Could you please visit the website again and tell me how it is now? I thin I made some big improvements and the speed should be much better now. Please let me know. Thanks!
Everything loads very fast and works great on my side, and I tested this on several different browsers (LibreWolf, Firefox, Brave).

I noticed you added nice option for book translations in other languages, and I know for one book called Digital Gold by Nathaniel Popper there is translation in more languages.
Translated title is Digitalno zlato:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38611458-digitalno-zlato

PS
Maybe you can use Goodreads website to find more books about Bitcoin.
I just find one after few seconds search called Bitcoin Billionaires by Ben Mezrich, and it's not available on your Bitcoin Bookstore website Wink
https://www.goodreads.com/search?q=Bitcoin

Thanks for testing and the tips! Bitcoin Billionaires is on my list with many others. Still have to find out if it is not too sh*tcoinery...

Nice! However, the website is more of a digital bookshelf for Bitcoin-related books, which is useful, rather than a bookstore. Your project would matter more if you'd find a way to launch a bookstore where clients could pay with Bitcoin and another crypto. I saw the discussion and I understand that you leverage Amazon and therefore you should comply with their rules. However, anyone could go and search on Amazon for Bitcoin-related books themselves. So, if you really want the website to be more than an Amazon reseller of Bitcoin-related books, then find a way to either sell directly or resell in BTC or any other digital currency.
Good luck!

Hi all who replied earlier about the speed of the website:

Could you please visit the website again and tell me how it is now? I thin I made some big improvements and the speed should be much better now. Please let me know. Thanks!
Just finished checking it and honestly, I didn't feel any difference or rather improvements on the overall speed of the website in question [tested in Chrome, Firefox and Opera].
- While I was making small tests for the above thing, I noticed the audiobook bug still exists (perhaps some of your recent changes brought it back)!

Thanks for testing! Strange bug... Fixed again, thanks for mentioning.

The speed in all my browser and on all devices is way up, and PageSpeed also gives better score, so bummer you don't notice any improvement. Running out of things to try haha.

Are you working on a VPS or shared hosting server? Considering the fact that the project you're working on requires lots of bandwidths whenever you plan to restructure it into a bookstore where people can directly  download or read bitcoin books. I think it will get hold of audiences on the site other than the affiliation with Amazon books. However it's great as you'll make money out of referral, more like Amazon affiliate sites. But, a problem is not being solved, which is the sole aim of business. Like others suggested, allowing bitcoin as a payment method will solve lots of problems in this market, as it fall in line with what your audience have in mind once they see your domain name. Hence, to be in control of the books and maintaining page speed you need a VPS if you are not using it already.

Currently can only find 3 books that are legally free to download. Hope to find/add more!
I think there are more free Bitcoin related books and I will try to find them and post links here.
One more paid Bitcoin books you could add is called Why Buy Bitcoin by Andy Edstrom, but you could add Bitcoin Whitepaper that is free.
That being said, maybe you can add filtering by authors and add links for other languages other than English.

EDIT:
Swan Bitcoin cofounder Yan Pritzker gives away book Inventing Bitcoin for FREE to Swan community:
https://www.swanbitcoin.com/inventing-bitcoin/

Thanks, got Inventing Bitcoin already Wink.

The whitepaper will be nice yes. Filter by author can now be done by typing in at 'search any term'. Don't want to add too much filters.

Will put links to other languages than English on the to do list!

Just added the requested 'Read for free' option.

You can now check the checkmark and get the books that are available online for free, with the link to the downloadpage on the book details page.

Appreciate the project!

Suppose if OP were to accept direct bitcoin payment, does this mean he/she have to ask permission from the copyright owner to be able to sell paperback and ebook copies?

From what I see, I think from start-up business standpoint, this would be very difficult to consider especially that there are tons of bitcoin related books available in the market and contacting every author would be extremely time-consuming.

I think OP would be acting as a reseller. Basically a middleman that takes payment in Bitcoin and then orders the book from Amazon or whatever for the customer where OP would likely have to make payment using fiat. He could charge a markup for this. I don’t think any special permits or licenses would be necessary for this. Maybe even a purse.io integration would be possible.

I also noticed that with the op because he mentioned that he has a small commission for each sale and you're right he also makes a mark-up for sure.

And I also think that I don't see anything wrong with the secret that he is doing, because it is also one of the things that helps spread bitcoin via online to communities that love it.

Whatever wasn't working yesterday seems OK now and I can open the site now. I like it. It's got plenty of filters to help n finding what you are looking for.
A couple of suggestions though:

  • I am not a big fan of looking at the white background. Please add a darker mode or allow users to switch between light and dark.
  • The site seems a bit slow when I play around with the filters. Maybe the experience could be a bit faster.
  • Have you thought about offering a preview of the books? A couple of sites that the user could read directly on the page. I have see that on Amazon and similar sites.

Overall, nice work, and I hope you will have success with it. Can you share some data? Have you gotten some commissions already from sales?

Thanks for the feedback.

Dark mode is now online, except for smaller screens. Coming as soon as possible.

Trying to speed up the website, but I think mostly one plugin is to blame and can't do without it without rebuilding the website... So don't know if I can do much else.

Some data to share: not really impressive haha. No commision as of yet, and 90 visitors in the last 4 weeks, mostly because I did a giveaway on Twitter/Nostr. And no donations, haha, but I don't count on that ever happening. Just hope to keep the site up with some commisions over time.

Well done mate, the design of the site looks simple and eye catching to me. Just one suggestion, can we have a dark mode option in the background as well?

Added Dark Mode as requested. Not on small screens yet, have some minor tweaks to do... Hope you all like it!

I recommend offering a newsletter subscription or include in your website, your social media accounts so people can follow you and they will get a new update if there are new e-books added.
I agree with you on the newsletter suggestion. It's not a bad idea. Those who subscribe could get some updates about newly added books, information about discounts and special offers, and some other info about what is going on with bitcoin. Maybe if OP hears some news about a new book coming out, the newsletter and his Twitter page would be good places where he could share that. Tyke, a member from this forum is writing a book covering Bitcoin's entire history. That's something that could be mentioned in the newsletter. Bitcoin 2008/09-2022 History Paperback/Hardcover Book.

But you are wrong about the missing social media links. You can find buttons that take you to BitcoinBookstore's Twitter profile at the top and the bottom of the website.

Great initiatives we should have this kind of platform, but I recommend offering a newsletter subscription or include in your website, your social media accounts so people can follow you and they will get a new update if there are new e-books added, offering free Bitcoin e-books are highly recommended these free e-books are for beginners so they may get entice to buy those e-books in the Amazon using your referral links.

I would love to take a look at your website but I am getting a dial tcp4 i/o timeout error on my end. Is the site currently down or is there an issue with VPN connections? A quick google search mentions firewall and network issues as reasons for not loading the site. Might be something to do with DNS servers as well.

Other sites load just fine and I haven't noticed any similar issues today.

If it's working with other sites then the problem is not with the DNS. It's might be due to the website resources access but I think it's also a rare chance maximum of chances are Network congestion. You can try later I think it will be fine as OP hasn't mentioned any type of regional restriction on site.

Op your website layout is decent but it's less responsive, particularly with the network I facing delays in loading all the resources, and filters working fine just small loading optimization is needed or maybe it's the issue on my end.

@BitcoinBookstore.io

  • There's a minor bug in the "Audiobook" section that instead of showing the correct number for each [Yes or No], it shows the total number in both subsections.
  • You might want to add more categories [e.g. mining, node and etc...].
    - I do know we could achieve almost the same result by using the search field, but judging by their descriptions, some of the results aren't accurate.
  • It'd be nice to see some improvements in its loading times.

Thanks for the comments.
- The audiobook bug is fixed.
- Adding more categories is an option. I put it on my to do list!
- Don't know if speeding up is possible, but I will look into it.

And if you like the project, please support it by buying your next Bitcoin book through the website so we get a small commission on the sales Wink.
Amazon gift cards paid with Bitcoin could work as alternative, but I prefer direct BTC payments.
The project is quite an interesting one with very much of rich informative books that many bitcoiners would really love to have their hands on them and with the use of BTC for direct payment it's gonna attract much sales from a lot of forum users who would like to give it a first hand trial.
They just have to make their payment options broad.

I understand that there are copyrights, but if you modified Sort by to have a section for free books or that you can download for free, it would be a great option, and some of us may not have the option to pay via Amazon, so if there is a way to pay with bitcoins and you buy them or gift cards, everything will be perfect.

As a design and options that are available, the site is beautiful, I hope to add more languages.

Your project looks great, The user interface is decent as well. The detailing and everything when a book is clicked is pretty awesome. I wonder how much time did you spend on creating the website? Are you the designer yourself or have you hired someone to design it for you?

As said by someone else as well, it would have been great if we could purchase the books directly with Bitcoin but since all of them are on Amazon, that's not an option. I also have one suggestion. I would have liked it better if there was a button that said, "Load more" at the bottom when we scrolled to the end instead of the entries loading up themselves. That would make it easier for visitors to also have a look at the footer of your website.

Thanks! The website, design and all is done by me alone. I don't know how much hours weent in to it, because I didn't keep track...

Yeah, can't think of any other way. But the problems start when people want to return the book. Plus the fact that you have paperback, hardcover, etc. etc. And the volatility. Lot of extra work I think...

Yes, sounds like it could be a ton of extra work. But think about the potential benefits too. A lot of people who use Bitcoin prefer to use it over fiat, and Amazon does not allow that right now. And unless you can offer something unique and different, most folks are probably just gonna order their books straight from Amazon.

Maybe contact the book authors that also sell their books with BTC already? That leaves only a few books.
First step would be to contact authors of books you have on your website.
Since you are giving them free promotion you can ask them to send you their BTC addresses for payment and they can send books directly to buyers.
For every sold book from your website you could receive small percentage payment, similar like with referral codes.
I said previously there are Amazon cards that are sold for Bitcoin, you can also sell this cards on your website for indirect payment of those books.

You could also add separate section for Bitcoin e-books.
For example Andreas Antonopoulos is selling his e-book Mastering Bitcoin, and he is accepting payment in Bitcoin directly, using BTCPay server or Coinbase.

Since you don't sell the books directly yourself, I think the only way you could offer the sale of the books in bitcoin would be to do some kind of dropshipping:

-You create BTC payment links associated with each book (you'll find a lot of documentation about this, offering BTC as payment is not complicated)
-You take the orders: the details of your customers: delivery address etc..
-You place the order on your side and have the books delivered to your customers

Otherwise, apart from that, your website is really well done!
I will use it as a database and I thank you for having centralized all this information, I discover the existence of many books thanks to you.

Sorting them by language is really cool.

I find the site a bit uncomfortable from a smartphone, but maybe it's because I have an old rotten Chinese smartphone, I don't know, maybe it's my Android version that is not updated enough.

Have a good continuation!

Thanks everyone for the tips about accepting Bitcoin payments. That would really be nice, but I don't really know how that would work...

If I take the payment in Bitcoin, which would be something that is possible of course, what happens next... I don't sell the books myself. If I than order them on Amazon myself and send them to the recipient, that is a strange workaround, plus the time difference is not something that is desirable with the volatility. Also with people returning books etc. seems like a hassle.

Maybe contact the book authors that also sell their books with BTC already? That leaves only a few books.

So not really sure how to implement it. Any tips are welcome because I love the idea!!!

Congratulations on your project, very cool.

I would like to add that some books are available online for free. You should post that in your website
For example ,  Mastering bitcoin is a free book available in github.com

https://www.bitcoinbookstore.io/books/mastering-bitcoin-bitcoin-book/
for free here: https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/

there are also multiple translations for this book.

Thanks. The tip for the free books is a nice one! Maybe I will add a section with all books that are available for free with their download link...

I really like your project! It is awesome that you have set up an online bookstore dedicated to Bitcoin topics. That being said, I noticed that others have already mentioned that it would be cool if customers could actually pay for their purchases with Bitcoin. I have to say, I totally agree! Not only would it be a really convenient feature for your customers, but it would also help to further promote the use of Bitcoin and increase awareness of its benefits. I know that there are a number of payment processors that make it pretty easy to do so these days, so it might be worth looking into.

I would like to add that some books are available online for free. You should post that in your website
For example ,  Mastering bitcoin is a free book available in github.com

https://www.bitcoinbookstore.io/books/mastering-bitcoin-bitcoin-book/
for free here: https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/

there are also multiple translations for this book.

And if you like the project, please support it by buying your next Bitcoin book through the website so we get a small commission on the sales Wink.
Your project looks cool, but Bitcoin books should have the option to be purchased with Bitcoin directly, not only to pay Amazon and fill pockets of Jeff Bezos.
Maybe you can add additional option with alternative like BTCPayServer, if book creators accept BTC payments, and i am sure some of them accept it.
It's cool that you are accepting donations both in BTC and in Lightning Network.

EDIT:
Amazon gift cards paid with Bitcoin could work as alternative, but I prefer direct BTC payments.

Hi everybody!

Recently launched www.bitcoinbookstore.io and was wondering what you think about it. It is a Bitcoin books database with search filters, info about the book translations, the authors Twitter profile etc. No shitcoin books allowed.

If you have a suggestion or comment, please let us know so we can work on it.

And if you like the project, please support it by buying your next Bitcoin book through the website so we get a small commission on the sales Wink.

Thanks!
