Very good news on Canada and the world. We need the number of ordinary citizens holding Bitcoin to go up. That is the only way to make Bitcoin publicised and globalised and everyone to use it rather than just a trading asset.

The number of holders is 5,0%, up from 2,9$ from 2016

An estimated 1,9 million bitcoin is held by Canadians, up from 1,0 million from 2016.

Graphs and tables start on page 10.

this is exactly what is needed, general adoption between regular people. 5% is still not much, but it's growing, which is really positive. Let's hope we can gain 10% in Canada soon Smiley

That's actually quite a high number! I hope that if we look at the western world in general, the number is below that.
5% with nothing being really "useful" yet? that's too much!
we're likely not reaching 100% in a good while, the market will be "saturated" at an earlier point.
the higher % that is = lower end point.

This is a good share, thank you!

It would be nice to see what this growth looks like for other major countries in the world. I'll take a look at it and see if there's a reliable set of sources to provide such information for a broad global view.

Thanks!

No problem! Indeed, it is nice to see growth in knowledge/awareness as well as adoption.

The fact that slowly adoption and hodling of Bitcoin is going up, is a good sign. I guess also they make much profit from trading as well, so their holdings must be growing. Is there a place we can visit to see adoption all across the world and how it is going? Although this does not reflect at all in the price, as the price has tanked 75% since January, it is good to see there are more people getting into Bitcoin now.

I hope the Bank of Canada does this survey again soon to see what people's reactions are after the 'crash,' maybe adding questions of whether of not you still hold, continue to buy, believe in btc, etc.
