A RAM issue is most likely, but it could be a problem with the hard drive or some other component as well. Try running memtest86+ for a few hours at least or overnight if possible, and backup your wallet onto another hard drive as a precaution. If you have any HDD testing tools you prefer, use those to check if anything is wrong, but if not then I've had some success with the portable trial version of HDSentinel.

osx?

Seems unlikely, but would be good to know exactly what OS, version etc is running:

"C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe in Runaway exception"

It's gotta be DOSBox!  That's probably why it's not working as well ...

If you haven't already done so, backup your wallet.dat to another drive. Now.

Could be bad RAM (this happened to me) or a bad HD sector (less likely).

Head on over to http://www.memtest.org/, and either burn a bootable ISO or use the "Auto-installer for USB Key" to create a bootable USB flash drive, and then boot from it and let it run overnight.

If that doesn't help, there are tools that can test for bad drive sectors too (although you probably shouldn't run them too often on SSDs...).

Last week, in the middle of the day, (around noon), my bitcoin core client stopped working and threw this error:

EXCEPTION: 13leveldb_error
Database Corrupted
C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe in Runaway exception

I did a bunch of research.  Finally, I ran the program with -reindex and after MANY hours, the problem was resolved.

Now, today, this issue happened again.  What could be causing this?  I don't mind re-indexing again, but not once a week.
I might as well download the whole block chain from scratch for as long as it took. (Maybe re-indexing does?)

I'm running the most recent version of the software.

Thanks!
