so one year later I guess it is hard now to say BCD is a total scam.
they seem to have a legit coin, with decent fees, decen community activity and usable in some kind of global market place...
I have seen worse so far. Any thought ?

Also, recently I came across this thread from last November about $BCD.

https://medium.com/@btcblooddiamond/bitcoin-diamond-is-a-scam-of-epic-proportions-7d7908c43c22

One of the key facts that article points out is the involvement of the chinese exchange EXX.COM

Quote
Bitcoin Diamond is unlike the previous forks of Bitcoin (Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold). Bitcoin Diamond is scam with huge red flags. Do not get scammed into buying Bitcoin Blood Diamonds.

Read on for more details and evidence of this scam.
Social media

The Twitter account was only registered in November 2017.

There is no Slack. Only a link to a Slack with no Invites.
Bitcoin Diamond Slack does not exist

The Bitcoin Diamond Telegram group is announce only and was created in November 2017. There is no activity, just jokes.

Chinese exchange EXX.COM is probably behind this scam

If we see the Telegram account of Bitcoin Diamond we see the words “Welcome” written in Chinese. We also see a screen shot dated November 18 which shows that BCD was traded against CNY before the snapshot date. The Telegram account also laughs at this like it is a big joke.
Look closely at the Bitcoin Diamond Telegram for clues

EXX.COM is also the first exchange listed on their web site.

The EXX.COM announcement of BCD has more information than the actual web site. Fishy, right? Link: https://www.exx.com/newcoin/bcd

EXX.COM is a mysterious exchange based in Hong Kong. The Twitter account was created in January and has NEVER tweeted.
@exxgroup Twitter account has never Tweeted

As someone on Reddit has concluded:

As it appears the exchange EXX.com came online sometime in early November and then the Bitcoin Diamond fork happened November 24, 2017. It seems the exchange was made just for Bitcoin Diamond as a farce to get other exchanges and wallets to begin accepting it. Maybe as a way to give it some validity since so far it looks like it’s just an airdrop or fake fork.

The team is anonymous

The anonymous developers “Evey” and “007” are ready to steal your money.

Source code

There is no source code and far fetched claims that every 1 BTC you have in a private key will equal 10 BCD.
There is no wallet support

Since there is no source code, hardware wallets Ledger and Trezor will not support Bitcoin Diamond.
Trezor says no code
Ledger says no bueno

Bitcoin Diamond only lists some shady wallets on their site. They also spell it “WALLTETS” on their web site. Well done scammers.
Scam “WALLTETS” listed on their web site

Bitgo is falsely represented as a wallet.
What you can do stop this scam from spreading

Promote this article and refuse to use exchanges which are supporting this scam.

Ask exchanges not to support this scam.

Ask any exchange which is supporting this scam to delist it.

Refute anyone who is asking exchanges to add this scam by pointing them to this article.

There is no blockchain and code for Bitcoin Diamond. It is a scam designed to steal your Bitcoins. If you have Bitcoin Diamond sell them immediately. You are holding Bitcoin Blood Diamonds.

I quoted the post in it's entirety just in case it ever goes missing.

As of now their block explorer is pretty glitchy and most exchanges, including Binance does not support BCD wallets (deposits or withdrawals) hence they keep saying that the coin wallet is under maintenance.
I will dig more into BCD in my free time and try to find out if it can be mined. That would go a long way into proving whether BCD is a good viable fork and hence a good investment or not.

I am sure the developers from these two teams are well aware of each other's existence, it is, of course, a PR nightmare.

Well it seems like one Bitcoin fork made to PUMP & DUMP is complaining about the OTHER Bitcoin fork which is also made for the same purpose.  And if this "Stella" designed their logo, she should refund their money (if she was paid). That's one horrible LOGO.

Damn, i just know it now. So there are two Bitcoin Diamond? Why they not using different name? Anyway, thanks for this warning man!

I wasn't aware of either of them existing prior to joining Binance. BCD clearly performs well and even on their website they seem to refer to it as BTCD instead of their default ticker BCD which is what they are known by on Binance and everywhere else.

A request for comment from both teams have been made. Let's see if either of them are game enough to respond in kind.

This confused me at first and I think it is important to make a post about this clarifying that these are two very different Cryptos with two very different performance record.

Chronologically, bitcoin_diamond (BID) was posted on this forum first on November 22nd. Over here. and Bitcoin-Diamond (BCD), came next on November 23rd, here.

I am sure the developers from these two teams are well aware of each other's existence, it is, of course, a PR nightmare.

BCD

This came later, but it is seeing a lot of activity on Binance. Here you can see currently it's holding around $100 per coin. It has spiked up to $150 recently, which is when it came under my radar. Last night the overall positive move % was around 150% on Binance.

BCD at one point hosted enough information on how to mine their coins and many more details on their main website. Which has since been removed, or at least I can't access it. The FAQ seems broken.
Whatever mining information I could find about them is on this post at VVPOOL

BID

On the other hand, despite getting a 24 hour head start against BCD, this team has a website that is straight out from the 90's bitcoindiamond.IN
I am not sure why they have a .IN extension. They show no signs of being from India. A simple whois revealed their domain being registered by some Mikki Rannikko from Helsinki.
I haven't found any trading exchanges, big or small, that has listed BID on them.
