Still quite small actually especially when we're gonna speak of worldwide measurements/populations and there are countless cities in each countries. It is quite of a good progress though. I thought that these ATMs stopped popping up through different countries, I haven't heard anything yet that these ATMs would reach my city soon enough. I bet that it'll be 5-10 years before that happens.

Great. This is probably the news I most want to hear at the moment. Bitcoin will grow even more in 2020. It is possible to break through the 16k$ mark

A new record has been set with over 6,000 Bitcoin ATMs installed worldwide. Everyday, cryptocurrency achieves a unique milestone which further puts it in position for global adoption which is inevitable.

Despite the fact that cryptocurrency does not have a full-fledged mass distribution, we can observe how smart people form the infrastructure.
Question for what? In order for us to have all the necessary tools for working with cryptocurrencies and bitcoin during the next cryptocurrency boom of mass adaptation.
I don’t think that someone will spend money on ATMs without waiting for a return.

Of course this is logic. People always wanted something in return, these atm probably have some fees that can let them earn some good profit for continuously adding some machine. Well we can't feel it since people are not yet totally adopted and some are still on the process of learning this. Maybe in the future we can see a total adoption.

day by day it grew, initially only 1 atm, then now thousands. this indicates that crypto is already in great demand, not only for investors and traders, now the goal is to create an atm is the general public.

You're absolutely right. Bitcoin ATMs are a good way to spread crypto. Even those people who know nothing about it will be interested and then mass adoption will really come very soon.

It is very cool that bitcoin ATMs are becoming more and more despite the fact that at first glance cryptocurrency is not gaining momentum not as fast as it actually is.
We are moving very quickly to the digital world, cryptocurrencies are gaining infrastructure every day. At the right time, everything will be ready for use.

The invention of Bitcoin ATMs is a huge step taken into the adoption of digital currencies, A notable aspect of these ATMs is that it allows you to buy/sell bitcoins anonymously. No KYC or AML is required to transact using a Bitcoin ATM which means it is actually a very good way to secure your identity and privacy.

Yes, Bitcoin ATMs are getting bigger. I believe that this is a good dynamic in the development of the crypto industry. The main thing is that as many countries of the world as possible, introduce the legislative regulation of cryptocurrencies. Every year, there will be more Bitcoin ATMs!

I think its only but a matter of time before cryptocurrency becomes adopted across the world. Its evident that governments, institutions, educational bodies, health sector, banking and so on are adjusting positively to align with crypto and blockchain. One day, it might just be 600,000 bitcoin ATMs installed worldwide.

Interest of governments are limited to blockchain only and not to cryptocurrency. BTC installations are good but they have high fees due to which they are not widely used.
I haven't seen one in my country, though it was said to have 2 already. But since BTC can still be used here without ATM as there are wallets can be used in payment for stores and bills. But having a physical ATM can really attract new users for a wide adoption, since there are limited that fees consider to be high but once it became popular it will be like ATM Banks fees only.

Very interesting there are many ATMs worldwide

Here are some of the list of Bitcoin ATMs

1. United States (1009)

2.Canada (256)

3. United Kingdom (85)

4. Austria (66)

5. Span (37)

6. Finland (22) etc..

Bitcoin ATMs are safe to use but they charge higher fees than Traditional exchange and one more thing is that many bitcoin ATMs do not allow you to withdraw fait currency users can buy and sell bitcoin.

There are regulations to use bitcoin in many countries

Great list, thanks.

It is usual for them to charge more commissions than traditional exchanges. Because these ATMs have electricity, maintenance, and rental fees. These fees need to be met in some way. It is quite possible that they will demand a higher commission from their customers.

That is so excited! Crypto become more and more useful and we should celebrate it! Once I saw crypto ATM in Odessa city (Ukrain). That is only one which I saw in my life. But now we even have crypto debit card which we can use to spend money.

It's a good thing to use as advertise, but I'm curious about something: have you guys ever use any of these ATMs to buy or sell BTC?
Honesty here  Grin

I never see a machine like that, not even on airports that I landed

I also have never seen an ATM machine anywhere. because it is only certain countries that have Bitcoin ATM machines. This is because the regulations of each country are different. Bitcoin ATM machines will make bitcoin more familiar to ordinary people who don't understand cryptocurrency, they will ask questions and then try to use it.

And I am proud that despite the fact that there is less number of crypto enthusiasts here in our country that we already have 2 Bitcoin ATM that we can be proud of as a crypto users and I am also proud that the bank that putted up ATM is planning to adopt blockchain in their bank and still in the process of having banks in some different places all over our country.

I agree with your opinion, indeed the regulations of the local government are felt to be less responsive to the use and procurement of Bitcoin ATMs, because not all countries authorize digital currency such as BTC to be used as legal tender. As in my country, BTC is still considered a controversial subject. In addition, of course, the charge will certainly be more expensive than the existing exchanger, it could be because the ATM is easy to do, and can be done at any time even on the roadside.

It simply means that the people around the world are starting to get into cryptocurrency because if they are not interested then there will be no atm around the world because they will just lose money. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are now becoming a normal choice for other people in terms of investing into an asset. I hope the number of atms will grow even more.

6k Atm's across the world is pretty good number before we enter 2020 as this is a sign that people starting to get interested into cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin mostly so even this is a small sign that new bull run is on the way. In recent years we barely had 2k Atm's in the world and since then the number tripled so a 60k$ bitcoin is most likely than before. Personally I would expect the number to be around 8k atm's until the end of 2020 or maybe even more.

I cannot say that this is a sign that a bull is coming our way. A Bitcoin ATM does not mean that there will be a pump happening. A large number of buying investors will be the ones who will cause a pump and not the installation of additional ATMs in the world. As far as I observe, Bitcoin ATMs are used more often by those individuals who are already into Bitcoin. New Bitcoin investors will probably not be using ATMs to buy their first Bitcoin.

Good news, I hope that a bitcoin ATM can soon expand not only in parts of the continent but in all parts of the world, especially in my country, which is only available at tourism sites and that is still very little for BTC ATMs. And besides that it can be very possible also for altcoin or other tokens to immediately realize their tokens at the ATM, not only BTC but like ETH, EOS and others. One problem that is most frequently encountered is the local government's policy regarding the legalization of BTC and its users, really hoping that one of the leaders or people who understand about Crypto can socialize Crypto, BTC to every country in the world, because now it's the digital age everyone must and can feel the benefits of the digital age.

Nice and useful improvement.

But I really don't know what Bitcoin ATMs do. Can you sell Bitcoin and get cash for it? If it has such a property, it is truly magnificent.

I hope a few helpful people in the forum can give me some information about it.

Depends what your local Bitcoin ATMs support, but generally you're able to trade Bitcoin to cash and vice-versa with Bitcoin and crypto ATMs. Many of them now require verification (ID, etc) for any sort of transfer, or verification above some certain amount of fiat, though I've found most Bitcoin and crypto ATMs still allow you to transact without verification.

If you're looking for Bitcoin ATMs near you (some support alts too), CoinATMRadar (click for link) has a good map for that, which also shows whether or not the ATMs near you allow only buying or both buying and selling. Fees also vary by ATM, though I believe you're paying a premium over getting your fiat from an exchange in most cases. The majority of 'em are still located in North America with the second most being in Europe at the moment, though we're seeing more of these all over the map in general.

Thank you very much for the information.

Bitcoin-Cash exchange is essential. I know there are Bitcoin ATMs in the country where I live, but I don't think there is a Bitcoin ATM in the city where I live.

Such news and developments are particularly important for mass adoption. It is not used as much as banks for now, but I believe they will be much more functional in the future.

It's a pretty good amount for a Bitcoin ATM, I think some countries will do the same thing by placing a Bitcoin ATM near a supermarket, this will make it easier for everyone to make payment transactions using Bitcoin, but there are still countries that prohibit payment transactions using BTC, and for the Bitcoin ATM I think it can grow again in the future

Yeah, around 4000 of that ATM is in the US.
Wow!  If that's true, then there aren't really a lot of ATM's in the rest of the world and personally I think that's way too many for the states.  I don't get the sense that they're very popular, honestly.  They aren't anonymous, you don't know where your personal data is going, and the fees are really high compared to an exchange like coinbase.  They might be convenient, but convenience isn't really needed when it comes to buying bitcoin in your neighborhood where you probably can't spend them nearby anyway.  It's much more cost effective to buy bitcoins on an exchange.

I still like to see the number growing, tho it would be so much better if the ATM's asking price was lower.  That's got to turn many potential customers off.

That's true, US has the majority of bitcoin's ATM. And if someone thought that Japan, nah, it has like 2 Bitcoin ATM at the moment. I guess it's pretty obvious that US has a lot of traders and crypto adoption is growing but we didn't see it because SEC is still in the middle. Yeah, we need more Bitcoin ATM's around the world, specially in Asia and Africa wherein adoption should happen.

Yeah, around 4000 of that ATM is in the US. So it's just really a matter of time because people (no coiner) are going to try and used Bitcoin ATM and see it for themselves. So it's a win-win situation and we might be closer to the adoption that we are all hoping to happen in the next five years. And I'm sure more companies are going to join this ATM business because it is booming, and operators will grow as well.

Here is a list of top bitcoin ATM providers on the market at the moment, which can be recommend. All of the providers have a long tracked positive history on the market:
  • Genesis Coin — provides one-way solution Satoshi1 for $6.8K and a two-way Satoshi2 machine for $2.1K on top of one-way price. There is also old Genesis1 for $14.5K.
  • General Bytes — provides a one-way bitcoin ATM called BATMTwo for 2849 USD and two-way bitcoin ATM BATMThreeL (basic version) for $7K. There are several different variations of BATMThree models family depending on hardware you choose.
  • Lamassu — provides one-way solution Douro ($6.5K), additionally Santo Tirso stand can be purchased to make it two-way for $5.5K making the total cost of two-way Lamassu solution of $12K.
  • BitAccess — provides a two-way bitcoin ATM machine for $7K

Setting up these ATMs is a good innovation but, how many people use it? IMO very few. There are even other altcoins that create their own ATMs. Actually, it can not help us. Instead of this, accepting cryptocurrency as a payment method in some places would be beneficial for the stronger crypto community in all respects. If these ATMs were so useful, people would use them instead of exchanges.
In my opinion, the increasing number of Bitcoin ATMs is a sign of higher demand, it is not possible for providers to install these ATMs without consideration, right?
The existence of this ATM machine allows users to make Bitcoin purchases instantly using cash, although the 8-15% service fee does not make it devoid of interest.
Not really, it's the company target to always add as much ATM possible so that they can cover a more wider bitcoin users into using their ATM service although the service fee is too high as you said than usually but hey it's better than nothing isn't it?.
These ATM machine could benefit when people are in need of immediate cash meanwhile their fund is still in form of cryptos but otherwise it's not really helpful but I do appreciate their effort to keep adding Atm into public atleast it could increase the recognition of BTC in the eyes of people.

You have a point here, it's not all about installing those ATMs but how well it's utilized. When I first saw that news on cointelegraph about bitcoin ATMs exceeding 6000 installations, I was really amazed but still I know local authorities will restrict the use to an extent.  Well, we need more news about practical use and adoption in real world so it's still OK.

Now, we can that day is not far away when people will use Bitcoin as online money worldwide like PayPal or Payoneer. Crypto mass adoption will happen certainly.

For adoption the increase in crypto ATMs is good. Also can be considered useful as an exchange. But, the fee charged is great. I withdrawed the money to try it once and it was my last use. If they make any progress on fee matter, I think it will attract more attention.

Quite alot but they only reside in a country wherein they are fully accepted and people are pretty much aware of its purpose and function. While here in my country I only knew one certain place, and imagine over 6,000 bitcoin ATMs and we only had 1 of it currently residing in a wide city faraway from my home. I'm happy for this news that bitcoin will be receiving more recognition through bitcoin ATMs. It's an achievement though I'm kinda disappointed that with this over 6,000 bitcoin ATM worldwide, I haven't seen one in person and if I'm not mistaken, there's only 2 ATMs in my country which is the Philippines. Where in fact, Philippines is a crypto-friendly country as well, although cryptocurrency isn't that popular yet, the government don't give strict regulations with bitcoin. And I don't know why there's only few ATMs being launched in my country. And to the fact that those 2 ATMs are quite far from my location, I guess I'll just have to wait until bitcoin will be more recognized and they would install one near my place.

We need more of such ATMs and fewer fees. We'd also need OTP counters to change our fiat into crypto, until that every bitcoin enthusiast and trader should act as a mobile exchange counters to ease up people buying bitcoins. Many people don't have bitcoin as they believe it's a hassle to buy and hold it.

That was another milestone of the cryptocurrency adoption and development! in my country there was only 2 operational cryptocurrency ATM's today one in a hotel and other one was in a Bank headquarters, But there's a lot of store that offering OTC transactions nationwide, I must say that our government recognize cryptocurrency as another revolutionized form of financial system that can drive financial inclusion in my country. I also believe that cryptocurrency can change our whooping $29.1 Billion dollars overseas remittance industry.

As far as I know there is no Bitcoin ATM in my country and in my opinion your government is quite responsive to the development of cryptocurrency. By granting permission for a Bitcoin ATM, this means that the country provides alternatives to its citizens to invest or make transactions as they wish

This is a good development because with the spread of bitcoin ATMs, people will get to know bitcoin better. Many merchants already accept payment using crypto and this is the initial process of crypto adoption. Increasingly in the next few years, crypto is becoming easier to use in many countries
The existence of a bitcoin ATM will certainly greatly facilitate users in making each transaction to buy their digital currency directly on the spot, both for paper money and online wallet. Likewise, if we want to do 2-way transactions, so that in minutes we can sell Bitcoin at the same time get cash in the ATM, but of course, there will be additional costs in the service in the ATM that is greater than we trade in exchanges.

Bitcoin is growing bigger by giving 6000 bitcoin ATMs worldwide. But bitcoin ATMs aren't really spread all over the world. There are some countries that do not provide regulations on bitcoin transactions, many cause pros and cons because of the bitcoin voting value that has a high risk. Maybe in the future there will be new regulations so that bitcoin ATMs can be used evenly throughout the world.

A new record has been set with over 6,000 Bitcoin ATMs installed worldwide. Everyday, cryptocurrency achieves a unique milestone which further puts it in position for global adoption which is inevitable.

This is a good development because with the spread of bitcoin ATMs, people will get to know bitcoin better. Many merchants already accept payment using crypto and this is the initial process of crypto adoption. Increasingly in the next few years, crypto is becoming easier to use in many countries

This is very good and interesting news. With the existence of a bitcoin ATM, I hope that ordinary people can be more aware of the crypto world, especially bitcoin itself. And hopefully, they can start investing in it.
In my area, there hasn't been anything like this, so I hope that the adoption of bitcoin as soon as possible can go well. Because we have entered a world that has everything to do with the internet, IoT.

Bitcoin FTW!

This is great news for the growing adoption of Bitcoin. This would somehow address the lack of access of other people to Bitcoin. More and more demand for Bitcoin must have been the reason why there are additional Bitcoin ATMs installed all over the world. Although I hope these are installed in the most relevant of places to be able serve at the maximum level. There are Bitcoin ATMs that are left almost unused.

Excellent man, very good to hear this, crypto ATMS ive always thought will be a good part of mass adoption one day
Where i live up in Canada we had some of the first ever BTC ATMs, and they seem to have no troubles up here with vandalism, which is nice.
I always thought they were a great way to not worry about kyc, even if alot of them tend to gouge a person on their prices : / lol
Some crypto ATMS charge over 10% on top up here Sad

It's a good thing to use as advertise, but I'm curious about something: have you guys ever use any of these ATMs to buy or sell BTC?

It is good news for us as Bitcoin holders and must strengthen our beliefs about the adoption of Bitcoin in the future. Actually, there are many places in the world that need the Bitcoin ATMs to indicate the improvement of the community. However, I think legalization is still an obstacle to this adoption.

OP, it will be better if you enclose an article or valid sources related to your statement.  Wink

The news is good enough to introduce bitcoin even deeper, but I see no one is interested in Bitcoin when there are many ATMs that are launched. Still, not everyone seems happy about the growth in the popularity of Bitcoin ATMs, particularly in the United States. Or they are afraid of the requirements to comply with the same Know-Your-Customer, Anti-Money Laundering regulations, and we believe some people have different levels of compliance with these rules.
