Thomas Costanzo and Dr. Peter Steinmetz are set to go to trial on December 5th, 2017. The Defense, needing additional time to time to evaluate the large volume of discovery provided by the government, filed a motion for an extension of time to file pretrial motions and to continue the trial. This motion was filed on August 31st be Lee Stein, Dr. Peter Steinmetz' attorney. The unopposed motion was granted on Friday, September 8th and the process of trial preparation continues. The Defendants are charged with (1) Conspiracy to Operate an Unlicensed Money Transmitting Business and (2) Operating Unlicensed Money Transmitting Business. In addition, Thomas is charged with (3) Money Laundering and (4) Felon in Possession of Ammunition. Both Defendants face the oft abused (5) Forfeiture Allegations.
