I think is good that more companies accept bitcoin and yes Microsoft accept it as currency and i wish on future to have more companies who will accept bitcoin.
It surely is good.Once a big company already treated bitcoin as a real currency just like what microsoft did we can surely see more bigger and small company accepting bitcoin as currency and payment method in their  future updates on the company. This is a very good news for us

Didn't Microsoft accept bitcoin as payment at one point? Doesn't that already show they consider it a currency?

it is not a direct payment and it is still ongoing (making it more than 5 years of them accepting bitcoin). basically you have the option to add credit to your Microsoft account using bitcoin as payment there instead of being able to purchase directly with bitcoin. that is why it is usually missed by most people.

I think the bitcoin currency symbol existed in Excel for some time now and it is not new at all. one thing is for sure though, this has nothing to do with the altcoins you pushed inside your comment here.
Yeah, this is nothing new. Some more keyboard has also have added bitcoin currency if I am correct. This is a good move indeed, people with no knowledge will must be curious to know about it.

Long back itself we've got to the use of BTC through keyboards. Some stated as professional people get used to things relative to financial tools, it also will gets used. Maybe for comparative purpose BTC symbol might be used and the usage of term BTC takes time to be so common which will also help with some form of adoption as large scale firms are the key people taking forward the addition of BTC to the list of symbols used.

Bitcoin has passed all the tests of time and this adoption is just another great thing which could affect bitcoin positively.
Bigger businesses and merchants are starting to notice the advantage of accepting Bitcoin. These days, there were great news and events about cryptocurrency since there were huge adoptions.

That’s a huge company, and many professionals and students who used microsoft for their daily routine even me. Its good that they finally recognized bitcoin as a currency, and yes many companies will come too. As we waits for facebook to come, many companies already adopt cryptocurrency and I really see bitcoin to become expensive because of this.

Who cares about this? Bitcoin has been accepted as a payment for a long time now on Microsoft, many other big companies accepted or accept bitcoin, Steam for instance used to accept it but they had to drop it because it was too unreliable, at this point, bitcoin is still extremely unreliable and companies do not really benefit from accepting it. I personally do not see bitcoin as a day-to-day payment and I think we should stop pursuing that idea because it's not happening.
That's exactly my concern with all of this new companies accepting bitcoin. Everyone is so happy and excited about them accepting bitcoin but at the end of the day they would rather pay using fiat instead of spending the Bitcoin the are hodling for some months on their wallets. Everyone wants to see Bitcoin being accepted everywhere but what's with all of this hype if you are not actually using it for payments.

It's not the first time that a big company has introduced Bitcoin's symbol into one of their software. I remembered back then Google has it introduced in their Gboard for Apple and I'm still waiting for it be available in their Android phones. I cannot say that Microsoft putting BTC's symbol in Excel is not them admitting BTC is a currency its only shows that it's a must for their product since its a product for creating and organizing computations which includes transactions involving other currencies aside from USD and some of their users might be asking for it sooner rather than later that is why they have implemented it on their system.

Bigger companies are starting to accept bitcoin as payment, and it's a great exposure for bitcoin and other cryptocurrency as well. It could be a good way to advertise and spread cryptocurrency awareness to other big companies. Bitcoin adaptation by other companies increased this year as we see them integrating cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in their business.

Yeah, it's really important that more companies accept it over-time so the currency can grow and not only be for investments but also for daily use in the future.

I particularly pay zero attention to excel because i don't like using it for anything and i avoid like the plague, just like selling. But outside my personal preference any company that accepts Bitcoin i personally like.

That only should place them at a higher spot in the minds of us who enjoy being involved in this cause or movement.

The thing is Microsoft is supporting Bitcoins for like years , companies like Microsoft actually understands the thing like * new era regarding softwares * they are thinking of integrating it into their softwares is a wonderful news , though it was done prior like years before also at the same time they are being a good example for others for go forward and do the same.

We are seeing mobiles getting launched with prior integration of wallets and such.

Everyone's following their steps , they are being a good example I would say.

Bitcoin finally set foot on the mainstream, in the form of a currency option in Microsoft Excel.
There are a number of barriers one has to overcome to become a real trend. And Bitcoin has overcome this challenge during the past 10 years. Finally, Microsoft added this crypto currency to its system, in the form of a currency option in Excel office software.
Microsoft has long placed great emphasis on the pre-coding market. The world's leading software group has announced it will implement an ambitious strategy, directly cooperating with prominent Blockchain projects such as Ethereum, R3, AntShares, ...

Any size, this is a good news for bitcoin but Bitcoin has got much more popularity from every other forms that almost all of the world now knows about it. Mostly, thanks to the negative news and reviews. But now what we need is using bitcoin. And it would be faciliated if large merchants like microsoft starts accepting it as payment.

That is indeed a great News. News related to Bitcoin adoption always bring cheers to the market. I did read this article four days back. The link to the article - https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-microsoft-adds-excel-currency/

It is a new addition to the currency symbol in excel. Now the path for Bitcoin to go mainstream has opened and already started, as Excel is one of the most used Software from Microsoft's office edition. Good news for traders, it will easy to maintain records now. I wonder when will Google add Bitcoin to Google sheets?

Bitcoin symbol was actually available in Excel before because you can find some articles from 2017 showing that. I think now they've just updated it to a new symbol and its also available directly in the list of currencies without you needing to manually add it to the list. Thats probably the reason why there are so many articles promoting this now.

It could have be nice if there's a link to that information for verification. That apart, this is what we are waiting for, that big companies like Microsoft, FaceBook, Google and Amazon should embrace the reality on ground under the cover of cryptocurrency. They admitting that Bitcoin is a currency will make things work easily very soon for Bitcoin.

also the important part for bitcoin adoption is when these companies start accepting bitcoin as payment which again Microsoft has been doing that for years too although most people don't know about it yet!
