Do as Abdussamad suggested, and post a screenshot of the wallet software you are using... or show us the exact link that you used to download the wallet.

I assume you got it from here: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet Huh
on that page there are 9 available wallets for windows desktop, including bitcoin core and electrum
cmiiw, only 4 of them require downloading full blockchain: Armory, Bitcoin Core, Bitcoin Knots, mSIGNA
so it's down to possible 3 wallets now... @OP which one did you install?

Where did you download Bitcoin Core, and are you sure your computer is clean?
https://bitcoin.org/
I scan my computer daily is malware and antivirus protection (Malwarebytes  and Aviria)

The 12 words came from backup for the wallet, Bitcoin Core shown red bar showing unsecured, so clicking this and backing up provided 12 words that I found out is called the seed.

So I can see my BTC and nothing else. When I go to import seed with Electrum from the read only wallet "Seed" is grayed out.

If I go to new/restore and create new standard wallet with seed I have from my wallet I have to enable BIT39 to proceed, on the next screen I chose legacy, yet tried others. When I go through these steps I see no BTC balance at all.
You have NOT downloaded and installed Bitcoin Core... Bitcoin Core does not provide recovery phrases when you backup the wallet. So, you are using a completely different wallet. No one will be able to assist you properly until we know what wallet you are actually using...

Check your coin privilege

Once again I apologize if I get any terms mixed up, I'm still fairly new to BTC. So I have a backup phrase and my BTC address where I can see my balance with Electrum. So I don't think I have private key(s) where I believe its more hash generated unreadable.

Any solution would be great from online to software, etc just so I can send to another BTC address that isn't associated with Bitcore.

Follow @BitMaxz's steps. Once you generate the private key, import/sweep it into electrum.

post a screenshot of the software you are calling bitcoin core. core doesn't offer recovery phrases so either you installed some other software or you installed malware.

Have you tried exporting your private keys or dump the private key from the console? If you can still remember your wallet address you can dump the private key directly from the bitcoin core console and import it to electrum wallet.

Have you tried exporting your private keys or dump the private key from the console? If you can still remember your wallet address you can dump the private key directly from the bitcoin core console and import it to electrum wallet.

Follow this guide below.

Quote
- Open your Bitcoin client
- Click on 'help' in the menu bar (top right)
- Click on 'debug window'
- Select the 'console' tab
- If your wallet is protected by a passphrase (i.e. you have to enter a passphrase before you can send) unlock it by typing

   `walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600
   `dumpprivkey [your Bitcoin address here]
`This will return the private key which will start with the number 5

Once you have your private key if you had to unlock your wallet you can relock it by exiting or typing: "walletlock" without a quote

Now, after you dump the private key you can now import it to other wallet or electrum.

I'm confused: as far as I know, Bitcoin Core doesn't offer a 12 word backup seed phrase. I haven't made a fresh install for a while, but I'm pretty sure this hasn't changed.

Where did you download Bitcoin Core, and are you sure your computer is clean?

Ok so I downloaded it and imported BTC address, yet its only read only ( I can see BTC balance).
Importing your address indeed produces a watch-only wallet. You'll need to import the seed phrase to be able to spend it, but I would recommend to wait a bit until it's clear where the seed phrase came from. And make sure you only download the real Electrum, there are phishing sites around.

Recovery phrase? AFAIK Bitcoin Core only support that in form of master private key. Just to be sure, is it human readable (contains multiple words) or only contains 1 long string?

Its 12 words all readable, so not private keys that are generated (this I do not have)

If you have the recovery phrase (12 words pass phrase by default) then try downloading Electrum and recover your wallet using Already have a seed feature. This will be easier for you.

Ok so I downloaded it and imported BTC address, yet its only read only ( I can see BTC balance). Now I tired new wallet and import seed yet no BTC is within wallet after entering my seed. So I went to see the read only BTC wallet where I can see my balance yet seed is grayed out.

I also attempted import with 2 factor auth that some others users recommended.

I'm a little closer, meaning I can now see my BTC, I am unable to send funds though only view. Any trick to this?

We are Bitcoin!
So I have the BTC address and recovery phrase for the wallet I need. If sync finishes should I see my BTC balance or have I lost my BTC?

Hey guys, new to the forum and using BTC.

I downloaded Bitcoin Core for my windows 10 desktop on 12/08/2018 around 10 AM for the first time. I was given a wallet address that I backed up with the verification phrase.

Now I opened Bitcoin core again later last night 12/08/2018 around 10 PM and synchronizing started. It has been snching for 16 hours now. I had to enabled pruning since I don't have enough disk space.

My BTC wallet address is changed, it does not match from the first time, at least when I go to receive to see the wallet address.

so I checked /%APPDATA%/roaming/bitcoin/debug   and my wallet address is not stated in here either.

I may be freaking out for no reason, can someone inform me where my old wallet went to, I sent BTC to this address is why I ask.

I can see wallet.dat yet seeing a new BTC wallet address it might be the new one, not the one with BTC.

So I have the BTC address and recovery phrase for the wallet I need. If sync finishes should I see my BTC balance or have I lost my BTC?
