Glad you got it sorted.

Electrum recognised my key but didn't recognise the currency without the part before the private key.
Yeah... Electrum supports 4 types of keys.

"Legacy" (aka P2PKH), starts with a "1"
"Legacy P2SH" (aka P2SH), starts with a "3"
"SegWit P2SH" (aka P2WPKH-P2SH) also starts with a "3"
"Native SegWit" (aka P2WPKH), starts with "bc1"

If you don't specify which address type, I believe Electrum defaults to "Legacy" and imports your private key as P2PKH.

We finally got there, thankyou so much! Electrum recognised my key but didn't recognise the currency without the part before the private key.

I've received the private key and put it into block-chain but it says the funds are unspendable because it's considering it as a public key (which it's not) and in Electrum it says there's no funds... any thoughts?
Where exactly did you get the private key from? Did you use the "dumpprivkey" command from within Bitcoin Core? Huh

NOTE: your private key is NOT 3JmWaRWUyfUekyRGG77RCZbPbDFmR26KJ6. This is your bitcoin address.

Your private key should start with a "K" or an "L"... and be 52 characters long... it'll look something like: Kxq1sGqaKKY6fvCvXC2cgCqxyt7emQkjEkEQbtKz3kJa7amsuKSK

did you import it correctly into your electrum?
3Jm... is a segwit address, so you need special care to import it in electrum
you need to do p2wpkh-p2sh:YourPrivateKey when importing that address

Your BTC won't show up in your wallet until the sync has reached block 560762. If you don't want to wait, you may try downloading a lite wallet such as Electrum and attempt to import/sweep the private key in that wallet.

I've downloaded Bitcoin Core yesterday and ordered some bitcoin from Bitcoin Australia before even realising I need to sync (which is taking extremely long) and even though i've received over 77 confirmations, the funds in my wallet still say zero.

Online it says it's in there but i have no access to this.

I've also tried migrating the private key to block-chain which says the funds are there but they're undependable because it's considering the private key as a public one I assume.

Please help!

(Is it because I need to finish syncing? And is there a way I can get around this?)
