A while ago 2021 or 22 I was seeing a bunch of billboards around the NYC area with ads for Gemini and some other exchange.

There were also a couple in Vegas that I saw during one of the BlackHat & DefCon conventions back in 2018 I think. Could have been earlier, next time I was there they were gone.

Has anyone ever seen anything advertised on a billboard and then actually bought / researched the product recently? I could see it happening years ago before the internet but now I don't see it as a useful way to advertise.

-Dave
It would be a preposterous thing to do if they don't advertise any bitcoin or crypto related stuff in DefCon events, that's like ignoring Einstein in a physics convention, basically avoiding one of the cornerstones of your field is just disrespectful to it. I haven't seen any billboards that have me curious that I wanted to check it out, most of the billboards that I see in my daily commute is mostly of hotels, skincare products, clothing brands, movie announcements and government announcements, so you're going to get why I said I didn't check out those that I see on a billboards. I hope to see one that would promote something crypto related too, if I've got the money to rent at least two billboards, I'd probably do it already but it's so damn expensive to do it, maybe someone from my country's crypto community does this for the laughs, it would be a really crazy time for the community.

It is true that bitcoin etf can be subjected to manipulation. Personally I also don’t like the idea of having to own bitcoin but through etfs. Though a lot would agree that this is a step forward towards adoption of bitcoin which a lot of us wants to happen.

It’s still bitcoin just acquired differently and you are not the one directly holding it. We need to find the right balance for now until we get the general public to understand completely the concept of bitcoin.

Tried to find this commercial again but never did until today. In Japan, even though very regulated, you can often see a lot of crypto related commercials or banners and signs on the street. This was quite surprising to me when I first saw it.

I understand how it is surprising considering its neighboring country, China’s stand on cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrency is banned on mainland China and they are still implementing strict regulations to make sure that nothing gets past them.

On the other hand, another neighboring country South Korea seems to be very pro-crypto right now. Their current president, Yoon Suk Seol, supports crypto and wants to develop it in the country furthermore. The sentiment of the entire Asian continent about crypto is quite scattered and all over the place. This might be a challenge for crypto enthusiasts if countries continue to be in disagreement when it comes to crypto regulations.

The strangest thing about China and crypto is that they are only banning it within mainland China. They other places they consider their territories it is absolutely no problem.
Hong Kong is bitcoin heaven with ATMs, physical exchanges and shops basically everywhere.
Taiwan also has plenty of ATMs ( with bad rates ) and also their own exchanges. Just more proof that the system is handles kinda strange.

First that I've seen this list of ads about bitcoin, nice list mate. Not a US citizen but I'm curious if people are still able to watch any of the shows on free television with all of this ads because I assume that these ads are just a small percentage of the ads that's run on US television, or are they in some kind of agreement to do ads on different TV channels or something like that? I wish I could see one bitcoin ads here in my country, wouldn't hurt that people would know that they've got a chance at financial freedom with bitcoin, maybe there's just not a lot of investment companies here that want the money of the common people I guess.

Most streaming services now have ad-supported tiers. Sports streaming services like DAZN and ESPN+ always have commercials, at least in the United States. I’m almost certain I saw a Coinbase ad while watching something on Amazon Prime recently. If you ever watch YouTube without an ad blocker you will also come across these ads, although sometimes I’ve seen scam ads created with artificial intelligence featuring Michael Saylor.
Man, scam ads are still infiltrating even the best of all, but I do get why it can be advertised especially in YouTube, the scammer can just pay for the algorithm to make sure it shows up in the ads, remember that time when someone bought an ad in YouTube but it's the full song of Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley, anyone can pay and it doesn't matter to YouTube if it's a scam one, I think they don't have any quality control in the ads. Really cool that most of the cryptocurrency related stuff are already trying to creep into the mainstream, definitely a big win for us, the community.

I saw an add on instagram some days go, from a Japanese exchange.
It was super short and quick and it was also something about halving and "now is a chance" and so on, just some random stuff to motivate people to get in.

My Japanese is not perfect so I didn't get the rest.

I went to Japan last year and I remember seeing a few banners and signs but nothing out of the ordinary. Japanese people anyway should start investing in bitcoin because their society is becoming less and less sustainable, I remember I was surprised (in a negative way) by the amount of very old people that are still working because they don't have enough money: I'm talking about people in their mid 80s, that was crazy for me.

also buying and managing bitcoin in a blockchain wallet is much better than having to entrust your money to be exchanged for a bitcoin etf which is actually just ordinary shares that are not backed by anything, and which you can only use for investment. where you can use real bitcoin for investments and regular transactions, and the management is completely in your hands, not in the hands of these firms.

I agree, but investors want to be instant and don't want to bother, let alone to plunge themselves directly into the market where price changes can occur at any time without special preparation, there will always be questions that will arise in their minds whether it is about prices, market trends and how to store them safely. But I think it's also better than them buying coins whose origins are not clear in the market.  Yes. In the end, they will share the benefits in the end Grin Grin.

It will help Bitcoin adoption because Bitcoin Spot ETFs actually bring more people to Bitcoin world. They bring more capital to Bitcoin market and with more supply, more capital, price will have to rise.

If not mistake good news comes from the United Arab Emirates, where the percentage is already good, at least 75% of local residents have started adopting and investing in BTC. If we pay attention, activity looks high in the month in March 2024 even though it is in the form of donations in Ramadan.

this is a big scam, because it is much safer to buy real bitcoin compared to this bitcoin etf considering that it is centralized and prone to manipulation.
It is good if you choose to be your own custodian and don't buy Bitcoin Spot ETF shares and rely on third party custodians.

It's your Bitcoin private key, it's your bitcoins, you are custodian of your own Bitcoin bank. It's good.

I really don't know Bitcoin Spot ETFs are scam because they actually have to use money to buy bitcoins. Their Bitcoin treasuries are tracked and under regulations of governments. They can not do shady things like don't use money to buy bitcoins but create shares for sales to customers.

I'm not sure how much of a scam it is in the true sense of the word, but I think the appeal to most investors (those who aren't crypto- or tech-savvy at least) is that it's easier to just buy shares in an ETF than it is to use a crypto exchange that they might not be familiar with or true, and they don't have to worry about keeping their own bitcoin safe.
It will help Bitcoin adoption because Bitcoin Spot ETFs actually bring more people to Bitcoin world. They bring more capital to Bitcoin market and with more supply, more capital, price will have to rise.

Price might not rise immediately but with time and with sustainable increasing capital in this market, price must price higher.

As far as manipulation goes, the ETF should be pegged to the value of bitcoin, right?  I would assume that if the ratio ever got out of whack that arbitrageurs would step in to correct the imbalance pretty quickly--but I'd also think that it'd be easier to manipulate a bitcoin ETF than it would be to manipulate the bitcoin market itself.

These commercials are all on social media?  I don't watch TV, so I'm wondering if all of these things are being advertised on the old boob-tube.  That sounds really out of date as I write it, but it'd be a huge sign that bitcoin has gone as mainstream as it could ever go if that were the case.

in the overview you can now find the new commercial from Kraken and another new one from Hashdex - enjoy watching Smiley

As cryptocurrency grows traction and attention, more and more mainstream media are becoming more open in advertising bitcoin or anything crypto related. I often see crypto sponsors in different kinds of things. May that be a youtube video, a tv commercial or just a sporting team.

It’s cool and at the same time shows you how huge really this thing is expanding and how we should expect for the general public to react

I would love to see commercials like this on television here in my country in the coming days or months, because unfortunately, I didn't see one before or even today. I wish local institutions or even big time crypto traders and enthusiasts here in my country will initiate the the same move to create television commercials for Bitcoin. It will help people get educated and get the benefits and potential of Bitcoin and of course also it has impacts on adoption. I can only see gambling platforms being advertised by local artists that is far more worthless in comparison with Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is increasingly becoming interesting these days, making commercials for bitcoin will make it even more interesting and educative for crypto enthusiasts.

For example, social networks that advertise and market crypto activities will promote the growth and influence of the crypto industry. This method totally upgrades the network and access of potential customers and users and even exposes it to a larger volume of audiences. If running commercials for bitcoin will Generate many people and promote exposure to a large extent of users who literally knows the significance, then there wouldn't be an issue for its adoption.

One thing for sure, all of these ads made by ETFs can make Bitcoin more popular. although they are all pointing to their platforms and services, people will be learning more on Bitcoin and who knows there can be a certain percentage that will opt either to invest in ETF and/or directly get Bitcoin for themselves. As they are saying, even a bad publicity is still a publicity and in these ads Bitcoin is actually presented with a lot of good taste and excitement. Therefore we can conclude that this indirect promotion for Bitcoin can become one of the many advantages of ETFs for Bitcoin and even the whole cryptocurrency industry.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing! A big thing Hhampuz and I were talking about during the Super Bowl on Sunday was when we were going to see some sort of bitcoin or cryptocurrency commercial.  A group of us were chatting about it and we thought at the very least there would be a commercial for one of the new bitcoin ETFs.  As far as I know, unless anyone else saw something different, there weren't any crypto related commercials at all.  Was a bit disappointing.

~snip~

Considering the popularity of this sporting event, I would not be surprised if one of the mentioned companies decided to use this opportunity for advertising. However, it should be emphasized that according to available sources, the price for 30 seconds of advertising is $7 million - which seems like a lot of money from the perspective of an ordinary person, but for companies that manage billions of dollars, it may be more than a good investment.

Bitcoin ETFs are not the freedom fighters of the digital revolution they're painted to be. They're centralized entities, nestled comfortably within the existing financial system. This means they inherit the very risks they claim to mitigate – manipulation, regulatory hurdles, and the potential for gatekeeping. Remember, the same institutions that once scoffed at Bitcoin are now the ones offering you "safe" access. Trust, but verify, as they say.

Furthermore, Bitcoin isn't just an investment; it's a new paradigm, a potential alternative to the traditional financial system. By holding your own coins, you're not just buying into a price chart; you're participating in a global experiment, a grassroots movement redefining what money can be. You can spend it, invest it, even use it to buy a cup of coffee at your local hipster cafe. ETFs, on the other hand, are just another layer of abstraction, another barrier between you and the true potential of Bitcoin.

before and even after the BTCitcoin etf was approved, many new BTCitcoin commercials have appeared on american television and the social media channels
in this thread i would like to introduce you to all of them. this thread should also serve as a kind of collection point for further new BTCitcoin commercials
of course you can also name your favorites here or publish commercials that were not posted by me here in the op
i would then want to keep the list up to date - so here go! Smiley
Cool idea, I will follow this thread for sure! I remember years ago that many people were wondering whether bitcoin should have some public campaign but of course the big question was "who is going to pay for it" and now we finally have an answer! And this is good advertisement because it simply brings awareness to bitcoin, not just the ETFs.

When watching NBA games via streaming I often see these commercials as well since the stream during timeouts also shows the American commercials.
It's interesting how active they are promoting their services.

Also some arenas have crypto related names such the "crypto.com arena in LA" . Until it's downfall FTX also game the name for the arena in Miami.

On Japanese tv I occasionally see commercials for crypto exchanges such as DMM and others. But these are nothing compared to the big billboards in center Tokyo or Osaka.

I have seen several commercials promoting ETF on various business TV programs in the US, but it is nothing strange to see such commercials on US television, just as it is nothing strange that Bitcoin and various altcoins are mentioned very often on such TV programs. Maybe that's why the average American is much more aware that Bitcoin exists, although it must be honestly said that this entire advertising campaign is aimed exclusively at investment, and that it is very rare to see someone talking about Bitcoin as a currency.

I do not think I have ever seen a commercial regarding bitcoin or just any cryptocurrency in my local television

Probably has something to do with public’s perception of bitcoin and how many people are actually interested to put out a commercial regarding bitcoin in a creative and informative way however it would be a delight to see a commercial soon in my local television it might not be that far off with the etf seal of approval

Also wonder why there's nothing like this advertise on our local television to while crypto companies is capable to pay the advertisement fee as we see them spend a lot of money by promoting there businesses. Maybe local network owners doesn't like to accept any crypto related advertisement since there's a law stopping them to do this. But we don't know the real score about this so maybe let see what will happen in future if great adoption will came to our country then provably there's a high chance that bitcoin and other cryptocurrency project will be advertise on local networks.

There's less information about bitcoin and I think that add up the reason on why this is not happening for now since maybe they don't see any market and advertisers want to target those people who already know about bitcoin. All we can do is pure speculation so its interesting to read other opinion regarding on this topic.

Seems like we are about entering into a new phase for Bitcoin when it gradually becomes more common in households and regular discussions.
I am speculating it becomes more accepted generally by a larger percentage of the population and more of the hesitancy around it reduces it.

Privacy would also reduce with it, but that's a topic for another discussion.

Yeah, the more the advertisement starts to get out the more Bitcoin-related products and services will be available now. Till today there was the impression of having regulatory issues with Bitcoin for a common man so most of them ignored it. There was always confusion about whether Bitcoin would survive through time or not. However, now the times changing. Bitcoin has left the "virtual reality" and now it's going "real" public with such advertisements.

Let us consider this one sort of proof that Bitcoin is running smoothly around the globe. This will also capture Gen Z pretty quickly as they keep seeing the ads. I don't know but it might just go on the school and high school levels as everyone would be stating "hey did you check this ad last night"; and stuff like that. Yeah, there are high chances of such events happening.

It is good that you put it here. Cheerful news for us. Smiley

It wouldn't take long for these adverts will become popular on most television stations in many countries. How fast will be determined by how big and lucrative the cryptocurrency market is in your country. My country has a high population of Bitcoin investors and just recently the government lifted some restrictions placed on the use of cryptos, so I am expecting to see these adverts in a few months.

Sadly these adverts will direct investors to buy Bitcoin through third parties and they will also be convinced to keep their Investment in centralised platforms. So we are heading to an era where people will not be aware that the can keep coins in non-custodian platforms and enjoy privacy.

Bitcoin Spot ETF applications were approved in a batch and we had 11 Bitcoin Spot ETFs now.

Because it's a batch approval, there are a competitive race among those ETFs. Race includes many areas like Service fee and Advertisement campaigns like those videos you shared shown that those companies behind approved ETFs are trying to put as much creative and impressive ideas for their service advertisement videos.

Watching their videos, they like have different focus on different user groups exclusively old, middle and young aged.

Good stuff and great idea Cygan! These commercials are great and will definitely help with the adoption, 4.6 Billion influx on the first day! Thats freaking wild man. I liked all the commercials for the most part, I really liked the one that hashdex did tho I liked all the attention that guy drew I couldn't tell if they used a clip of an old movie for it though, I guess this is going to be the new norm, which is pretty epic!

I think Bitwise is the first one that I saw. And when it was posted, it gave a hint that we might actually be getting this etf since they put In all the money and effort to find this commercial so it’ll most likely go live.

Besides twitter I didn’t see it anywhere. Maybe if I watched cnbc or Bloomberg I would see them frequently but pretty sure I won’t see these commercials on my Netflix or prime shows.

How I wish that I was able to watch them as well and only cygan was able to bring it up here, not even the media but I guess that's how it goes in terms of commercials whether they're through social media channels or national television as they don't get that much attention. Anyway, thanks for bringing them up and sharing all of it here. So prior to the approval, they really were able to bring up some commercials to give some people an idea on what Bitcoin and what they're trying to do with the Bitcoin spot etf applications. Well, these have been worth it I guess for their effort as they've been approved.

I also wouldn't be too surprised if a certain national television station did a weekly program at a fixed time slot with a program about bitcoin, yep we will soon see the "Bitcoin, Hello new day", " Fun lunch with Bitcoin " , " Late night talks with Bitcoin " .

Indeed, this is the history of bitcoin, we have had a challenging journey and until now its recognition. I gradually forgot how badly they treated Bitcoin in the past, now things are different, like before owning bitcoin was less sympathetic, now they look to it to gain favor Smiley .

Television is one of the biggest forms of spreading awareness, or like that advertisement, so that many people will see it and have an idea about bitcoin. If this keeps on going and many more channels do commercials like this, then we can expect that more investors will be added to bitcoin, but the downside of this is that many, of course, will also be added to those who will contradict bitcoin. You know, those who want to prove that they are right and afraid of something that is too complex for them and afraid to change.

If bitcoin keeps on getting approval, then maybe it will be mainstream even more. If bitcoin is more powerful and manufacturable circulation happens in the market, then more movement will occur and more opportunity will be found. But we better watch out because the more bitcoin is known, there will also be those who have malicious intent that will take advantage of those new to bitcoin or crypto currency.

It’s going to take a while but the advertisement race by big corps, pushing these bitcoin etfs is going to make the price go parabolic. This is the biggest, most bullish thing to happen for bitcoin in years. Don’t expect the impact immediately but after months, maybe a couple of years we are going to the moon. These big institutions are going to force bitcoin ads down our throats. Every American is going to see this ad push. It is going to be a new era for bitcoin soon.

Those commercials are good for Bitcoin I guess because if more audience view such commercials then they may get some interest in Bitcoin and finally we many have thousands of more investors who start investing in Bitcoin. I hope that soon Black Rock may release their commercial as that would really help to gain new investors who would wholeheartedly invest in Bitcoin after learning about it via those commercials.

Out of all those commercials I believe the Bitwise's and and Greyscale's commercials are quite inspiring. But, the Black Rock's commercial will be at another level. I hope they will also release their commercial soon. No doubt in current available commercials the winner is Bitwise. I'm sure those commercials will help Bitcoin to get more exposure and wide audience may like to learn about Bitcoin after watching those commercials. Bitcoin is going to be the trend of the year.

it is not surprising that as soon as the bitcoin etf was approved by the sec, these investment firms would flock to issue their own bitcoin etf products in order to seek profits from their customers. but interestingly from the average bitcoin etf advertisement, most of them prioritize security and claim that it is lower risk to invest in bitcoin etf on their platform compared to buying bitcoin directly. this is a big scam, because it is much safer to buy real bitcoin compared to this bitcoin etf considering that it is centralized and prone to manipulation.

It is expected that they will market their companies capability to secure the peoples investment and their money.  They surely exaggerate their claims about securities, how it is much easier to investment in Bitcoins and the possible profit of using their service.

also buying and managing bitcoin in a blockchain wallet is much better than having to entrust your money to be exchanged for a bitcoin etf which is actually just ordinary shares that are not backed by anything, and which you can only use for investment. where you can use real bitcoin for investments and regular transactions, and the management is completely in your hands, not in the hands of these firms.

For us who knows the basic about cryptocurrency, we know that it is better to keep Bitcoins in a non-custodial wallet but it is different for other people.  Many still wanted to avoid personal responsibility of keeping their coins so they rather use third party services to keep their Bitcoin for them and have people responsible if their investment gets hacked or stolen.  They do not mind about the manipulation and they are relying on the binding agreement about these services responsibility if something went wrong about their investments.

Seems like we are about entering into a new phase for Bitcoin when it gradually becomes more common in households and regular discussions.

Very soon Bitcoin will be the talk of the day in all corners and media and the adoption will be very high in the future. In this year countries will adopt Bitcoin in their countries to be use as a legal tender currency. Bitcoin will be the world currency for internet. And once Bitcoin is accepted in many countries, dollar will fall and the nations that have accepted Bitcoin, their economy will also improve and inflation will reduce in these countries.

And once families adopt Bitcoin then everything will be good and okay. Because at that stage now the p2p is actually completed.

Does BlackRock and Fidelity do commercials? I'm not from the US. It's actually their (potential) commercials that I'm interested with because both of these have strong-ass brands that could far easier convince the masses to get into Bitcoin.
Although not popular but I think BlackRock has done some commercials in the past, I am not sure about fidelity. This two companies are amongst the biggest in the world and has great influence in the world, the hold billions in asset and shares and amongst the biggest reasons why the Bitcoin ETF would cause a spike in the price.

I am speculating it becomes more accepted generally by a larger percentage of the population and more of the hesitancy around it reduces it.

Privacy would also reduce with it, but that's a topic for another discussion.

So, there are several Bitcoin commercials and advertisements which have appeared on internet? that is something I would have not expected to see this fast, to be honest. I had seen in the past advertisements for exchanges, but this seems to be different than that.

It kind of reminds me when people crowdfunded some ads for Bitcoin years ago and encouraged anyone to do their own research and also to use non-custodial wallets. Now it is about getting people to speculate in the market using centralized tools, either way, I am afraid some people will over invest and may get tricked by whales in the mid term.

As for me, I have not seen any Bitcoin commercial popping up on my social media accounts or anything like it, so I believe it is indeed a campaign which will get targeted to potential North American investors. Let us see how goes...

hadn't seen the rest of those ads except that bitwise. but among them, Tim Robbin's the coolest.  i never heard nor understood that Italian song anyway but this one sounds a lot more meaningful. copyright could be an issue but this is just sort of an ad not meant for TV. still very creative since it makes people listen to what is announced.

before and even after the BTCitcoin etf was approved, many new BTCitcoin commercials have appeared on american television and the social media channels
in this thread i would like to introduce you to all of them. this thread should also serve as a kind of collection point for further new BTCitcoin commercials
of course you can also name your favorites here or publish commercials that were not posted by me here in the op
