First of all, calling it "lost" bitcoin is a bit misleading; the problem is a occasional increase of the fee above what is expected, of at most 0.01 BTC. It occurs mostly when clearing out a wallet, and has indeed been fixed for 0.4.0.

Secondly, as 0.4.0 has not been released yet, there are no binaries to download. Yes, you could change those lines in 0.3.24, but even then you'll need to recompile it yourself.

If setting up a build environnement is too much work, just wait a bit longer until 0.4.0 is released.

Yea that is what I am gonna have to do is wait. I tired to compile.

So, to avoid even going with the .4rc1, I just need to change my file lines as is on that second link on my 0.3.24 Beta? And I have no chance in losing any btc in the future by changing these lines? I am not pertaining to the lost BTC in odd btc transfers, I am pertaining in about by changing these lines, I am not going to screw something up in client 0.3.24 beta and lead to future problems with the client? If this makes sense to you Smiley.

You wouldn't happen to know how to compile it?

The last time I compiled in linux was long time ago, and all i can recall is mkfile or something.

(edit: 0.3.25 is confusing)

I cannot find 0.3.25.

The 0.4rc1 is what I mean.

oic. cool, thanks, so 0.4rc1 fixes this problem that you know of?

edit:
I can't use the .4rc1, there is no bin folder so I can start it on linux.

What version? Older versions sent anything less than one bitcent away as a fee. ("bitdust").

Linux Version 0.3.24 Beta.

I had sent a payment of 3.8 BTC, the client said the transfer is to big "or in some sorts like this", and that if I want to send a fee of 0.0005, I clicked yes :/, the client sent a total of 3.80658688, stealing a total of 0.00658688 or sending it to limbo. This isn't any big deal as it is a small amount and lucky this is all I had in my wallet was 3.80658688 and not something like 100 BTC, sending 3.8 to the receiver and the remaining in limbo or where ever it went.

Well, I waited for the 6 confirmations, my wallet is still at 0.00 when in fact if 0.0005 was sent as a fee I should have 0.00608688 in my wallet.

Last two transactions of my wallet *link removed*

Then I take a look at the end of the receiver "they received 3.8"  *link removed*

seeing that 3.8 was received, where did the remaining 0.00608688 or 0.00658688 goto? My wallet is 0.00

Thanks.
