I like the idea though.
It made me think of something similar that if someone were motivated they could pull off, assuming people would go for it.
Basically what you're talking about except not so much rep as in trustworthy but just "cool points" Kind of like a thanks button some boards have.
Basically next to each persons name they have xxbitpoints. and an address that you send them to, maybe a button you click automated in the forum.
When you click this button it doesn't send the bitcoins directly to the person it sends them to an address that belongs to the forum but is unique to each member.
When this address receives bitcoins it adds that many (adjusted for real value, if a btc is worth 5x in the future you should get 5x more points than now) to that persons stat.
Here's the catch the bitcoins that get sent to that persons user name all go to charity (or support the board or whatever but I like charity)
They're real money so you know they're earned (or the person gives to charity in their name) Honestly if someone wants to toss a lot of bitcoins to charity to get cool points then that's fine with me I don't care.
Also I think the charity should be like EFF or something that goes with the feel of bitcoin.
Any thoughts on that?

It's a very different idea from bitcoin.

I'm not sure how well that would work since bitcoins can be earned by mining. Thus it wouldn't work well as a way of keeping track of reputation as a person can essentially give themselves bitcoins. It might also have proven more difficult to get vendors to accept bitcoins for goods since bitcoins would be associated with work most people do not value. I have a hard enough time getting people to take bitcoins seriously when they find out the only way to get them is by doing web work and the only places accepting them are a handful of websites. If it were a forum currency then I think we'd have an even harder time of it. Just my .02btc.

I guess you know several forums on the web, which use a "points" system to reward authors. Basically when you like a post you can give it some points, the total of received points is displayed, and this allows readers to get an idea of how pertinent is an article, without even the need to read it.
I wonder if the success of bitcoin would have been greater, had it been introduced/marketed as such a solution system.
