Bitcoin is now known as the digital currency that keeps on growing fast and jumping by leaps and bounds. So far, the return for investment (ROI) with Bitcoin is very, very positive..that is compared to other investment vehicles like stocks, bonds, forex, derivatives, commodities, gold, oil, etc.

Now this is a very theoretical question: What if one day Bitcoin would crash and within days it would go back to its $500 level...would you still support Bitcoin and HODL it or would you decide that it is becoming worthless and also join the sell market?

I would be selecting the best answer for this question...so come on and enjoy punching the keyboard!
I don't know what suddenly came into your mind to ask this question. Do you think it might gonna be happen that bitcoin will crash to 500$?
especially the prediction by the bitcoin experts it will become 10,000$ or more. So I don't think it will drop to 500$ and if ever that happen I will buy a huge of it. Grin

AT least in coming time even if the crash comes bitcoin will not go below 2000$. But it moving 5k is more likely then prices going down. So ideally if you want some return keep investing some of your income in btc and you will get good returns in another 6 months. Also investing in some of the altcoins is a very good idea considering the bitcoin is on rise so is ETH, ZCASH, Ripple etc.

People believed that it's not going to go below 2k just a couple of weeks ago yet btc went to 1800 at one point. We really can't be complacent since there are a lot of factors that make up price volatility. Though i can't really imagine myself that bitcoin would go 500$. At this point, only time that's going to happen is if btc will be going down for good which is very unlikely

Although impossible to happen at the moment because of growing demands. Even the price go as low as $500 I'd still choose to support it and gonna hold my coin. Others will do the same for sure(except those who always got panic). Because we strongly believe that it will goes up again.
Actually most trader on market in current also choose buying if the price of Bitcoin can breakdown to under $1000 again, because in history the price of Bitcoin always recovery and growth more than after big crash. So why not take advantage this opportunity and buy more for our funds Roll Eyes?

Of course that's an opportunity that everybody shouldn't miss. Buying bitcoin when it crashes, many are awaiting to that.
Definitely suppoat bitcoin all they way, bitcoin reaches this far and if its crash to that level then I dont care. As long as i know that when it crashes, sooner it will recover and be skyrocket. Yes, as a digital currency, fluctuation is only just around in the corner so let's be use to that.

I probably would hold in that scenario, but if Bitcoin dropped that much there would probably be some major problem that caused it. You would really need to know the reason for such a drop to determine exactly how you would react to it.

I seriously doubt at this point that could happen unless something like extremely high fees made Bitcoin useless for transactions. Then people would probably try to sell it all and the price would drop.

yes I will support bitcoin in any situation and that will benefit us only we all have to keep our money in bitcoin then it is not possible that the price of bitcoin will reduce and so we will not see bitcoin at lower price. We believe that if we will hold then it is possible that we do not lose our money and if we will sell then the price will fall.
yes we need to support bitcoin because it is the nee of the day. i think  bitcoin is becoming a global currency now and hope that if we will give good support to bitcoin then it will become as the main currency of the people and then they will be using bitcoin for everything they want to buy, but for that we need to support bitcoin and make it as number one currency of the world.

It doesn't work if bitcoin can not develop further, just in case if something like big problem occur in the future.
I prefer to cash out at higher price and forget it for a while until bitcoin stay at $500 and seems will not fall again, if most people start to buy, I won't buy as I still have bitcoin in my wallet, lol. I believe in bitcoin, so, panic sell won't influence my decision to be involved, better to save my bitcoin and wait until bitcoin price recover again.

I have seen ethereum crash to less than a dollar price all in one day and recover back up again which gives me no reason to think twice about it. I would definitely go ahead with buying bitcoin at whichever price it were to drop to as it can recover very fast from panic buyers wanting to buy a bag load of bitcoins and wanting to be rich fast. But as things stand bitcoin is in a good financial position and the crash wont be happening!

It is quite impossible for Bitcoin to drop to $500 again, because traders would just swarm in to purchase bitcoins at a certain price drop, and this surge of buying would stabilize the bitcoin value at certain level, I believe many users here would even jump into the market to buy bitcoin if the price of bitcoin drops to $2000.

This question has been asked many times before and it is the main argument of bitcoin enemies against bitcoin - that there is no way to predict the price and it is extremely volatile asset.
Yes, bitcoin is like this - because there is no central bank steering the price from the shadows and keeping its stable.
Bitcoin 'crashed' before, some of us remember the crazy low price (around $200) in early 2015 and considering that in late 2013 1 BTC was worth $1200 it was a devastating blow.
As you can see I am still here and will be as long I will see that bitcoin is the cure for corrupt fiat system and overgrown banking system.

If bitcoin price will drastically drop at $500 then there will be reason behind it and that is one of the main thing to be consider if I need to buy more bitcoin or just let it go if I think that there will still be a chance that it will bounce back which happens all the time then I will buy plenty of bitcoin and will take that second chance to hold plenty of bitcoin.

Bitcoin price can never ever fall back to 500$. It is simply not possible. If it does that it only means there is some serious issue in blockchain and bitcoin is going to be dead so all of the people dumping making it drop to 500$. But then i think this can only happen in dream and not in reality.

Most people will vote for yes, as we do know what bitcoin capable to achieve in the future.
But, the problem is, we don't know what exactly will happen in the future, and what kind of problems that may cause bitcoin price fall to $500? If the problem really a big, bad one and bitcoin won't survive, no, I won't buy back.
Maybe because bitcoin protocol, basic nodes could changed in the future and cause massive cash out from everyone, then nothing left for bitcoin, hopefully it won't happen as long as devs team and all of us in here keep supporting bitcoin environment.

Most of the people are here for a long term basis and will support bitcoin for quite some time i believe. People will join the sell market because no one wants to face a loss so if they have a chance to avoid it why won't they do it? Just because some people will sell their bitcoin when bitcoin crashes doesn't mean they would consider it worthless and won't support it! If bitcoin came from 500$ to 3400$  in the past ,why won't it rise again?

Any currency only has value because people subscribe value to it. And if you consider the market cap of all cryptocurrencies, things become clear that 500 usd is now almost surely a thing of the past.

And the reason why a lot of people say, the numbers will soon be in the 100.000's is because of the sheer logic of demand and how market cap works.

This graphic illustrates it nicely I think.
http://money.visualcapitalist.com/all-of-the-worlds-money-and-markets-in-one-visualization/

It's an old graphic. The Bitcoin square is now about three times that size. Which is moot. There is no comparison to the rest of the financial world. And if only 1% of that money pours into crypto, the 100.000 number is a huge lowball.

No never, if the price is decreased to this level of $500 (which doesn't seems to be happen) i will never going to sell it because surely it will rise again. The bitcoin market have many ups and downs that doesn't mean that we will cash out and stop using it. It is still the best of all.

Well, it is bitcoin is a place that could give us pleasure and sadness. Moreover, we use in trading, if we mmenag since the beginning does not have good self control it is definitely do much trading tend to give a lot of losses. Because it sure every thing is happening largely from a sense of panic, it has the wrong thing is to be patient and do the analysis. Only with a good analysis, will surely give much meaning very much

The only reason why this will happen is that if people starts losing faith in bitcoin and as at today, the faith is still strong. So, if peradventure it happens as you have predicted which I am it wont be new to those who have been in the space for quite a long time, they wont be bothered and as for me, I will join in their faith to still keep the faith high and still hold as this offers its opportunity as well.
As long as the faith is high on bitcoin it would really be impossible to think of as of now that the price would go back on $500 price. Seeing now we are already to its new ATH after all these years and we can really able to say that bitcoin becomes stronger and stronger as the time goes by which means going back on dip prices would somehow impossible to think as of now but theres always a possibility and we should not forget those things.

If only I knew bitcoin since before it was launched I perhaps one of the millionaires right now.  Instant millionaire.  I am patient in waiting things and always give chance.  To answer your question, the obvious answer would be I will keep my bitcoins and probably buy more.  It would be my chance to own a bitcoin.  I always wanted to but considering itsnprice right now it is impossible for me to own atleast one bitcoin.  So I will hold it amd waiy for the time that it will goes up again and regain its strength.

Well, first i would survey the current situation. Their are many factors that I have to take into account.
Why did it drop?
Is it going to continue to drop?
Is it going to go BACK up?
If it looks like BTC is on a downward hill with no coming back, then I will probably avoid buying this coin, and invest in others, however, if the reason for this was because of rumours/ speculation eg. New forks that WILL kill bitcoin, then i would gamble and buy it as i think there would be a good chance that BTC will rise again.

I do not think FUD and rumors have enough power to crash bitcoin to 500$. The only thing that will crash it to that level is when there is a major and irreparable flaw in its system. SO if it drops that low, there is no turning back.

Exactly this is the thoughts of many that is why it will not even touch $500 again. Whenever the price dips, people go suddenly panic buys it pushing it up again. So its very impossible to reach that not even below $2000 now. That is why for those you have bought it days before the Aug 1 at ~1900 and that is the lowest price bitcoin has, in recent months. And then what happened? People took advantage of this low price and buying started, pushing the price to go $2000++ again. And now we are seeing it $3200++. So I doubt that $500 scenario will occur.

That crash will be very unlikely to happen, yes bitcoin is a volatile currency but it will not crash to $500 anytime soon although it might take some few dips like a $100-200 reduction in its value but the price will always bounce back this happens to give traders chance to buy and sell bitcoin when the price decrease and when the price soars up to newer highs. If you're wondering why bitcoin will not crash into all time low because the price isn't just supported by traders but also merchants, local and online businesses, like restaurants, hotels, e-commerce even countries started accepting it.  That's why it wont crash.

Because already there been a lot of demand and interest in bitcoin on the market, so it's very unlikely that bitcoin crashes badly let alone up to $500 I guess it will not happen. Now bitcoin has become big and strong, so it feels very hard to knock down a strong wall.
I think still depending the exchange BTC-e in next time can refund the funds of their user or not, because after BTC-e has said they will refund in September until October, the price of Bitcoin stable at price $2500 and growth until today.

Sure you will enjoy the reading posts and will be selecting best answer you like and meanwhile I'm going to buy thousands of BTC if it is going that down. Lols.

You I'm pretty sure that people will want to buy bitcoins more and more once it starts moving down. However with current scenario I don't think bitcoin will fall because once it starts moving down people sell due to panicking and then the prices of bitcoin fall to a specific amount. Once it's stable at that low point there will be some people who will be buying because they know it's very low and can profit them. So now due to their investment bitcoin starts gaining the value back again.

Maybe in that time some reasons why it went down is there are already better crypto out there probably by the same team and btc would just be a leftout project. For mw i would not anymore and would invest in some better investment that made btc go at such price. Admit it that btc wont always be the number and its just served as a pioneer for other cryptocurrencies.
Utter bullshit, so many what ifs and despite them all we're going up, I know well enough that current price increase is not natural, people are buying

In anticipation of another possible split to have as many Bitcoins as possible to claim some free altcoin, because I don't think the difficulty level is high

Enough to justify the rise to $3300 plus wide market spread. I can only believe in this price if it can hold it's place even if the dumps are more than

Those buy walls for at least 2 weeks. Bitcoin is the pioneer and will remain the number one and if at any time and price it starts to fail it's market

And crashes then we'll know the limit, then any other crypto going up to the same levels of BTC, know for sure that they will crash or better say

Drop back like Bitcoin did, but I don't think that's probable because no other coin has the brand.

Admit it that btc wont always be the number and its just served as a pioneer for other cryptocurrencies.

I would sell before that.
And I don't think Bitcoin will drop to $500 but maybe $1,500 after the bubble bursts.
Right now the price is surging exponentially, so the bubble is going to burst soon.

How many exact copies of Bitcoin are out there but without any support and real market value? there are many and there are some truly legit

Coins, we have countless alternatives for it but only this original one is the most successful of them all. what other coins do you have in mind mate?

One way or another, people will always use decentralized currency when they need it and there will always be some restrictions from governments

To push the people towards cryptocurrencies. here stands Bitcoin to use it for what it can offer. I don't see any time soon anyone stop eating unless

They're dead, so why would people stop using Bitcoin ever?

The thing is, bitcoin won't ever drop back to $500 again, the last crash proven it held on $1800 as the lowest price, reluctant to go further down.
But, if bitcoin somehow crash and fall to $500, maybe because something - big problem, I won't buy it unless it won't fall even further. I will buy back, but at the lowest point obviously, as I know bitcoin will recover to the ATH and rise again. No doubt about it.

Even when the price was below $1000 price of bitcoin was fluctuating. Now with the increased price too the price fluctuation is commonly taking place. So price drop cannot be considered as a crash. Even if something negative happens too the price will grow back in a short.
that is right that we can only see the correction but not a bitcoin crash. i think the price of bitcoin is going to increase nonstop for some time and may be after reaching to 4000$ it will stay there for some time and will take correction and after that it will again start increasing and hopefully will reach to 5000$ smoothly.

As a profit .It is help for fullfil ours additional desire.

I would surely purchase more and more bitcoins if the price goes down to 500$. I missed a chance to have more profit by purchasing bitcoins in the past. I regret now. If the price really goes below up to 500$ then i will purchase bitcoin in a large amount and then i will surely wait a lot until the price again comes to level.

In reality it is hard to fall back to 500$ because every time it sheds a thousand dollar, people will see it as a buy opportunity and will push the price back up. The only reason it will fall is if someone finds an irreparable flaw in the system. In which case, I will sell way above that price and secure profit. And will still buy if it falls beyond 500$ just in case it gets revived.
This is basically my opinion only expressed way better than I could have done.
Basically, bitcoin is valuable, because people give it value.

Dude world will go upside down to invest everything they have got into bitcoin. This is because of faith that everyone knows bitcoin will go up in short time again. However your question is very imaginative as price of bitcoin will never fall to that much low henceforth. Due this activation of segwit it would be more stable and blockchain will be little more efficient than previous stage. It is kinda upgrade that made it more stable now and the price will keep rising now.

No never, if the price is decreased to this level of $500 (which doesn't seems to be happen) i will never going to sell it because surely it will rise again. The bitcoin market have many ups and downs that doesn't mean that we will cash out and stop using it. It is still the best of all.

This price will not be never. Bitcoin is limited and therefore by the laws of Economics the price of it will decline. I believe that soon trade with bitcoin will receive a boost to its development and this will only increase the demand for bitcoin and thus the price will continue to grow.

For bitcoin to get back to  $500 may not be possible again as the current price movement proved that bitcoin is poise to appreciate instead of depreciate. We can really see the position of thing by analysis how hard it is to get to were it is today. Bitcoin forth it way to this present state by stand against all opposition to push it back. We have strong support at $2800, $2,500, $2,000, $1750, $1500 and $1,000 if bitcoin fell bellow this then something fundamentally is wrong and I will hold my coin because I have faith that bitcoin will get to $10,000.

I will not sell, nor will I hodl, I WILL HOARD! That is right, I will buy with every single cent I have in my pockets just to buy more bitcoins.

That drop is likely just a temporary one and likely the prices will go back up in a very quick phase too. I think that will happen when satoshi suddenly dumps his 1,000,000 bitcoins in just one go.
Haha he not stupid as your tell, why not choose selling slowly and enjoy the profit from the growth of Bitcoin everyday? And he also not want sell his Bitcoin soon because as my knowledge, he waiting Bitcoin can popular than in most contry on the world's before sell it.

Such a reduction in Bitcoin price is likely sign a Bitcoin death. Of course the reason of price fall should be considered.

$500 is not bad for bitcoin, I remember it being from 2000$ to $900 but do the supporters of bitcoin sell? No, instead it only make the demand go outrageous then go back from its highest value and it even overcome it then go higher. Bitcoin already has a great foundation and it cannot be destroyed only because the price go lower than other expected, it will only grow and grow and stopping it will be a hard thing. Even BCH didn't get that chance. Holding it is the best choice no matter what it can go over $200 but it will still be alive and grow and wait for the investors to notice it again.

It depends on how you trust the future of Bitcoin and what you can afford to lose.
If you are really confident with Bitcoin, you can continue to hold your coin and wait to see the value coming back to what it was. You know you won't lose something, it's just a matter of patience. How big the patience shall be is, of course, another story.
If you are on low budget and can't afford to lose some money it' better to join the selling market because we all have bills to pay and a family to feed. It's like gambling with a money you can't afford to lose.If you tell to your wife you can pay the next bills because you spent all in the casino. You know what's going to happen Cheesy

It would really be the circumstance of the price plunge. For example, before the fork, the price did dip a bit but I think most people managed to keep their trust in bitcoin. As we're seeing now, the price has pretty much more than rebounded.

It dropping back to as low as $500 would be troubling though. I think that would only happen if it got banned or became unusable.

Bitcoin prices are not fixed by any organization, nor are they pegged to value of any other currency or commodity. Sole determinant of its price is users of Bitcoin themselves. So if there is any possible depreciation of Bitcoin to $500, it won't be drastically first. Rather it would be step-wise gradual decrease. Now this gradual decrease can be further fragmented into several stages consisting following -
1. Big cause backing decrease like ban, illegality, split, etc.
2. Initial downfall due to any above cause.
3. Panic selling due to downfall in price.
4. Permanent leaving by hodlers.

If these four steps happen, I would for sure be leaving BTC as there would be hardly any chance of reviving market.

This question have been asked already for how many times on this forum but i would still answer this one.Its really hard to believe that it would crash again on $500 price point but theres really always a possibility knowing here on cryptoworld theres no assurance of steady or strong support of prices because anytime there would a possibility that price might crash in a shortest period of time. In this case,i will still observe on how the price would behave on those situation if it start to rise up again then i guess its the best time to buy again.

Well, materially and calculations that bitcoin is the most advantageous place to get roi. Because the price fluctuations bitcoin is absolutely wonderful, so for those who can read all the things there is surely going to get a very quick ROI. But it is indeed one thing we have to do is have patience, because without a certain patience we'll get something harmful. Because patience is a very important thing to have.

The only time I will be buying Bitcoin at the 500$ level is when it has established its base their. But if there is no sign that it will stop at the 500$ level I will just continue to monitor it. And yes I will buy back Bitcoin as long as there is no bad news ruining it or any legal issues behind its fall. With that kind of Bottom Fishing Technique I could have easily doubled or even tripled my money if I have that opportunity.

Bitcoin as a currency of the masses has proven over and over again, that it is here to stay and we the people are happy for that. It is a currency of value. No matter what the exchange rate to fiat currency turns to be, I believe that will not take away the real value it represents. Thus, it will always bounce back with time. In that case, I will always hold unto my Bitcoin notwithstanding any prevailing exchange rate and even buy more if I have the financial capacity to do so. Bitcoin all the way!
