not that much anonymous

What i'm pointing out is that most of the users of bitcoin thought that bitcoin is so anonymous and I want to clarify that for me it's not. So i post it here to know what's your opinion and perspective in regards with with bitcoins anonymity.

PS. All of the stated above are just according to my own perspective.
I just want to share my opinion as well as my perspective in regards with this topic.

maybe , as you said it's your own opinion but let me tell you that even our government  having a  hard time in tracing virtual accounts in order to collect taxes, and that's why they create regulators to make policies regarding this matters.

In a modern day where every exchange has KYC process and your address has an identity . so bitcoin was used for anonymous transaction previously now you can use other cryptos like monero , zcash etc

Now all the transaction has been go with the better streamline. I see from the past few months most of the popular wallet shows the dynamic wallet address so always using the new address better to being anonymous.
There is nothing you need to do for being anonymous. wallet and blocks will do that. There is no KYC information to transact the funds buddy.
Blockexplorers will help to taken out learn the details of the concern address. If you use the dynamic address nothing will affect you.

I just want to point out how poorly the privacy is considered on the top line for average Joe who don't know anything and might think that there is no link between him and exchanges. Although making lightweight HD wallets and dynamic address generation is at the most cases the best practice it all go nice until you reach the point where you will want to spend your coins as most of the people are using some software for this, well you will join inputs from different addresses to create an desirable output and we can say that there is a high chance that those addresses are owned by one person (because of joined inputs for transaction). I do not believe that somebody will think that you have used coinJoin or some other method as of today.

While it is true that you can track the address of the one who scammed you but the question is how far would you be able to do so? Scammers would still be able to utilize mixers and similar service/ways to get rid of the taint on their coins. After that's done, it would be quite improbable for someone to know where the coins will land.

Disadvantages:

  • They can track you using your transactions via Blockchain

Hence the word pseudo-anonymous. By using bitcoins, you are only anonymous to a certain extent. And once you have registered to an exchange for your trading schemes and have withdrawn, you already have left a taint on your coins if you weren't smart enough to block off your path.

  • The transaction is not that much anonymous

It's completely anonymous. No third party will know sender and receiver.

This totally depends how well are you "hiding" any link between you as a person and your address. Even if they don't know who you are link can be establish link with what services particular person uses with his address as you can mostly tag which service owns which address and there are tools being developed where you can see via graphs, so in graph representation, how and where are coins moving.

One of the characteristics of bitcoin (electronic currency) is different from the traditional currency that is anonymity. Bitcoins also have a lot of advantages, because they are very secure and secure in transactions through blockchain technology. So today many people use bitcoin.

You must decide what you want from bitcoin. It was not created for anonymity. As you know that there are such coins, transactions of which are anonymous, you can use them.

what? this just base on your perspective? are'nt you have the source to say it like that. but its okay if just your opinion,  as long as i know the problem why many countries ban bitcoin is because they cant tracked the transaction history with their current technology.

I agree, for example if you use that address to send BTC to an exchange where you've been verified there is a connection between that address and your name. Of course none of the common people would ever know that, but someone can have access to those kind of info. Being 100% anonymous it's not so easy.

Last time I checked, there's an huge amount of coins from Mt Gox that the police was never able to find, and im sure even the NSA looked into that and they were never able to track them down. And this was in 2013... now with modern mixers like helix which have many options including getting freshly minted coins, getting the transactions at random times etc, and this done throught a Tor onion site... I think it's pretty impossible to track the coins down.

I would rather have it optional, since if you mix your coins you may have problems down the line if you want to sell them to buy some real estate for instance.

Look at this guy fighting his own battles.  Grin

  • You can use it as evidence that you already paid or received.

This only works in the forum if the person signed his BTC address. What if it is a transaction outside the forum? Can you still use it as an evidence? I can create a lot of address and you wont know it is me.

Disadvantages:

    • They can track you using your transactions via Blockchain
Oh hey! Now, he uses it as a disadvantage.

Look, not everyone says it is that high anonymous. Of course you can track it, but there are some ways to make it hard for people to do that. If you are a new one then I can give you a hard time to trace me and that is all that matters.
If there is one disadvantage, then that is you cannot retrieve the transaction. That is why it always needs to be perfect and do triple checks. Scammers love this feature of bitcoin that is why they are lurking around.[/list]

There are many big scammers that are completely impossible to find them. For example if you get hacked, you can do nothing.

    • They can track you using your transactions via Blockchain

You can use different addresses. It's easy deposit your coins to an exchange. Then withdraw it to a new address.
