In developed countries almost all people use Bitcoin. Participation in the cryptocurrency market has become ubiquitous now. Some countries around the world use Bitcoin as much as:
1. Turkey is the country with the highest rate of using virtual currency.
2. China and Indonesia are next.
3. BRAZIL is also a country where a lot of people invest Bitcoin.

The presence of currency in digital for now is still a matter of controversy in several countries, as a result the use of bitcoin in a country is not always accepted, although there are still many countries, the top hotsposts that use bitcoin such as ..
1. United States.
2.china
3. South Korea ...
Maybe in the future there will be more ... but I don't find my country listed in the top 10 ..

Thanks, I read the article but I still don't think it's trustworthy data, bitcoin is not a country-based currrency and anonymos. Maybe it would've been more correct to research "what countrymen hold the most bitcoin" but it's impossible to find out.

Hmm..I'm very surprised too that Romania is on 2nd place and Spain on 4th of bitcoin hodlers, looks doubtful for me. What is the source of information, how did they sort them out?

That has been mentioned below his post by @DdmrDdmr [1]

IMO since the article is from Bitidex exchange [2] it looks like they sort and gave that list by users differentiate each cites from that exchange

There is much speculation about who holds the most crypto coins. Some believe that most of them are owned by large exchanges, funds or mining firms that use their position to influence the market in their favor.

I agree that crypto will take a long time to be accepted in the whole world in many countries crypto is not legal and does not know its proper use. But if Bitcoin countries are the top hotspots that use BTC then crypto will improve a lot. Also the growth of the bitcoin industry and its huge potential for change in the economy will begin to affect the traditional financial industry. In recent times top executives from well-known financial institutions have switched jobs to join Bitcoin-based companies.

This is the good thing in my country. We are cryptocurrency friendly country because our government is still open for the development of crypto inside my country. We expect also that when time comes, cryptocurrency will be accepted anywhere in the globe. Making it more convenient for every people to use wherever you are in this world.
I think to make cryptocurrency accepted in all countries will take a very long time because so far there are still many countries that are truly anti-cryptocurrency, even though like that the circulation of bitcoin is still nothing that can prohibit it, only altcoins can be controlled legally.

Im aware that our country in Asia (preferably Philippines) aren't yet btc hotspot. Bitcoin ATMs here aren't that widely spread and less than 10 were just put up in few cities. Also, there areany rural areas here that wasn't reach new technology like this of blockchain tech.

Had a chance to visit the link. Nice to see countries who are very pro bitcoin which started the massive adoption already.

Philippines is not on the list and I don't think it will be because the people who know about cryptocurrencies and bitcoin are a minority here. Also the mainstream media here already painted bitcoin in a negative light, at the same time it is very, very rare for one to see news about bitcoin here. I am not sure if I am right but I really feel that Bitcoin is really something that many Filipinos have not heard of or maybe just chose to ignore.
It's hard to believe but I think the reason is the technology we have in this country was only limited, it is limited only to those people who have an internet connection and a medium to access Bitcoin.
Moreover, if something news came up it's always negative, people who use Bitcoin upon their scheme and such. Fortunately, despite having negative allegations towards Bitcoin, the government didn't impose any regulations on it. Sadly to say but apparently, people are not yet ready to embrace this technology.

A very good topic, because Bitcoin has grown so rapidly in 11 years, it makes us wonder who the top hotspots are using Bitcoin a lot.
I have no doubt that America is the country with the most Bitcoin holders, because several cities in America are quite friendly with Bitcoin.
Even some American companies save Bitcoin as reserve funds, most recently Paypal finally accepted Bitcoin. So it's no wonder that many
people argue that US president election has an effect on the price of Bitcoin.

Why is Japan not on the top list?
Is it because they are using their digital currency more than Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies?
Sorry, that is the first country that pops up my mind when talking about Bitcoin adoption. Then, Singapore.

Because nobody has clear numbers, because addresses don't come with an ID, because transactions don't have the IP of the sender but of the node, because there is no real metric.
And the whole thing is stupid if an exchange is based in Lithuania but it has 99% foreign people with half of them being from the US, who is trading more, Lithuanians or Americans?
Putting a country there because some exchanges have a virtual office there is non-sense, comparing offshore countries where there ain't a single shop accepting bitcoin with others like the Czech republic and putting them ahead of it is again a sign of a superficial analysis!

Very nice topic. The country where I live right now are fully aware of bitcoin but the people here think only of how to get rich fast,I am located in Albania now and I see in websites like Craiglist which are local that people sell and buy from each other I see a lot of mining rigs being up for sale at cheap price I would say,700 EUR for a 6 GPU RX 570 rig in full working order.

That's a normal price, it's a 3 yo card worked to death out of warranty, already superseded by the 5700 last year, and above all, you realize that selling cards cheap already means they are not profitable anymore, otherway they would have already been sold or not sold at all.

I usually don't trust such lists, because the information can't be verified and I'm surprised that Romania is ranked at number 2 for the country that has the most Bitcoin HODLers. This is weird. There must be a reason why there are so many Bitcoin HODLers in Romania-probably due to cheap electricity for crypto mining or very liberal cryptocurrency trading regulations.
How to believe those stats when we cannot verify how legit and in which portal they take the counts?i don't think Romania is much Bitcoin Holder against China or even Spain so basically those data are created in some purpose that may divert believers .

As we can see, most of the countries that are listed in the top hotspots that use BTC, Those countries are all now considered as rich countries maybe because of having good and advance technology so they can easily adapt cryptocurrency.

I didn't expect to see a top 3 of African countries here. On the other hand it could be that bitcoin is even more stable then the local currencies.

Just checked the top 10 countries with the highest inflation:
Venezuela   -2358%
Zimbabwe - 761%
Sudan - 167   %
Lebanon - 120%
Argentina - 39.2%
Suriname - 38.3%
Iran - 30.4%
Congo - 28.73%
Angola - 23.41%
Haiti   -23.4%

A lot of African countries but not the one of the top3. Maybe we will see the countries of the top 10 back in the Google Search Trends within a few months/years.

Back in the day when I was selling my original BTC GPU mining cards on Amazon I had a lot of buyers from Venezuela and other countries that used forwarding companies to ship mining hardware. Distribution wise Venezuela might not be up there but from a use case standpoint I can see the citizens preferring that as opposed to their overnight worthless currency.

To this day used video cards still sell well in those listed countries as long as electricity prices are reasonable.

Bitcoin is very famous in our country for being scam coin due to multiple ponzi scheme here that used BTC as mode of payment. BTC suffer a stigma for being a scam coin here in the Philippines. Although many user are well educated about BTC, the majority of people here including non crypto people know BTC as scam coin. There times during 2017 that our local news reported it as scam coin which is very sad for me and my fellow Filipino crypto user.

America is still a country that has many Bitcoin holders, and many cities in America have become Bitcoin hotpots. So the number
of Bitcoin ATM machines in America is the most compared to other countries, based on the article I read, the number of Bitcoin ATMs
in America is around 6,000, out of a total of 8,000 Bitcoin ATMs around the world. But unfortunately the American government has
always been harsh and negative towards Bitcoin.

I'm not sure that Bitcoin volume on p2p exchanges directly correlates with overall Bitcoin use and adoption. Some countries might have good p2p exchanges while others have bad, there can be differences in their use due to some reasons like local banking rules, competition with local centralized exchanges, legal status, maybe even differences in mentality.

Bitcoin adoption is increasing worldwide, I’m from the UK & there’s hundreds of places where you can spend bitcoin. Many people see bitcoin as a store of value so don’t spend it though, speaking personally my entire net worth is in bitcoin.

Everybody has a different outlook & use for bitcoin. I use it as a hedge against inflation & the scamming fiat currency.

It's an interesting topic, and there are various approaches to defining the hotspots that give different results. I'm surprised that Ukraine is not on these lists. There are a few crypto and blockchain courses at top universities, many local markets where Bitcoin can be exchanged for local fiat, and also some Blockchain events. And some websites actually mention Ukraine as being among the leaders. For instance, this Coindesk article says that Ukraine is leading in terms of global adoption. I don't know if this Global Crypto Adoption Index is legit and worthy of attention, but it seems to me that cryptos are quite popular in Ukraine, and have been for a while.

In my opinion, the usage of Bitcoin will increase in countries such as Argentina, Turkey, and Venezuela, where their local currency continuously depreciates, in the near future. Those who live in these countries are in constant search for protecting the value of their currency.

2. Romania

Lol, really?

Thanks, DdmrDdmr for the source.
Now, let's see...

Quote
Romania 12% of their consumer pool has been found to own at least one type of crypto, with Bitcoin being the most popular.
Spain it seems that only this market niche is favored in the country, in spite of 10% of consumers having purchased and owning some digital assets

Even assuming those numbers, which are clearly inflated, 12 out of 20 million are way lower than 10% out of 44 million.
12%, you're going to tell me than in a country where 1/3 of the population still has a problem with running water access 1 in 8 owns crypto?
There are only 23 million addresses with more than 1$ worth of BTC in them, stop with those 10% percentages, add a damn 0 before it rather than after.

I'm a little bit confused why Malta was included as one of the top hotspots for use of BTC as per OP's reference article? I just hope that classification don't include its preference as one of the most crypto friendly states, and  currently hosting big crypto businesses such as Binance, etc..

If I'm not mistaken, being a hotspot for BTC use includes local community adoption e.g. installed BTC ATM's and having real world usage such as using it as  mode of payment in a marketplace or any payment transaction and it has significant BTC holders as compared with other big countries.

I guess hosting exchanges or other crypto business alone don't qualify Malta as a top hotspot for BTC use other than for trading transactions in exchanges it is hosting. Imho.

It is a problem with all the stats as it is not verifiable, there are many wallets that had a huge number of bitcoin mined during the initial stages and how they will identify which country they belong to, with exchanges and the mandatory KYC they can identify the users from different regions but i have not seen any exchange providing these kind of data.

No wonder, all those Countries in your list are really profitable and has a well-grown economy because of their legal adoption to cryptocurrencies.
As for my Country, I cant figure out how widely known this Bitcoin is and other cryptocurrency to my countrymen, despite its trend and popularity in the market. Maybe because we had the slowest internet connection in Asia and I believe that it is only known in some selected cities with stable signal and digitalized facilities. In many ways, I think my country is probably the perfect environment for the kind of decentralized revolution that Bitcoin has the great potential to enable but unfortunately, our Government refuses or maybe hesitant to crypto currency adoption, because of some negative thoughts about it and they were just being careful or should I say, they just wanted to stick with the traditional and conservative ways of fund management.

I'm not going to pull out some stats on how many of my countrymen actually uses bitcoin but I can say the popularity is growing based on the number of regulated exchanges that's operating here. It started with one and then became seven and there are more waiting in line based on this list.

Binance P2P also supports our local currency. That probably means they recognize the growing popularity of btc and crypto in our country.

You need to include a reference to the source of that information:

First block of data: https://medium.com/@biditex/7-countries-with-the-most-bitcoin-hodlers-503b205d926f

Second block of data: https://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/042415/10-cities-leading-bitcoin-adoption.asp

Third set of data: Google Trends (Ok, you mention that one).

Regardless, the information from some of those sources is not as it seems, or may be quite imprecise:

- The HODLers source does not cite how the information is compiled, and I’m pretty sure Spain is not in fourth position worldwide. The article is linked to an Exchange which I’ve never heard about before, and whose site is not even running apparently.

- Google Trends needs data to be taken with delicacy. The data on Google Trends is relative to the amount of searches within the geographical area. Nigeria is is first position not because it is the place where most searches are being performed for the term Bitcoin, but because it is in relative terms:

Number of Searches for the term ‘Bitcoin’ / Number of total searches on google in that country.

It does not mean that it is the country where the term is sought most (although it shows interest within the country).

Let us know, how popular is Bitcoin in your country?
Don't know why am I facing difficulties opening your blog link. I had to open via Tor eventually, assuming due to the gambling restriction of my country. Bitcoin is not much popular in my country, its because our government stands against bitcoin strongly. I was surprised when I have watched a report on television about Bitcoin. Because 90% of university students don't know about Bitcoin in this digital world. If you are caught trading or using Bitcoin then you have to go jail. That's why I am hiding my country name due to privacy. Spreading the word about Bitcoin except for very near friends & families is quite risky for us.

The site has data on global and local trading volume for P2P marketplaces. There are many charts so I only give you a global chart here. For more details with nations in each geographic area, you need to click on Geographical area name on top of each chart to get it.

First image is for combined volume from Paxful and LocalBitcoins
Second image is for Paxful only.
Third image is another proof that Singapore is one of most active nations in crypto.

Hi guys,

As we all know Bitcoin has changed the fintech industry forever. Currently the “digital gold” is the leading crypto asset in the world.

But do you know the hotspots that use Bitcoin? Find out here >>> Countries where Bitcoin is big.

Let us know, how popular is Bitcoin in your country?

Thanks,
Karl
