What matters to me the most is that it still serves it's primary purpose. As far as I can still send John Bull $1000 using bitcoin, I'm as good as fine.

There has been many topics in this forum with open ended questions like why didn't Bitcoin reach $20k mark or why there has been a slowdown, what's the reason for the recent fluctuations and when is it going to achieve $50k or $100k?

We need to understand that Bitcoin doesn't go as per our expectations or predictions because here are numerous factors which steers the Bitcoin market and price like demand and supply,  government's restrictions on Bitcoin or support for crypto currency then comes the whales. I couldn't answer everyone individually but I hope this will help users who have posted similar articles. Even I was one of them in the past.

To those doubters out there then for sure they had really make out some regrets now since the price had already reached in new ATH.If they did miss out on getting some position
into those lower levels or prices then they would really be murmuring now on why the hell they didnt able to make it or buy something on that level and if they do
then they had already be making some profits now in a very short span of time.Bitcoin doesnt really give out guarantees but if you do risk out something or do believe
then you would really be most likely be rewarded.Even though it isnt an assurance but at least you can see the potential is very high towards long term movement.

I couldn't answer everyone individually but I hope this will help users who have posted similar articles. Even I was one of them in the past.
You are correct, for the most part the answer to why the price of bitcoin does something is simply the supply and the demand, however that is not going to stop people from asking these kind of questions, one simply because with this new ATH a lot of newbies are bound to come to this market and this means they will ask those questions over and over again, and second because many people believe that if they can narrow down the specifics of why bitcoin moves the way it does they can get a competitive advantage over other traders and make money that way.

Sincerely you said it all, and it's no surprise that people keeps asking the same question over and over again, maybe if they have taken time to study previous predictions which didn't worked then they would have understood that there are factors which affects the price of Bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies. Also, in way to add, if more people understand that the entire crypto space is highly volatile and emotions amongst others factors plays a huge role in the market maybe there will be less predictions and less bag holders. Lastly, I think if one truly believes in Bitcoin and it's future possibilities, then holding no matter how small it might look without thinking it would go per his plan, would be the best form of holding, just as it took Bitcoin time to reach $20k.

Peoples live with expectations, but too much expectation would be a reason for the loss. A week ago, when Bitcoin was $17K and I expect to buy it when will drop $16.5K. But seems now Bitcoin is trading above $20K but I hadn't bought due to the price didn't drop as per my expectations. Bitcoin always running its own way, we don't know exactly what will happen. Better to follow the trend and get some profits, but really not an easy task at least for me.

So, I have to agree with OP and admit that, "Bitcoin can't go as per our plan"

maybe the question has now been answered. look bitcoins are up to $ 20k these days, so I think it's just waiting for time for bitcoins to reach what someone had planned and now it's time

Or simply put:    if more bitcoin is bought than is sold the price goes up,  If more is sold than is bought, price goes down. This should easily help anyone have basic understanding why price is goes up and down like that. Other factors still boil down on demand and supply.

Hi, I am not one of the people who keep asking why, but I do want to just point out what happened due to the pandemic. Since tons have been left without work, even more people are trying to make money online, and even more desperately so. Before, most people wouldn't try so hard to get crypto jobs because they were still secured with their real jobs. But now that's the only was some people can make money. Also those trying to get rich are jumping on the bandwagon by investing in BTC in hopes the price will rise. So due to the crash of the traditional offline economy, the crypto economy is booming. And I expect a deflation in case vaccination helps speed up the extinction of COVID.

Bitcoin is part of my plan always but I can't take it as only plan it will be last plan in my agenda. having plan is good to every individual because without plan no success , so key to success is plant. As an individual your expect to plan what to do, how to do and when to do your things.

We know when the long holiday is coming, I think everyone is thinking about it, many are afraid that bitcoin will go down again just like in 2017 that's what caused a bit of a turmoil for the price to reach $20K or more, that's what I think

I'm gonna keep saying this; truth is, $20K doesn't matter, the price doesn't matter. What matters to me the most is that it still serves it's primary purpose. As far as I can still send John Bull $1000 using bitcoin, I'm as good as fine.

Don't expect too much as bitcoin is really volatile in the market and that's the basic mindset that you should always remember.

In bitcoin there's no such thing as assurance in its price, it can fluctuate which is really a risking thing to deal with.

But admit it, it is much better if bitcoin make another ATH this year as this pandemic is still active.

It still profitable for some and we have different mindset and plans towards bitcoin so we should wait for the next year if what will happen next on bitcoin.

-snip- I don't think we might so much more fluctuation after 20th of December because if you look at previous years Bitcoin has not performed well between Christmas and New year this is my personal observation I think we should stop worrying about $20000 mark and rather start planning to avoid loss if we go through one more bearish run.
A plan to avoid losses must be prepared. As you said about the fluctuation after December 20th it does show a bearish market condition as many people celebrate Christmas and New Year holidays and it's time to rest and sell all assets.
Having spare money to wait for a bearish moment at the end of the year would be very good to get a cheaper price.

The market that does not comply with predictions has many factors that influence it.

When there's a surge, that's what I usually ask. What's the common reason for that rise. I just want to know what's the reason behind it and as usual, the logical answer is the higher demand and lesser supply per se. Plans that we have when to sell doesn't really go along if you're impatient. Like selling at @$18k-$19k or any price that you set. Because when a newbie sees a plunge, he'll create a decision that he'll regret soon. They all think the same that it's like the end of bitcoin. I once had a thought like that before.

OP already said the answer on why Bitcoin price increase and decrease from time to time is because of demand and supply as well as the massive adaptation that cause the price of Bitcoin to swell on $19,000 and almost reach its $20,000 All Time High price again since the last three years.

Massive adaptation like paypal allowing its users to use (in any transactions) and store bitcoin is one of the main reasons why Bitcoin pump in the last few weeks. The most basic reason is because of its volatility, that's why it goes down and up.

Well, it makes sense but I would be hypocrite to say that it doesn't matter if it keeps moving downwards or perhaps not going up ateast $20k. What matters most for a long term holder like me is to achieve the goal profit. And that $20k is around the corner that has been waiting by most of us here.

There's a lot of reasons why pulled back prices were always seen and $20k are hard to touched. But as long as we are optimistic enough that new ATH for bitcoin will gonna hit soon, if not this month then probably next year.

Agree that BTC doesn't go according to our plan but if we try to analyze from down the level like checking the technical analysis, charts, buyers & seller's trust me you will get 75% of result.

Well that's how we can do better Every day, I understand speculations around this forum goes beyond the limit and yes It should be avoided because these people create unnecessary hype for nothing.

We need to understand that Bitcoin doesn't go as per our expectations or predictions

People discuss the price swings and prediction because it's fun to do and profits have driven us to get involved in this race, whoever can predict it right, can sell at the right time to acquire higher profits than others, simply as that. Even people have been doing this for a long time in the traditional market like the stock, we are looking for the reasons, cause and effect relationship whenever something happens or why it doesn't fit our expectations and prediction.

That's always the case everytime bitcoin is on uptrend so just leave it that way. Just as you said, you are there before. It's common.

Even reading articles, newbies will really have a mindset of that as they are lack experience.

It's fine. Eventually, they will realize soon that bitcoin doesn't always follow the way they want.

Its really hard to predict what to happen, the chances of falling and rising is so even. Its better to expect nothing for short term investment, profit usually realized for long term investment. I've watch a documentary that those who do short investment has a lot of potential to lose his or her money, but those who do long term investment gain a lot. If someone focus on the ever changing price of bitcoin they can be overwhelmed and eventually miss the chance to earn. Dont expect much for short term investment, thats it. There is no easy money.

Bitcoin will never go as per your plan, We have seen that since 2017. Now every time I long it goes down, I short it goes up. Now leverage trading becomes harder and harder. Right now I shorted it, hope it goes down. But I have a deep feeling bitcoin might go up to 21k before it corrects. But nobody knows for sure.

When we are still noob then we do really have this kind of perception and believe towards the market on where when the price is rising up so fast then we do put up into your minds
on looking beyond the previous ath and reaching those prices or numbers that even unrealistic at all and when the market had slowed down or make up some corrections then
that the time they go frustrated since bitcoin didnt able to reached out on what theyve been expecting.Sooner or later they would realize as they go engage with this market for a while
or long period where they will know that movement will always vary with the demand and wont easily be breaking those heights without any basis.

what I see from the big picture is that bitcoin price fluctuates around some price - 2 digit prior to 1st halving, 3 digit prior to 2nd nalving, 4 digit prior to last halving.........5 digit amounts prior to next 4th halving etc etc.).  so btc price dont go according to our plans but it is definitely going higher and higher after at least one cycle and this big picture is something which no one can deny. patience is the key. it is not late to accumulate even today. how many times in the past we all thought we have missed the train. well 11 years now and it still goes to the moon. this opportunity will not last forever as it applies for everything in life. just have a bit more courage and invest...at least what you can afford to lose!

However, I think most users on this forum are in Bitcoin for the long run, and probably have hopes that it'll reach way past its current price. So, unless that's blind faith, I think there definitely are reasons why we believe that.

I doubt this statement to be true. The recent enthusiast the industry is creating are mostly interested in the short term profits that's why you see inflow of new members when there's a new technology trending like with ICO and defi which isn't healthy for the industry as many get rekted. Also the rate at which thread are been started on the price of bitcoin say it all that majority of the forum member are only here for the gains and panic when the market is going against them.

Those that truly believe in the vision would careless about the short term price and discuss more on the technology. You can see the inflow of thread concerned about bitcoin not crossing its previous all time high and less thread on the adoption of the currency.

People have been so obsessed by the $20,000 price point that most of them doesn't even know that we have already reached the all-time highs in terms of market cap, which is a far more important(not with altcoins though) statistic due to the slow increase in supply throughout the years.

yes that's true all this while everyone were wishing and hoping that Bitcoin should cross $15000 at least or else it should reach at least $10000 during the last year and now when it has already reached the ATH people are running behind $20000. I don't think we might so much more fluctuation after 20th of December because if you look at previous years Bitcoin has not performed well between Christmas and New year this is my personal observation I think we should stop worrying about $20000 mark and rather start planning to avoid loss if we go through one more bearish run.

Millions of people are already entering the cryptocurrency market and their decisions and actions regarding the purchase and sale of coins and tokens are completely different and contradictory.  Together, they together form the price movement of the market, depending on the prevalence of demand for a particular cryptocurrency or supply for its sale as a result.  It is impossible to foresee what people will do in each specific case, because everyone has their own life circumstances.  Therefore, market prices sometimes behave in a completely unpredictable manner.  So, it was logical to expect a good rise in cryptocurrency prices in this last month of the outgoing year, however, the growth alternates with an unexpected correction.  However, the last two days, prices on the market have gone up again.  Many continue to worry about whether the price of bitcoin will rise to $ 20,000 this year.  Again, there is not so much left to this goal.

Well, any reason that isn't understood by others isn't a reason at all, so you can't really expect for everyone to be satisfied with reasons presented by various people that actually know what happened. It's actually understandable why Bitcoin doesn't go for xx price, why it didn't go below, cause if it did, are you a higher being than us already for knowing that it would happen? That just means that we're just humans, and what we think of predictable, can sometimes be unpredictable, and there's literally nothing we can do about it. Tbh, it's just a matter of accepting it as a loss, or as a win, since there are way too many factors involved to even care about why Bitcoin did that or did this at times.

There are so many factors to consider that can affect the status of bitcoin. One of them is supply and demand variable which plays a huge role that affects its price. Secondly, there's a lot of altcoins competing with bitcoin thus dividing the potential customers to different set of options. There were still other factors that can affect it's price and can hinder you desired outcome but one thing is for sure that there would be no absolute desired outcome that you can expect unless you are lucky enough.

Traders and holders are always complaining about the price and watch it intentionally like it will be go high by sight. Lol
I am gonna keep saying this too; we can study and discuss why/how the price reach certain ATH or increase dramatically, but it's almost impossible to make such predictions. The ones who i can't understand are those following flactuations in charts and made predictions upon it, when they all know that the price is a subject for impacts from several factors .
If the price goes over 20k, what should be their next target? 100k?  Huh Roll Eyes
There's definitely an art behind predicting a market. There's definitely a way to use what's going on in the world, and tie that to various different markets in the world. Wall street is popular for a reason,  they aren't typically betting on it blind, but are considering many factors that could be manipulating the market. Although, Bitcoin is a little different from a traditional market, the same factors usually are still relevant in predicting Bitcoin.

However, who would have predicted we would be seeing the current price of Bitcoin during a pandemic, which has hit every other traditional currency as hard as it has. The Paypal announcement, and various other things that have happened leading up to this moment. Its hard to predict unless you could have seen the pandemic coming, and have various inside information, e.g like the Paypal announcement. So, even though you might be able to tie events to the Bitcoin price, it is most certainly unpredictable.

However, I think most users on this forum are in Bitcoin for the long run, and probably have hopes that it'll reach way past its current price. So, unless that's blind faith, I think there definitely are reasons why we believe that.

I also thought that, why does bitcoin have to hit ATH at a price of $ 20k.  And why if bitcoins don't reach $ 20k, will bitcoins fall into if they don't reach $ 20k.  everyone predicts bitcoin price will reach $ 20k but many factors influence one of them bad news which keeps coming, i will just watch if bitcoin will reach ATH.
