Maybe they really should have taken Google's offer!

They really should have. I haven't seen yet a good reason for them turning Google down. I think it was at least partially pride and maybe a bit of hubris. One way or another they're going to regret it because now they have competition and they're going to crash and burn.

Groupon is NOT owned by Ebay. Why do you think they had to delay their IPO? Because they are independent.

Probably a big mistake since now that they've pissed off Google by turning down that offer they've painted a target on their back. By delaying their IPO they've just given Google a chance to bring out their solution which will if nothing else be much better funded and will have more leverage with companies.

Interesting article re Groupon: http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2011/06/groupon-risks-and-gifts/ Groupon’s Legal Risks And Hidden Gift To Merchants

Maybe they really should have taken Google's offer!

Is there anyway to use your bitcoins in the outside world? I mean having lunch in a restaurant for example.

You can buy lunch at the Mezegrill in downtown Manhattan.
too far from where i live Smiley

I've seen virtual visa's that you can add credit that you pay with BTC. But only for online transactions... it would be cool to use them in the outside world.
